I am tired of people getting away with ANYTHING and EVERYTHING...Employers are so afraid to fire people. I am stressed out at both jobs from incompetant people.

I ended up leaving my last job because one of the people (that I hired :rotfl: ) was so incompetent. They wouldn't let me hire anyone else if I let her go, so I kept her and looked for another job for myself.

There are several people in my workplace that "need to go." But our income is generated by people that we have in billets. If we let them go, we do not have the trained people to refill the billets. So its a loss of revenue for the company. It stinks.

No kidding. I'm looking for a new job because I can't stand working with Psycho Sue. I can't understand why she's still here. Yet I get hauled in and "spoken to" :sad2:

Whatever.

When I was still working (11 years ago) I had to fire an employee that broke a state rule and a company rule and was already on probation. She, of course, went to unemployment and we ended up with a hearing. Their ruling was that she was entitled to unemployment because she was basically too stupid to realize what she did was wrong.
Yeah, right. :sad2:

You can still get fired where I work, just happened not too long ago. Ofcourse it took several months, but it finally happened! :cool1:

incompetent people get promoted in my company :confused3 ....and I have the business cards to prove it :teeth:

Same here.

Firings happen, but what happens more is that a person is quitted or resigned. ;)

I saw a coworker of mine get hauled out in handcuffs maybe a month and a half ago.

At my previous job, though, we had a crop of grossly incompetent people (most of whom were in my training class...sigh...led to our being called "the worst training class in the history of AT&T") who never had any kind of action taken against them (once we were out of training) no matter what they did. Constant personal phone calls (many of which were intradepartment), disconnecting customer calls, etc., were the least of it. The only thing that FINALLY got 2 of them gone was when they both were found to have committed credit card fraud via company resources. (Someone would call in with a question re. a bill, and one of the 2 employees would take the person's credit card info--under the guise of performing a "warm transfer" to the billing department--and then use the number to order lunch, stuff from J. Crew (which they then had delivered to work, if you can imagine the stupidity involved in making that decision!), stuff like that.

Psycho Sue, that's awesome.

Couple of years ago we fired a lady for insubordination (racist remarks, hours on the phone for personal things and just plain refusing to do what she was required to do for the position). She applied for unemployment and she was denied due to being fired, not laid off. She appealed, had a hearing and the state ruled we laid her off and she collected for six months.

I think it depends on the offense, at least where I work. Incopetance seems to be overlooked where as Sexual Harassment is dealt with swiftly. Last year a very competant and hard work man in purchasing was fired for dropping the f-bomb a couple of times, out loud in his work area. Two of the secretary's complained and he was let go. A short time later one of those secretary's sent around and email with a naked woman laying on a picnic table with the title "Sue at the company outing". She was fired the next day.

Yea, but was that "Psycho Sue" ?

agnes!

A year and a half ago my husband was fired for "checking his email at work". That was the "last straw" so to speak. Mind you that he'd worked in 3 locations of the company and the other two begged him not to leave when he transfered. This final location, there was a manager who really didn't like him and we're pretty sure he set him up a few times to get him to the point where he was on his "final warning" status where the next incident would get him fired and they determined that checking his email was enough to get him fired.

We've also had a couple of firings here at my office in the year and a half that I've been here.

I work at a small company. You would not believe what goes on here. We have people not show up to work- no phone call, email- nothing- they just dont show. Its ok. We have one guy that drinks whiskey while running machinery and its ok. A couple guys smokin' pot- thats fine too! Its crazy. I come in, do what I have to and leave. I'm looking for another job and its just taking a while to find one. I've been here 9 years. The first 4 or so were ok, the last 5 have been out of control. I keep thinking we'll go under (we've already went bankrupt), but it hasnt happened yet.

Thank you guys! It's not just me...The woman who sits in front of me doesn't know ANYTHING, admits to making mistakes on phone calls (we work in a call center, 6 months in training!! We don't get out till December), and says she's just fed up so she does whatever she wants. Giving out wrong information all the time!! And the girl who sits next to me logs out of her phone so she can email her boyfriend (who's married with 2 kids and WORKS HERE!). Don't even get me started on my part time job!!! :rotfl:
