Why don't I listen to myself???

I know SWA prices come down for my route. They ALWAYS come down. But did I listen to the little voice in my head? NO!!! Panicked and booked on jet blue. Now SWA has come down like I knew it would and it's too late.

Lol. Don't get upset! The problem with airfare is that you can never time it perfectly to get the best price. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to.

Yes! Wait!! I fly from Hartford CT and I know it's $100 one way. Well it's been pegged at $300 since the window opened in May. WHAT??? I had a flight booked I didn't really want in anticipation of switching to the right one when prices came down and then they didn't. I am bring my extended family and they are not flexible with dates so instead of using the points I have been carefully saving, I paid for 7 seats on jet blue @ $173 per. Ugh $1200 I was not planning to spend! And now southwest comes down.

I am somewhat mollified by the fact I conned SWA into giving me my EBCI fees back.

I feel ya! It's a game we play...hping fares will drop (esp SWA) but I can tell you on our fares out of hartford on spring break next year,the prices are and due to the same thing, extended family, non flexible dates, some are paying more oop for air than originally planned. And the fares are still rising. ($399 one way!!!) We were all a bit shocked,but b/c of being non flexible,we figured it's better to save 1/2 off airfare and have it booked,(points) than spend too much time worrying about it for months...and I don't see it dropping much -IMHO none of my trips from BDL have been super low lately....(maybe I'm bad at picking dates lol)

And I always fly off times so my fares tend to be super cheap, as low as $55 one way. So this is killing me. But it's a trip we have been promising the grand kids for a couple of years now and DH says, it's done so stop looking!!

If it's any consolation, there's no guarantee that you would have been able to buy 7 tickets for that lower Southwest price. You may have only been able to get a few seats and the rest at a higher rate. As such, you may not have actually lost the full $1,200.
