Why don't people use the search function?

That's what the boards are here for... if you have a problem with it then don't read them.

I guess this is why I got this answer when I asked a refillable mug question that I did a search for.

"Wow! A refillable mug question AND a pool hopping question on the first page at the same time. This must be a sign of the end of the World."

I thought we were here to share as much info as we can. I don't like to flame so I'll keep the rest of my comments to myself.

I loved Harambe's post and I wish I could copy here but I can't figure out how. I tried to search for directions but couldn't find anything. I guess I better not ask!!! LOL.
If you see a question you don't feel like answering again, don't answer it. But, new questions keep the forum fresh right? and I agree that Disney info changes all the time.
I agree that it would be a good first step to try a search but lets not scare away new posts. I just saw a question about traveling w/ a 3 mo and recommended to the OP to check out my post in another almost identical thread. Can't we all just get along!?
Another problem I have is its hard to keep old posts alive and a new thread on a similar topic is the only way to get attention to it. Ok, I said way more than I wanted.
Could someone tell me how to cut and paste other people's posts??? LOL!

I guess if I wanted to find this post, I'd search under "Grumpy Posts". (LOL!)

Now that you have the keywords "Grumpy Posts" you can! :duck:

You just use the handy-dandy "Quote" button on the bottom right of the post your want to copy. HTH!

Thanks robinb - Now that's the dis spirit we all come here for!

I also don't mind when people post the same question that has been asked earlier. You know it isn't always the same people answering the question so you might get a different viewpoint in a new thread that you would not have gotten in a month old thread because different people responded to the new thread. This is a voluntary message board for goodness sake no one forces you to read it..nor forces you to answer someones post. Just think about some of the poor CM's who have to answer when the 3:00 parade is everyday as their job. In addition like some have said the search feature while great at times can be down right tempermental at others.

Thanks PanamaMike for this post! Otherwise I may not have ever heard about the ring at the haunted mansion! See, even negativity can yield positive results with the spirit of Disney around!! :cool1:

I wouldn't say the OP was "negative", but more frustrated. As a fairly new user I was also very frustrated by people who wouldn't bother themselves to use the search feature. I still think that failing to use the search before posting a new question can be a waste of time. For instance, right now there are two "What Bag Do You Use in the Parks?" theads going at the same time. If the second bag poster had done a quick search s/he would have seen there was already a post covering that information and could have read it instead.

Now, I just respond to the posts that I think are interesting. The preview feature on the new board design is great for that! I also almost never add a "me too" post that says the same thing as someone else. I won't post unless I have something to add to the discussion.

I don't mind unless the same question is asked in another post on the first page.

When the Mummy ride opened at Universal Studios, I kid you not, there were 6 or more threads asking about the ride all on page one of the Universal forum here. It seemed like every new thread was asking the same question. One person on the board told a poster to look at the 5 threads right underneath her thread for the answers and that poster got all huffy and said we were a bunch of meanies. She didn't have time to look at the board first, or so she said, but we had to take time to reply to the same question.

I do expect the same questions to come up over and over as new people join the board but at least check the first page before posting.
