Gary - are you at OL now??? how do you like it???
Vacation Village is still giving to RCI their excess inventory. So not only exchanges but all vacany rooms are going to RCI.
this is a bad mood on VV part - they should be using Hotel kingdom or something similar.
different things for different folks - everyone has their idea on markerting.
rci and skyauction definitely bring in different people and if they buy a timeshare then VV is ahead.
Pat;
I'm at Orange Lake and will be leaving Friday. I like Orange Lake and own two weeks there (one in the North Village, one in the East Village). I exchanged one of my weeks for this week and did an RCI exchange from one of my other timeshares. My unit is in the West Village on Cypress Circle, one street down from Lake Kim Way. Most of the bad points on TUG have been on this area but I like it. A couple differences from the units here versus those shown on the web page.
First, the kitchen is slightly different, perhaps a touch smaller. I like the newer units kitchens better.
Second, the living rooms I believe are bigger. The combination kitchen/living room takes up 1/2 of the flooring in the unit (the 1-bedroom unit that I stayed at Vistana Resort had a similiar layout with the bedroom/bathroom on 1/2 of the unit and the living room/kitchen on the other half of the flooring). The newer units have the kitchen/living room and the 2nd bedroom taking up 1/2 of the flooring. Three results from this; the master bedroom is bigger, the 2nd bedroom is slightly smaller compared to the West Village units, and the master bathroom with the oversize whirlpool unit is large.
Third, in the pictures of the newer units, the balcony is the width of the bedroom. In the West Village units, the balcony runs the width of the unit (bedroom and living room). l like the balcony in the West Village better.
Fourth, while both the West Village and the East/North Villages have whirlpools units in the master bathroom (with the East/North Village being oversized units), there is a second bathtub in the West Village units but only a shower in the East/North Village units.
Orange Lake doesn't have an internet setup in the room so I am using a dialup with Netzero (local Orando calls are free and Netzero is $10 per month - seemed a better deal than $10 per day even though broadband is faster) but there is a connections in the club building if you want to pay the higher fees. OL added a new alligator show on Wednesday for $5. The people from Gatorland come over and give an hours presentation. I went the next day to Gatorland (clipped a $2.50 coupon out of one of the flyers but didn't use OL's discount prices as it was the same as Gatorland's price - I've learned to check prices at the discount ticket locations as many times you end up paying the same as if you were purchasing at the door - in effect, no discount at all).
I'm leaving Friday, so I'll be here for a couple more days. I hope you enjoy your stay. Oh, I also own a every other year at Vacation Village at Parkway; it provides my RCI Points. I was under the understanding that it only sold RCI Points but I've learned that it also will sell RCI Weeks. Go figure!
