Why have I been banned from replying to posts?

Sorry for posting directly to the forum, but I was unable to determine how to contact an administrator directly...

I had not visited this forum in a few months, and when I returned today and attempted to post an informative reply to someone's question (after logging in properly), I received a response that I was not permitted to post replies. The only one of the explanations that potentially made any sense at all is this one: "the administrator may have disabled your account" (because I was not attempting to edit anyone's posts nor performing any sort of administrative duty-all I did was hit the 'post reply' button).

My account is obviously still here & active... and I am signed in properly (or I couldn't have posted this thread). So why can't I post replies in order to share useful WDW information that might help someone else to better enjoy their vacation? I never received any sort of notice that I had supposedly said or done anything objectionable. I simply don't understand the reason for this restriction on my account. :confused3

I go the same thing when i attempted to update my own post from several months ago. Not sure what the deal is

Was the thread itself locked? :confused3

No... it was not a locked thread at all. It was simply a thread where someone had been told that none of the Poly HA rooms had decent views. I wanted to share with her regarding the beautiful view we had of the water, the castle, SM, etc. from our HA LV room on the first floor of the Tahiti Longhouse. (My Father was thrilled last December to be able to watch the 'Ice Castle' changing colors all evening, from the comfort of his recliner inside of our HA room.)

Seems that most of the DIS Forums show that I can not post or reply to posts (it even states this in the small box near the lower left-hand corner of the forum pages, telling me "you may not post..."). But I can still post/reply ok here in the 'welcome' forum, for whatever reason.

It is very frustrating not being able to ask questions or post replies in the appropriate threads. Guess I will just have to go back to silently lurking. :surfweb:

Hi Matt's Mom.

There is a "sticky" at the toward the top of this page that explains what to do. Let us know how it goes!

Here is a link to the info---hope this helps!

I use to lurk-I don't care for it. My mouth is just to big

Dreamer04 is correct-- you either didn't finish your registration originally or you have changed your email address and your account is in limbo. Go to the link above and follow those instructions. You will only be able to post on this board until your account is activated.

And lurking never worked for me either! ;)

Well, the problem with that theory is that I DID complete my registration properly -- way back when I joined the DIS in 2005. Previously I was able to post threads, replies and photos to the forums... and I did so many times over the years (837 times, actually). Also I have never changed my email addy, ever -- have had the same addy since we hooked up to the internet over a decade ago. :dance3:

I did just go into my User CP... and for some reason my email addy had been removed from my profile. Have no clue how or why that could have happened. Maybe it was automatic, due to inactivity over a specific length of time??? Any ways, I have re-entered my email and we will see if that resolves the issue.

_____

Edit to add that it appears to have worked. I'm back to being listed as a 'DIS Veteran' again.

Hey I got you beat as I have 5 years between registering and posting…….
