Why is DL closed at 9:00 tomorrow night, June 19?

Is there something going on later? Every other night it is open until midnight.

So....do the grads get there before 9:00? Will it be a complete nuthouse at the fireworks (more than usual) with grads "waiting" or do they not go until later?

I read elsewhere that the grads are taken to DCA where they are "held" until after the guests are cleared of DL. Once DL is empty, then they set the grads loose on DL. :)

i think its the last grad night....last year it was the 21st of june which was also on a thursday so thats probably what it is

Disneyland doesn't close early for grad nights. Grads go to CaAdv. from 9pm until about 11:30 then they start moving over to Disneyland.

Sorry, but Disneyland DOES close early. They close the park at 9 pm (check park hours on their online calendar) and have 2.5 hours to clean out the park and prepare for the grads. They turn restaurants into dance clubs, set up fireworks, etc. The grads come in at 11:30 and get to stay until 6 am, when custodial CMs then have about 2 hours to get the park clean and ready again for regular guests the next day. It really is amazing when you think about everything they do with such limited time.

With the park closing at 9:00pm, they may not be doing the fireworks at all. In June, the park closed at 11:00pm one night and 9:00pm(for Grad Night) the next and they did not have the fireworks either night.

Fireworks are on the schedule for tomorrow night at 8:45 pm, and will show as scheduled if they aren't canceled due to upper elevation winds.

I hate being in the park on the days they close early. The worst one is when they do the Employee Christmas party. I think they close the park at like 7pm. You would think that if they close DL early they would at least keep DCA open later.

Yep, I was there 1 week ago today and the park closed at 9pm for Grad Night. The fireworks went off at 8:45pm and security was hot on everyone's tail to clear the park. Another item of note regarding the fireworks.......Most of the area around the partner's statue was closed off for viewing as well. They set up some stages right in front of the castle.

Also, the trams to the Mickey and Friends parking structure stopped at 10pm. So, make sure you're not in DTD after that time if you need a tram back to your car or else you'll have to hoof it.

We were there the first week of June, so they only had fireworks on the weekends anyway. But yes, DL did close at 9pm on the grad night. In years past it didn't bother me so much, but this time it did. Just kinda annoying that you spend so much to go on vacation, only to have the park close early like that. But I think the noise we heard in our hotel room from the grad night, keeping us up ALL night, and making us tired for the next day, really made us not like grad nights. LOL

Just curious. How does noise from grad night make it all the way to your hotel room? It seems kind of strange that this would be a problem no matter which hotel you stay at. And if you have gone to DL in past years when there was a grad night, why "spend so much money to go on vacation" during this time of year again. Grad night has been going on at DL for decades. There are plenty of other times during the year where you might not have this problem. But if you must go during this time, I'm sure there are other things you can do on the nights when the park closes early.

It was a park view room at Hojo's. This was our first time staying there, and only recently have I seen a few others have the same experience there. All I ever read about was freeway noise issues, so we were really shocked to hear ALL of Grad night, ALL night long. We usually stay at the Tropicana, or onsite, of which we've never heard the noise before. But yeah, we'll be back to our usual hotels, to avoid that noise next time.

We love early June, because schools are still in, and the weather isn't too hot. I don't think I should have to pick a different time of year, just because I don't like grad nights. Geesh, didn't realize you had to be a fan, just because they've "done it for decades". We actually did go to Universal that day, and spent the remaining hours at DL that evening. But IMO I shouldn't have to find something else to do, I'm there for DL. As is the rest of the people going there during a SUMMER month when things should be open late. JMO of course.

Jen, I can totally see the view rooms at the HoJo having noise issues with the live bands during grad night. I know from experience that I can hear tomorrowland atmosphere music from those balconies, as well as the monorail horn and train whistle. If noise was your only issue at the HoJo, I would hope you would revisit them at a time when grad night isn't an issue, and try another location (like perhaps a quiet Bldg. 2 room with view of the garden pool -- I have never had any noise issues in those rooms)

I would also tend to avoid a grad night the same way I would avoid the Candlelight Processional or CM Parties in December. These are things that are frequently mentioned here on the boards, and most people who don't appreciate early closings try to plan to avoid them. Since you have stated clearly that you aren't a fan, maybe your next early June trip could be for a Sat-Wed stay?

Our trip was a whole week this time, which was why we couldn't avoid the Grad night. Normally it's a bummer when they close early, but we usually take it in stride, because we like that time of year for everything else. This time was worse for us since we were kept up all night, and exhausted the next day because of it.

Guess it doesn't bother me as much during the rest of the year, because they usually close early anyway. But during the summer months you come to expect the longer hours. Really not that big of a deal, but the no sleep thing was something we'll never want to do again, that's for sure!
