Why only one real bed in the Villas (studio and 1 bedroom)?

Has anyone had a teenager use one of the pull down beds? I haven't seen them, but I thought they were more kid size not adult size.

According to the rules, my DD's family could fit into most studios. Two adults, kids aged 16, 11, 6 and 9 months. Of course there might not be enough oxygen in the room for that many people, but that's another story.

As to the murphy bed, it can hold an average size adult. The matress is 6 ft long and 33 inches wide. A typical twin size bed matress is 2 inches longer and 6 inches wider

Thanks for the details. I had no idea it was that long. I was thinking it was more like a crib mattress.

I'm not saying they would every do it, but that according to the rules, they could. Perhaps if they were getting in late and only staying in a studio for one night to save points, but still it would be somewhat awful.

I understood you weren't really advocating that, you were just saying that it was within the rules. I was just having a little fun since that image was the first thing that popped into my head when I read your post. Thanks for understanding it was intended to be funny and not anything else.

The murphy bed is 33x72. A real twin bed is 39x74. So it is six inches narrower and two inches shorter than a standard twin bed.

My sister and I are in our 30s and we still share the pull out bed in a 1 bedroom and our parents get the bedroom. It's worked out well, honestly, having our own "room" with a door because then we can get up, get ready, and leave without ever waking them up.

I've been wondering about the bedding configurations for a while. Not everyone travels as part of a couple and while I would share a king bed with my mother for a night I wouldn't do it for a longer trip and my sister and I would never share a bed (never have from memory). Even with the pull outs I find that odd. The question of who gets the real bed would be difficult with multiple adults with various old injuries, aching joints etc. I have shared beds with friends on occasion but again, it is weird that there are not a wider range of bedding configurations. I remember when I was a kid plenty of rooms (maybe it was that they were cheaper motels) with a double and two singles for families. I see a lot less of that these days and if my sister and I had been forced to share as children it would not have been a pleasant trip. I feel like with three friends or adult non-couple family members travelling together it would require a 2 bedroom villa and if only 2 travelling then only OKW studio for the two separate real beds or having to forgo the studio kitchenette in favour of an normal hotel room.

Because I'm an early riser, when I travel with other adults I give them the bedroom and I take the living room. I've done the sleeper chair at AKV, BLT and OKW. I find them very comfortable and much better than any of the pullout sofas. Mind you, I am short so that might make a difference.

Of these, I prefer AKV and BLT since it means I can have my own bathroom which is definitely an advantage

A reduced housekeeping schedule is normal in the timeshare world.

No housekeeping for free is the standard. There are a few that offer a midweek cleaning but not that many. Some offer towel exchanges, DVC is the only one I know of that charges for extra towels though some are aggressive about charging for missing towels/pool towels. Many in other countries offer daily housekeeping (6/7) but tips are expected if not required.
