Went to Disney.com to get a price on a room at the Yacht club Nov 6 thru the 10th qnd they said there was no rooms. Isn't this a slow time? is there something going on?

I couldn't tell you why there are no rooms available. KEep checking though. I've been checking on rooms at POR for my dates in Aug. and the availability changes almost daily. Good luck!

It's usually a slow time. However, for that weekend, there's the Food & Wine festival taking place in Epcot. It's also the timeframe for the Soap Stars Weekend. Seems any hotel within walking distance of Epcot and MGM/Studios are solidly booked, with only the most expensive rooms being available.

We were very frustrated with trying to find an affordable room for 11/5-11/10. When rooms are filling fast, I then check availability with sites that may have a certain allotment of rooms. I was able to find a good entertainment rate on a Dolphin room through Dreams Unlimited. When I had contacted the hotel's reservation line directly, they were unable to give me 5 consecutive nights at either the Dolphin or the Swan!

If staying at the yacht club is important to you, you may want to try switching around your dates. If being there those particular dates is important, then hunt around and book the best rate you can find, and keep checking to see if cheaper rooms open up through cancellations.

Good luck!:)

It could very well be that there is a convention or meeting going on. The Yacht/Beach is one of the few Disney hotels that has decent meeting room space (CS and CR have alot, too). We used it as an overflow hotel from the Dolphin/Swan as well when we did a big convention and the D/S ran out of rooms. It could be that between some meetings/conventions and the FTP package overflow (people staying through the additional week) that they are just full.

The only other thing I can think of is that Disney is doing what other hotels and the airlines do quite often and they are 'force yielding' people into other properties. Hotel chains and airlines have reservations down to such a science that they know how to predict reservations and allocate staff, equipment, etc. accordingly. Perhaps for some reason they want to fill up other properties and are 'forcing' people into them...although this is a pretty unlikely scenario.

You may want to make a reservation at your second choice property and then call periodically to see if the Yacht opens up. More than likely it will...it is very rare for ANY property to be at 100% capacity...except at Disney during some holidays and the millenium. That's what I did when my first choice property was booked....I'm hoping that the resort I really want opens up!

It's pretty much the Food & Wine Fest. It's into the 5th or 6th year and every year it gets busier. BW and BC both have DVC properties, and those are entirely booked up also.Same thing happened last year.

In New Jersey we have a school break from Nov 6 to the 11th I know alot of people go down then. I also heard than it's semester break time in Britian too.

We tried to bookthe Yacht Club consierge for Nov and I ended up booking mid Oct. I do know that it was avail 2 days ago from Oct 29 thru 5th and then you'd get the FTP.

Add me to the list of those who are confused by the availability / unavailability of rooms. I'm looking for Poly in Oct. and was told by the CRO that concierge GV rooms "haven't been released yet." What's also strange is I'm getting quoted cheaper rates for July at Poly than I am for October, which doesn't make sense. It's more confusing than figuring out the pricing of airline flights. Like Penny said, it seems there's some sort of artificial controls being put on rooms.

It may also have a little to do with POFQ rehab. We had reservations at POFQ for Thanksgiving week and were offered Yacht Club as one of our upgrade offers. May not make a huge effect, but is possible. Keep checking- you never know!

Capt Coconut said "What's also strange is I'm getting quoted cheaper rates for July at Poly than I am for October, which doesn't make sense. " Actually, July is value season for the deluxe resorts and October is regular season, so that is why the rates are more in October.

Capt_coconut, July at the Polynesian is Value season, while October is Regular. The fairy tale package will be more in October, as will the rack rates.

I'm not 100% sure why the deluxe resorts are in Value season over the summer. Perhaps because many families go for the all stars or moderates? Those resorts have regular season all summer long.

October is a popular month for conventions, golf, the food & wine festival, etc. - all pretty popular with guests who choose deluxe resorts.

Super Soap Weekend is Nov. 8 & 9.....YC is where a lot of the stars stay and the rooms go really fast....Also, Food & Wine Festival. We made our ressies in February for SSW....thank goodness!

Woops! Thanks for clearing that up for me. I read somewhere that October was "value" season and I figured it applied to all the hotels. I didn't know there are different seasons for different levels of hotels. Now I understand why July is cheaper than October.

Thanks for the info.

We were upgraded from POFQ to YC for Nov 8 to 15 because of the rehab. We did this upgrade well over a month ago and was told at first that there were no standard rooms available but then found us some. I think it is due to the last week of Food & Wine Festival and Super Soap, and maybe all the upgrades. We are lucky we got in.

Capt_coconut, no problem! Regardless of cost, I'd choose October over July anytime. Heat + crowds = grumpy Gillian! :)

A friend of my said that expedia is showing rooms for dates that Disney is showing nothing is available. You may want to check expedia.
