Why doesn't WDW have strawberries?

They're nowhere to be found... not on ice cream, on cake, in fruit salad, on waffles or anywhere else.

I was there in October and again in May. No strawberries either time, and they're not on any menus.

What gives?

Hmm... I worked there back in 2006 and we did have strawberries to put on ice cream sundaes. Last time I was there (in May) I had strawberries and whipped cream in Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT. When I ate breakfast at Kona, my Tonga toast came with strawberry sauce. IDK maybe they are out of season, and expensive right now?

I've been following a trip report (Pole Dancing and Food Porn) and they had a fruit bowl with strawberries at Narcoossee's.

I remember having strawberries when we were there in Nov 2009. I guess my memory could be off.

Maybe I just kept missing them?

Beaches and Cream doesn't list strawberries on their menu, just strawberry sauce. The strawberry shortcake has "strawberry topping" instead of fresh strawberries.

I had fruit salad for breakfast at Kona and no strawberries. I had the brownie at the Drive-In, which said it came with strawberries, but it had strawberry sauce instead.

Must be a conspiracy against me!

We had strawberries on our waffles from POFQ food court every morning!

Boardwalk Inn Innkeeper's Club has a large bowl of strawberries at breakfast, but that's the only club level that I know of which has strawberries at breakfast.

Even RPC has no strawberries just pineapple and hard unripe melons.

I don't see strawberries much either. Probably because they're expensive.

I just looked through my Boma breakfast pictures and they definitely have (or had) them. :thumbsup2

I think a lot of places serve strawberry sauce with desserts. I did have fruit salad at several restraunts the past couple of years with them though.

And there's the strawberry salad at the Plaza, that's always on the menu as far as I know.

The character breakfast at 1900 Park Fare had strawberries on the buffet, big ones too!

Timing might be a factor. Strawberry season in FL is Dec through March, and outside of the season they have to be shipped in which adds quite a bit of expense. We had some fabulous strawberry desserts on our January trip, but that's smack in the middle of FL strawberry season so I assume Disney was using them because they were in season and thus cheaper.

We definitely had strawberries after dinner at Boma in September. And I think they had them on the breakfast buffet at Boma in August.

One thing I didn't see the past few times I was down there....a few years ago, they had a fresh fruit/granola/yogurt parfait at breakfast at POFQ. The berries were a mix of fresh raspberries, strawberries and blueberries. Much better than the usual unripe cantaloupe! Haven't been back to POFQ for b'fast in a couple of years, but I don't recall seeing those berries, particularly raspberries, anywhere. Too expensive, I guess! (I mean, I think I have gotten some pastries with *one* berry on the top, but nothing like a parfait of them!)

In May/June we had lots of strawberries. I had a fabulous tart at Sunshine Seasons with strawberry, mango and kiwi. The Chocolate Wave at Coral Reef was garnished with a large strawberry. At Mama Melrose, DD11 had a flourless chocolate cake that was also garnished with strawberries and DS7 had a fruit cup with strawberries. Maybe you've been unlucky.

We were just there over Thanksgiving and had big huge chocolate covered strawberries at the dessert party and fresh ones with breakfast at crystal palace.

We've gone to breakfast a few times at CP & there have been strawberries available. This was in April.

I haven't read any replies, but there is a strawberry on the strawberry shortcake at Sunshine Seasons is my memory serves me.

I had strawberries on my cheesecake at Turf Club just 48 hours ago. That being said, they were not nearly as good at the ones we purchased at the little stand in Plant City!
