Why not GV's in every DVC?

What do you think was the reason behind the decision to not have GV's at VWL or BCV? Too small? We own at VWL and will probably never be able to get a GV anywhere on property!

I think your guess of "too small" might be correct. Remember, Disney builds DVC's to run as close to maximum occupancy as possible. Maybe they thought that the smaller membership of VWL/BCV wouldn't fill up the GV's year-round?

The only hole in that logic is that there seems to be a shortage of GV's compared to demand, and that any additional on-site DVC GV's would be filled at the 7 month mark if the resort owners didn't book them.

So I guess I've talked myself out of the "not enough demand" answer, and will have to fall back on the pure guess that the smaller size of the resorts inhibited the ability to put GV's in place since all GV's are "dedicated" and that would chew up the quantity & flexibility of offering other villa types. :confused3

I do wish that VWL had at least a couple GV's, though we have no immediate need for one. Just would be nice to have the option.

I think Granny is mostly right though. In the beginning, I don't think they filled the GVs at OKW as readily, so they built FAR fewer at BWV. Then they elminated them completely in the next two resorts (VWL & BCV). By then, the membership had caught up to the idea of the 3 bedroom villa, so they added more at SSR again and made the point cost more in line with the OKW ones. Now AKV will also have GVs but fewer than SSR and OKW. Not sure what THAT means except that they cost more points, so they probably feel they will not be reserved as often.
