when you're trying to lose weight, you just can't stop thinking about food! (See my post about Thumann's, for example.)

Now, I'm daydreaming about the marvelous California rolls I had last week. Oh, they were so good! The crab was genuine snow crab legs, not that crummy fake Krab Delite junk.

Sigh! Let me go some popcorn.

I'm like that with caffeine. I take myself off of it from time to time and I can smell coffee on someone a mile away! Drives me insane!

Dieting is the same way.:(

Good luck with your diet.:)

It's that way because as I said in a previous post, life sucks. :) I wouldn't worry too much about the california rolls, surely they are not that bad.

I'm down 10 pounds! :D

Looks like most of it came off my head though. My eyeglasses got too big--go figure! My clothes are just a bit looser.

All I'm doing is eating fruit or oatmeal for breakfast, soup or salad for lunch, one helping of our regular dinner, and drinking tons of water. I'm getting plenty of exercise hiking to the ladies room. LOL!

Snacks are carrots and unbuttered popcorn. I'm getting bored with that and will add rice cakes as soon as I get some.

Great job Janice!

I know isn't it the pits to do stuff like that.. but you are on your way.. I could use to do about 10 more pounds myself, but not as I 'm on vacation... (I'm not stupid to start a diet BEFORE I leave!)

Oh, I know just what you mean. I just gave up cigarettes and replaced that addiction with food. I never was a heavy smoker, but I would smoke ocassionally to curb my appetite (stupid, I know). I decided it was just crazy to do this, so I gave it up a couple of months ago. Now all I do is eat, and when I'm not eating, I'm thinking about eating. I don't have a weight problem now, but if I keep this up I am sure going to!

Good job on the 10 lbs. weight loss, Janice! That is terrific and something you should be proud of.

Mmmm.....
Popcorn sounds good. Have you tried Kettle Corn? It is SO good!

Speaking of weight loss, I am happy to say that I have lost 25 lbs. :)

Congratulations, Patti! Twenty-five pounds! Woo hoo! But doesn't kettle corn have sugar on it?

You know, Snoopy, I gained a lot of weight for the first time in my life in the year after I had my son. I've been blaming on pregnancy all these years, but maybe not smoking has more to do with it. (Gave it up when I was pregnant and didn't start again.)

I don't know why it's true, JJ, but it is. Really proud of you for losing 10 pounds though. pw2pp...25 lbs?! Wow, way to go :)

Congratulations to you too Janice, that is great! :)

Yes, Kettle Corn has a little sugar on it, that's what makes it SO good. I figure since I haven't been eating chocolate, etc.... , that a little sugar on my popcorn won't do much harm.

Only bad thing is, when I started dieting, I started smoking again. (I know, it was stupid). I am up to approx. 15 cigarettes per day. I want to lose 20 more lbs and then I will quit smoking.

I have hit a point where I couldn't smoke again if I wanted to. Smoke literally nauseates me now.

After I had my son, I was determined never to become a smoker again. But every now and then, I'd have a butt. Mostly when I was hanging out with my sister who is like a human chimney.

On Christmas Eve 2000, we stayed over at her house (following Christmas Eve festivities). The next day (Christmas, of course) I smoked one of my brother-in-law's Marlboro's.

Omigosh! It made me sick as a dog! It ruined my whole day, too. I felt like I was poisoned. I could barely eat any of the fantastic feast my mother-in-law made for Christmas dinner.

And that's it. I haven't been able to stand smoke ever since.

I never lost the weight from being pregnant, and no matter what I do its just not coming off. I did get a new exercise bike so I am hoping this helps.

My sister quit smoking about 6 months ago, and she feels the way you do about cigarettes, Janice. Like she would be physically sick if she smoked one. Which I find amazing, because she smoked like a chimney for years, almost 2 packs a day. In any case, I'm happy for her, especially since she wants to get pregnant soon.

I unfortunately haven't developed that dislike for cigarettes. I can go weeks and weeks without even thinking about it, and then someone will light up and I wish I could just take a drag.

Pregnancy never affected me either way with weight, other than the fact that I gained over 50 lbs. with each of my kids. But I lost it just as fast, I guess because I'm tall. Its a good thing, because I hate to diet, I have no discipline.

The thing is, I didn't gain a lot of weight when I was pregnant. I was up 18 pounds at the most and lost 4 of that before I delivered.

I was at an excellent weight in the first few months after I had my son. Nursing peeled the weight right off!

Then I had to go back to work. I was so depressed! :( It broke my heart to leave my baby in day care--even though I saw him at lunchtime.

I started eating a lot to cheer myself up. It didn't help that my appetite was so big from nursing, and I wasn't doing it full time. I racked up 40 pounds in no time and haven't been able to keep it off since.

I did do Atkins 2 years ago. I lost about 30 pounds, but couldn't stay on the diet. It came back with another 20. :(

JJ, just stick with it. You CAN do it. BTW, on weightwatchers, california rolls (4 pieces) are only 3 points. Not too bad!! Plus they are yummy! I just had some last night.
