Hi. I was just wondering if the Vacation Village Parkway is an ok place to stay. I see so many of them on Skyauction. It looks like not too many people want it and a lot of times they go really cheap!!! Most of them are 1BR which would be ok for us because we don't need too much space. We are already staying at Disney's AKL for 5 nights so we are just looking for something on skyauction for our other 5 nights. I know they are for 7 but we would just be checking out early. We definitely want to go with something on Skyauction for around $250 total so if anyone has any tips that would be great. oh yeah, we will have a rental car so transp. is not a problem. Thanks!!!!

We stayed at Vacation Villages at Parkway in July and thought it was a great deal. The 1bdrm was great for us and was even impressed with the kitchenette. We had a full size fridge with icemaker and also a washer and dryer. There was a two burner portable electric stove that we didn't use but looked nicer than the cheapie ones you can get at WalMart. There was also an electric frying pan and all the dishes, glasses, silverware, etc. I was very impressed and would definitely stay there again.

I will say that the mattress on the foldout sofa was very thin and would not be very comfortable for an adult. My daughter - 12yo - didn't complain but I don't think it was that great for her either. She had the choice of sleeping with me, but she is "too old for that" now (all you moms know how that is).

On some reviews here I read that there was construction going on that annoyed some people. They are building more buildings, but we heard no noise from that construction.

You won't get fancy pools, nothing but a regular pool. We didn't take a "pool" day on our trip so it wasn't very disappointing.

I hope this helps,

Karen

when you take two bedroom lockouts and divide them into two one bedrooms, you are gonna have a lot of inventory.....thus why there are so many on skyauction

the smaller units are more like studio +, would never take a partial kitchen listing for that reason....

even on RCI exchanges you rarely see 2 bedroom exchanges available, thus it must be the management's way of marketing the resort

One of the reason for the availability is that Vacation Village at Parkway has several buildings with multiple units. In effect, it has a lot of units as it tries to cram as many units into a building as possible. The condos are, for the most part, nice units (not a lot of activities other than swimming and Bingo at the resort though) but because there are so many, well, basic supply and demand curve. They have a lot of supply compared to the demand; hence the low prices and the ready availability via Skyauction and others.

Gary - are you at OL now??? how do you like it???

Vacation Village is still giving to RCI their excess inventory. So not only exchanges but all vacany rooms are going to RCI.

this is a bad mood on VV part - they should be using Hotel kingdom or something similar.

different things for different folks - everyone has their idea on markerting.

rci and skyauction definitely bring in different people and if they buy a timeshare then VV is ahead.

We stayed at the Vacation Village at Parkway a couple of summers back and enjoyed our stay there. We had the larger section of a lock off unit so we had a full kitchen and jacuzzi tub. It was a very nice room but not sure we would stay in a partial kitchen unit. We would stay in a full kitchen unit again without hesitation though.

As noted, there were not a lot of activities for people but that is not something we need in a resort stay so not a biggie for us.

It is very close to World Drive so it is easy and quick to get to the parks in the morning and close enough to head back in the afternoon for a rest if needed and you have a car.

Pat;
I'm at Orange Lake and will be leaving Friday. I like Orange Lake and own two weeks there (one in the North Village, one in the East Village). I exchanged one of my weeks for this week and did an RCI exchange from one of my other timeshares. My unit is in the West Village on Cypress Circle, one street down from Lake Kim Way. Most of the bad points on TUG have been on this area but I like it. A couple differences from the units here versus those shown on the web page. First, the kitchen is slightly different, perhaps a touch smaller. I like the newer units kitchens better. Second, the living rooms I believe are bigger. The combination kitchen/living room takes up 1/2 of the flooring in the unit (the 1-bedroom unit that I stayed at Vistana Resort had a similiar layout with the bedroom/bathroom on 1/2 of the unit and the living room/kitchen on the other half of the flooring). The newer units have the kitchen/living room and the 2nd bedroom taking up 1/2 of the flooring. Three results from this; the master bedroom is bigger, the 2nd bedroom is slightly smaller compared to the West Village units, and the master bathroom with the oversize whirlpool unit is large. Third, in the pictures of the newer units, the balcony is the width of the bedroom. In the West Village units, the balcony runs the width of the unit (bedroom and living room). l like the balcony in the West Village better. Fourth, while both the West Village and the East/North Villages have whirlpools units in the master bathroom (with the East/North Village being oversized units), there is a second bathtub in the West Village units but only a shower in the East/North Village units.

Orange Lake doesn't have an internet setup in the room so I am using a dialup with Netzero (local Orando calls are free and Netzero is $10 per month - seemed a better deal than $10 per day even though broadband is faster) but there is a connections in the club building if you want to pay the higher fees. OL added a new alligator show on Wednesday for $5. The people from Gatorland come over and give an hours presentation. I went the next day to Gatorland (clipped a $2.50 coupon out of one of the flyers but didn't use OL's discount prices as it was the same as Gatorland's price - I've learned to check prices at the discount ticket locations as many times you end up paying the same as if you were purchasing at the door - in effect, no discount at all).

I'm leaving Friday, so I'll be here for a couple more days. I hope you enjoy your stay. Oh, I also own a every other year at Vacation Village at Parkway; it provides my RCI Points. I was under the understanding that it only sold RCI Points but I've learned that it also will sell RCI Weeks. Go figure!
