The Polynesian is our favorite resort on property (next to The fort which is a different addiction). We usually go for a work conference in January and in the past have been able to catch a 35 or 40% off deal for the Poly making our nights around $230-$240 a night. But the past two years even with a big discount it is still week over $300 a night for the most basic room!

Seems that this resorts prices have gone up far more than the others for the past several years? Any insider thoughts? Fun that we will be "stuck" at the Contemporary -- about $210 a night conference fee.

I think your first sentence answered your question. It is also the favorite of a lot of others and it will be priced as such as long as it keeps getting enough guests. I think Poly people are maybe a little more passionate in their resort than others.

One thing that has changed is the seasons. It used to be there were 3 or 4 seasons for room rates, now they are all over the place.

Not to hard to figure out, your paying for monorail to both mk and Epcot, short boat ride to mk, a beach front where electric parade begins and wishes. Big rooms, awesome pool. And most of all, people are still willing to pay for it. Look for prices to shoot up due to construction.

I agree. Also, not sure what room type you have at the CR, but usually the GW rooms are held for conventions (and are the least expensive), which would make the CR quite a bit cheaper than the Poly.

Folks, just love the Poly, and as long as they are willing to spend the $$$, prices will go up. You are paying for being at a monorail resort, easy access to MK and Epcot. A short boat ride to MK.

I also believe the theme is a huge draw, to WDW guests wanting to be close to the MK. CR is too sterile for some, and GF is too stuffey for others.

According to people on the 'Monorail not working' threads, you aren't paying for the monorail at all....

lol

I've found it's not just Poly, but lots of other resorts too have shot up unreasonably high. We were looking at WL for January trip, but even with the winter room discount rates are well over $200/night. The rates seem to have shot up after the room refurbs. I used to be able to stay there for under $200 with an AP discount.
Booked POFQ instead. We love the POR resorts. And more $ in my pocket!!!

The rooms are very expensive now.

Location, Location, Location.

And correct, people keep paying for it.

I think it's because people love it and it has a great location.

I really want to stay there someday but at the prices Disney charges for Deluxe, I can pretty much guarantee it'll only be for a 2 night stay before I move to a moderate or value for the rest of my trip.

The Poly is my favorite resort, but I agree the prices are getting ridiculous. Thankfully, I have other resorts that I like very much too(WL) so I've e been staying there.

Staying at AoA in December..

I'll never be able to afford the Poly, but when DVC goes in next year I was hoping to rent some points there. I'm beginning to think that everybody else in the world will have the same idea, and points will be impossible to come by.

We stayed at the Poly 6 years in a row until suddenly it hit me how much we were paying and how much it had increased. Our next stay is going to be at the Contemporary. Less expensive and with the option of walking to MK it protects against the monorail not working.:thumbsup2

My wife and I had our honeymoon at the Poly. Our 20 year anniversary is in 3 years and we already had to start to save so we can go back for our 20th. It's probably the most expensive because (imho) it's got the best location. It's right next to the TTC, on the monorail and you can watch the fireworks from the beach.

Hi, I was wondering what has happened for that resort to have room rates so high as well. I was checking prices for room only for next year and was shocked.

They used to be par with the other deluxe resorts but now they have jumped higher. We have gone in the past and enjoyed it but it is even with a discount too expensive for what I want to pay for a room there.

It seems to me lots of resorts have jumped in price :sad1: in all levels. It's getting ridiculous. I decided to book a moderate for our January trip. Last time we stayed at Poly about 3? Yrs ago, with AP discount it was under $200/night. But if people are still willing to pay these rates, and they can fill the resort, they will continue to raise rates. As much as I enjoy the deluxe resorts to me they aren't worth $300+ a night. I'm also happy at POR or POFQ!
