We will have the money to book our flights on Monday - my amazing Nan has given us £1000 (well loaned us) so we can just get them booked and stop driving myself crazy looking every day. 
Looks like we will probably have to go from Heathrow to get the better rates but whether a myth or not - prices always seem a bit higher at weekends so looking at booking Tuesdy/wednesday Budget is £500 per person and as it is my first time driving from the airport I ideally do not want to be arriving too late and driving in the dark.
Looking at 20th Aug to 3rd september +/- 1 day (would prefer to leave on 3rd so as not to mess with the first day back at school - but not the end of the world if we do.
I'm so excited now - once these flights are booked the whole holiday is REAL!
