Why is it so hard to get ressies for Tusker House?

Hi All,

I've been able to secure reservations for the restaurants we want to try out including 3 character meals. I've been attempting to get reservations for Tusker House (breakfast) for the last week or so. I'll try a few times a day, but no luck. I'm happy with what I have and I guess you can't get everything. I didn't realize this restaurant was so popular for breakfast. Once I "finalized" our itinerary, I thought maybe we should try to get b-fast there instead of going to the Grand Floridian for the other character breakfast we have reserved. I am not particularly interested in the lunch/dinner offerings at Tusker House.

Any thoughts as to why it's so hard to get reservations?

I've noticed that it doesn't matter. I've looked during FD in value season and no FD off-ish season (mid-Oct), both without luck. Other than a No-Free-Dining-Off-Season situation, I don't imagine you could find a better chance than I have.

My kids love the Tusker House breakfast but I am considering doing Chef Mickey this time (we have never done Chef Mickey). While I have to clear it with 'those that call the shots', I may be cancelling our Tusker House reservation. If your time frame includes the last week of September, let me know and will update you when/if we drop our ressie.

Awwww...that's super sweet. Our trip is not until Thanksgiving week.

UPDATE: We got a reservation for 9:40 a.m.!!!!! Woohoo!!!!! I am so happy. It's a better use of time for our AK day. Just canceled the 1900 Park Fare reservation. So that still leaves us with 3 character meals for our trip. I think that's enough for the character meals. LOL!

Good to hear ressies become available all the time... I'm in the same Tusker situation (Bommr - if you do intend to cancel (and haven't already), let me know, we're there that week!)

We really enjoy the character breakfast there. We've also done Chef Mickey - I'd say of the two Chef Mickey was more enjoyable because it's a lot more open - which made photos ops easier. But it's in a hotel instead of a park so that's a little bit of a convenience thing. But they're both about equal for the number of characters who walk around visiting tables.
