Why does everyone think May 5th will be bad??

I am wondering why everyone seems to think May 5th will be so crowded???? There are plenty of rooms at all the hotels and when I talked to the lady at CRO yesterday she told me there is not a new parade or show. I asked if she thought the 5th would be bad and she said there will be press events but that should not effect the normal people. My husband has a softball tournament that weekend (6th -8TH) so the only day we could do the MK would be the 5th and mornining of the 6t. The 6th is and EMH for the MK so I thought the 5th would be better. Can anyone please tell me why they think the crowds will be so bad??????

Epcot is closing at 3:00pm, so that will make the other parks more crowded that day.

Whenever there is a huge press event, which this will be, it is normally more crowded than usual.

Personally, I don't think it will be bad. I was there for Walt's 100th birthday which was a big press event with Governor Jeb Bush, Eisner, Roy Disney, Regis & Kelly, etc. at MGM and the crowds were bigger at MGM for that day, but it was uncrowded the rest of our trip.

Another factor is that event was just 1 day while the 50th celebration goes on for 18 months.

We are going to Epcot on the 5th in the morning until around lunchtime or so.

Thanks for the replies. Like I said when I talked with the CM at CRO she said all the hotels still have rooms and it is a perfect time of year to come. We wanted to go to the MK with my 2 yr old before the softball tournament that weekend. The best day would be the 5th so I think that is what we are going to do. My DH hates crowds so if it is too bad we can come back on Friday which is an EMH day. Who knew planning a trip could be so complicated!!!
