Why does the system not use DP for advance payment?

i know it can be done, because I have seen many, many people post as such and my main question is targeting what I must be doing wrong. I have never seen the option to prepay for CRT, Spirit of Aloha, etc. with dining plan credits, even when the plan was purchased well in advance of booking those. For example, I am now trying to book the luau for December, when we are doing DxDP for five nights, but it's still trying to charge my credit card for advance payment. I would like it to hold using the credits as I've seen people say it will. I don't have the option anywhere to select this, nor have I ever seen this option when booking other prepaid meals when we have pre purchased the plan. Am I missing something?
 
I had this problem with CRT and I called and they were able to use my DxDDP credits to hold the reservation. Try calling and see if that would help.
 
Thank you! Unfortunately the cost is insane to call the US as we don't have a long distance plan...I was hoping it could be done online, but I guess I will just eat the cost until that night and have them use our credits instead.
 
I was able to use DDP to prepay CRT.

I don't recall which screen it was with the prompt. You still need a CC on file, though.

Yea, this is why I don't know why the system never shows me any love! I don't ever see that option. I only get the blurb about advance payment being charged to the credit card upon confirmation.
 
Is there really no method to email about this issue? I mean, I would expect that it might be days before someone gets back to you, but any means of communicating that doesn't cost a mint per minute could be better than having to lock up funds paying ahead.
 
The website has an online chat option - perhaps you could connect with Dining that way? I know that when I went through chat prior to 180 day mark a CM told me I would have to call Dining to use DDP for CRT and other "signature" restaurants. I called at 7 AM on 180 day and got CRT and HDDMR reserved with my dining plan, no issues. But if calling is too cost-prohibitive, maybe give online chat a try.
