turns on their blue lights, I freak out? He wasn't pulling me over, he was hightailing it to pull someone else over (I, of course was going the speed limit and was wearing my seat belt;) ), but still I freak out!

Mornin' everyone.

Happy Garbage Day Jason.:sunny:

I hate when the cops are behind me, period! It always freaks me out!

Me too Shannon. Although I am usually speeding. lol

This was about 40 minutes ago and I'm just now calming down.:o

Laurie, isn't it a law you gotta speed in Indy?;)

Sherry, I wonder why? I'm the same way.:o

I'll mention that if I ever get stopped. lol Or maybe not. :teeth:

I always have the same feeling...But with good reason..I always get pulled:(

It has been said that the best safety feature is a rear view mirror with a police car in it.:D

I panic when I see ANY flashing lights behind me!!

This past Friday I was travelling on an expressway when suddenly behind me flashing lights and sirens blaring from an ambulance. In a panic I try to pull over to the right...no, 'nice' guy won't let me in so I have to stay put in the far left lane forcing the ambulance to stay on the shoulder. Consequently, young guy behind me is a little too close and everyone starts a chain reaction of braking and I get rear ended!! The poor kid was a college student and beside himself!

Yesterday, driving along nicely on a Sunday afternoon...suddenly, you guessed it, lights flashing and sirens wailing.....Fire Truck! Again, I'm in the far left lane (you'd think I would learn) and again Mr Nice guy is NOT letting me in. So, I pull into left turn lane thinking (foolishly) I could turn left and be out of evryone's way! Nope...light turns red and now I am REALLY in the way. So, I indicate to lady beside me that I am turning right in front of her to get out of the way up a side street. Guess what! She wants to do the same thing!! So.....we hit! Who hit who...I don't know!
But..I do know I dread phoning my Insurance agent today!!
Think I'll stay home today!

It wasn't even a full moon!

I should also mention I only just got my car back about 4 weeks ago from body-shop repairs because I was rear-ended at a train crossing sitting there minding my own.......His foot 'slipped' off of the brake! I tell you though...in both cases (the last 2) the other car was towed and mine reallly little damage. I'll never complain about a mini-van again!Hope my luck improves!;)

Minnie56, I hope your luck improves soon, too.:p Maybe you should start driving in the right lane only.;) I don't like those NO Mr. Nice Guys.

I get panicked just seeing them in my rear view mirror. I'll get out of their way if I can. How about when you're stopped next to them at a red light? When the light turns green, I start slowly and let them go. It amazes me that some people actually pass them! I did get 2 speeding tickets when I had a black camaro. Now I have a nice slow mini van. :teeth: That was enough tickets for me!

The thing that irks me is when people see a police car and go 10 mph below the speed limit.

And I mean when the lights aren't flashing. They just think that if they go the speed limit they will get pulled over.

I always tend to get behind these people...

But I love the look I get when I zoom right past them and the cop. The cop kinds chuckles and the driver looks in total shock. I know the cop is laughing because I actually decide to go the speed limit.

I've never gotten a ticket and I don't speed but I still get nervous around police cars.

My brother was driving home once and he saw flashing lights in his mirror and he thought the cop was trying to get past him so he pulled into a gas station to get out of his way. Only to be followed in by the police. He hadn't been speeding btw.
And instead of an officer coming up to his window he hears over a bullhorn "Get out of the car with your hands in the air."
They were looking for someone that had just commited a crime and his car matched the description only my brother didn't match the suspect's description. So they told him that where ever he was going just to stay there for the rest of the night so that wouldn't happen again.

One time... My best friend and I were driving along and a cop pulled up behind us... She panicked and he pulled us over.... for driving TOO slow... LMAO. If a cop is behind me it's pretty sfe to say I can go at least5 over the speed limit. in fact it's happened twice last week where the cop was behind me on a one lane road and as soon as it turned to two lanes... he flew past me only for me to catch up with him at ther red light... LOL

I've been pulled over a handful of times and never got a ticket... although I am sure it helped that when they ran my DL it said Sunnyvale P.D. I got off once because of that. The other times was for one of my headlights was out and the other time was because they guy heard my tires squeal but he didn't clock me so he had no idea how fast I was going.... I've been pretty lucky.

I totally panic when I see them now that I’ve received two speeding tickets within about a year (that’s after never getting ONE in my first 25 years of driving!) The last one cost me $122. I had a police car behind me the other day on an exit where the limit is 25. It is SO hard to go 25. I had always heard that they won’t stop you if you’re under 10 mph over the limit, but when I was stopped last time he said he only had discretion up to 5 miles over. If I try to go the speed limit, people pass me constantly and look at me like I’m nuts. And if I go over I’m afraid I could lose my license. I can’t win!

It doesn't bother me if a police officer is behind me or in front of me. What bothered me this past Spring though, was that a cop pulled up on the right, next to me, stayed with me, nose to nose for about a mile or two and kept looking in my car!!  That was freaking me out!!

I have to admit that would get me too.
