Why is all of March Peak season? Is it that crowded?

Our friends are thinking of going the 8-15, a full week before Easter (the 23rd). They are using a friends rental, so the higher resort prices don't matter, but will it be REALLY crowded?

I know a lot of colleges get out around the 15th...

UNCG's spring break starts March 8. Not sure about other schools around here.

Our school (private k-8) has break that week and the week after, FWIW.

I've visited in early March two or three times. If it's not near Easter the crowds are fine. Not super light, but easy enough to work around.

I think it's peak season because it can be. A lot of colleges and schools have breaks between the end of February and the end of April.

most schools have spring break around this time. We went in 05 and it was not bad but it did rain a little every day, bring at least one set of warmer clothes.

Anyway, the F&GF doesn't start until after that week, so maybe it won't be super duper crowded.

Many of the schools in the south have spring break the first few weeks of March. We live in MS and our spring break is always the second week of March.

Spring breaks are different for schools all over the place. Lots of schools have spring breaks in March, regardless of when Easter is. Yes. March is a busy time to visit.

May is less so.

Spring break and Easter so from the middle of Feb. through sometimes all of April can be peak season depending on when Easter falls.

The majority of schools are off in March..all colleges have spring break in March and Easter draws a crowd as well.The prices are alot higher..I was shocked!

Dallas public schools are out March 10-14, and it seems like our schools are usually out the same week TX colleges are out. My friend's dad is a professor at UT and he is usually off the same week that DS has Spring Break.
DH has to bid for vacation, and when it was his turn there were no weeks at all left in March (and they have 4-5 guys on vacation each week) so it is obviously a popular time to travel.
