I gain weight!!!!!

I started WW on my own last Monday, January 29th. I decided I wanted Wednesday as a weigh-in day, so I weighed myself for the first time today.

I'm UP .2 lbs.:confused3

Oy! Every time I start WW, I gain. Why is that? This is the third time over the years that I've tried and I gain every time. It is very discouraging.

I'm not giving up yet, but it's not very motivating!!!

When i start Ww I usually gain too. But what my problem is that I have a habit of not eating all day and i grab something quick which isnt necessarily the best thing for me. When i start WW I end up eating alot more that i normally would, but I eat alot better than i normally would too. So I think the fact that I am eating more has alot to do with it. It makes no sense to me. I always make sure that i weigh in the same clothes, same night and same time. I try to save all my water drinking for after WW meeting becasue the water adds weight. Usually by the next meeting I lose quite a bit.

If you do not get better results by your second meeting I would bring in your journal and speak to your leader about what is going on.

I was just speaking to a friend abotu the Garden Vegetable soup. I think i may make it today. It sounds yummy right now.

Good luck. I know it's a hard journey but you have already done half the battle by starting up again.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I'm not going to WW meetings. I'm doing it on my own. I have the tools and I know how to do it, I just have to keep at it I guess. I have been weighing and measuring. I'm certainly eating better than normal and in smaller portions. I'm trying to eat every three hours or so. It keeps me from binging. I have a friend who lost 80 pounds on WW without ever going to one meeting. I know it can be done.

I lost 25 pounds on WW several years ago, before they started the points plan. I had way more success following that program, but, alas, I don't have those materials anymore. Of course, I was ten years younger too :goodvibes

I lost 70 pounds when i was 21. I went back after my first and then when i lost itI found out i was pregnant with my second child. Since her birth I have taken it off but throughout the last 5 years put about 10 pounds back on.
When I started the first time, I started with the plan that we had so many milks in one day, breads, etc. I loved that plan becasue there were alot of recipes that I had that ended up being alot of points when the point system came about. I am one that needs to attend meetings. Just knowing that I am going to be weighed in front of someoen keeps me motivated as well as my leader. You are lucky that you can do it on your own.

I, too, lost weight on the plan that allowed so many fruits, breads, meats, etc. per day. I don't know why this points plan doesn't work for me, since it's really just a way of counting calories.

I don't really know if I can do it on my own yet, but I'm going to give it a try. I just want to eat better and see what happens. WW is a pretty good way to get a handle on it. My plan is to weigh myself every Wednesday and see if I can make something happen. I'm keeping a journal of everything I eat, so that should help.

We'll see. Wish me luck.

OH i do wish you luck!

Just try to keep on track, drink lots of water and if you are dying to have something then have a bit of it because if you don't you will end up eating everything else and then end up eating it anyway. Also keep in mind that whatever you eat in private shows in public. Those were two pointers that my WW leader told us and I have always kept that in mind when i am hiding in my closet eating something LOL!!!.
PM me if you need someone to help keep you motivated!!!

I don't know why you always gain the first week. But for me I have odd weeks where I'll gain weight. Seemingly for no reason. Actually I find sometimes the better I am at being on plan, the more likely I don't have a loss or maybe even a gain. It doesn't make any sense to me. Usually the next week I will have a loss for sure. My leader also said that was true for her. One week a loss the next a small, if any, loss.

So now at this point I try to prepare myself at weighin. If I had a good week last week, I try to steal myself for staying the same. And then if I get a small loss I'm psyched. Of course I still get depressed when I gain.

Good luck. I hope you have better success next week.

Thank you. I hope so too. I have always been a slow loser. It just doesn't want to come off. I'm not giving up. I have to be patient.

Maybe next week.

I'm so happy to read about your determination. You CAN do this and I'm sending PD that it starts happening for you soon so you can start to feel better about things too.

It is not easy for sure. Try getting your mind in it by not tihnking of it as depriving yourself, rather training to eat healthier for the rest of your life.

I am anxious to hear how you are progressing. Keep us posted.
