What is going on. No AP or FL resident rates for the Poly?

They just may not be available because they don't need to offer them or they only have a few rooms blocked off at the special rates and sell out of them quickly.

Hey didn't I just post after you on another thread LOL!! You got AKL and never stayed there?? Well, neither have I...time to try something new...right????

OK, quit following me!!l lol :lmao:

Sure I can understand that, logical. Didn't think the only reason Disney offered FL resident or AP was just to fill the rooms because crowds are down, got to draw them in. Sort of like offering discounts to AP holders on food and other stuff, they don't need to we would still buy the food, its just something they do.

I know it sounds kinda strange but way back when, when FL resident rates were actually lower than AP rates they were always released after AP rates. We always tried for WL and they'd always sell out of the AP rate but then suddenly when the FL resident rates came out they'd have those and they were even cheaper! But that meant waiting until a few weeks before the time we wanted to go and chancing it.

But, the CMs told me then that they block of the rooms for the specials. It's possible if they don't fill up that more rooms could be released in the next month or 2 but I have a feeling they'll get pretty booked. They've been filling up quite often these days and if they can get a higher amount for the room they'll try and do that. Does that make sense?:confused3 It's all "big" business. That's why we usually stay at the S/D so we don't get involved in the WDW politics;) but we wanted to try something different this trip. (still kinda nervous about the dumpsters or the loading dock:idea: )

If a resort is already full, they won't need to offer discounts either. The discounts are to fill unsold rooms, and if there are no unsold rooms, theres no reason to offer a discount.

Rooms are staying more full during much of the year, so finding a discount is getting harder and harder. But they can still be found, if you are flexible (usually).

I noticed it started getting harder to get FL rates, passholder rates around the time Travelocity, and others started selling disney rooms. I have a theory travelocity bought those extra rooms, that were once reserved for special rates, I know they still offer them, but I used to be able to call thursday to get a room for that weekend. Now I have to call at least 2 months out. Those last minute trips are hard to do anymore.

Yikes, scarry.

I know times are a changing. I can understand all the big business stuff.
I just don't like it. When I call and ask for a AP rate on a room, I WANT IT.:rotfl2:

Our past summer trips have been last minute. Ressies made in the few weeks leading up to the vacation due to work schedule that sort of thing. Never had any problem. Now I try to make them the day they come out, yesterday, and nothing, no FL or AP. Just don't like it.:)

Someone who is a concierge at a hotel (who is VERY knowledgeable on Disney, I have known him for years) said that occupancy year round is running over 90%. It's slowly been climbing since 9/11, and rooms that are released for discounts really are often filler rooms. There are slower times - but fewer than there used to be - and they've changed. I actually have found late December a better time (around Christmas) to get discounts instead of early December over the past few years.

Occupancy has been really high. It's not Travelocity, it's trying to shoehorn people into a smaller amount of rooms. And there isn't an incentive for Disney to give big discounts when the rooms are filled.
