Why does Port Orleans Riverside/French Quarter only get a 10% discount

Hi: Looking at discounts for fall 2018, and wondering why Port Orleans Riverside/French Quarter have lower discounts than others. Only 10 percent.

Because they're the most popular moderates. Many people will happily stay there without any type of discount.

French Quarter is a small resort, less rooms and wildly popular.

Riverside has rooms that sleep 5 which is a big draw for families of 5 rather than booking 2 rooms.

Yep. We happily stay there full rack BB with FD. But we stay full rack in any case.

Also, because there are big construction projects at CBR and CSR, even with upcoming/ongoing refurbs at both Port Orleans, a lot of people are looking that way to get away from the actual construction projects at the other resorts. They simply don't have to discount under the circumstances.

Thanks. Our family has been going to riverside/french quarter every two years since 1990 and it just seems the past couple of years it has been a different discount than the other moderates or has not been included in the free dining when in the past for us it has been included. Also look how popular the deluxe resorts and villas are and they still get 20 or 25% off.

Discounts are used to fill empty rooms. If there aren't as many unbooked rooms at that resort, they don't need to offer as much of a discount to fill rooms.

POR non-theme rooms can accommodate up to 5 in the standard rooms (a petite adult can fit nicely on the pull down bed).

Add CSR and CBR (rooms can now accommodate 5 as well) construction and both POFQ and POR are consistently running at capacity. Once construction finishes, you'll see an uptick in demand for these, which should drop demand for POR and POFQ. Add refurbishment projects there and it will be the opposite.

Yup. Excited to see the CBR and CSR transformations. That should change the pecking order and take some pressure off POR and POFQ.
