Why no fast pass on Toy Story in Cali?

Got back from Cali about a week ago and did 2 days at DL/CA and was surprised that Toy Story did not have a fast pass like there is in Florida..

LOL! We've wondered the same.

I haven't been to the CA parks since World of Color first opened but previously the CMs would form a "single rider" line towards the left side of the ride-queue during peak periods. It isn't always there ... and seems sorta unofficial ... but helps with moving the line along.

Those of us who frequent Disneyland Resort know that they are very much their own park and from what I understand, there are several folks, whether in imagineering or operations who can be a bit old school and appreciate a queue for an attraction.

When balancing the needs of a theme park, every ride can't have fast pass because you need balance. Right now, Toy Story not only holds the folks riding the attraction but also contains many people in the queue. If these folks weren't in the queue, they would be riding other attractions and they would need other things to do at the park. If Toy Story had FP, I can bet you then the Little Mermaid line might be longer. It will be interesting to see the strategy once Carsland opens, but FP can be both a blessing, and a curse, and just because a ride has a long wait, doesn't always mean that ride will work with FastPass.

California has an issue with space, I don't think they had room for a double line. I've never seen it longer than about 45 min.

DHS has 10 rides at most. DCA has like 25. Plus it has more headliners. With more rides there is less need for FP. In general queues at DLR have a shorter wait time than at WDW mostly because there are more rides so people spread out more.

Also, as a PP mentioned, there is less space at DL and DCA and hence there is less space for adding FP machines.

Finally, wait times at TSMM at DCA top out at 60 minutes and are ofen 25-40 minutes. At DHS the wait times top out at 90-120 minutes and rarely go below 70 minutes.
