Why do you live where you live?

We live in Michigan because of family.

And not to obsesses about the food too much - but where else can you get a real doberge cake?

Someone on another board I read posted this, and I thought it was interesting.

For me, it's because my entire family and friends are here, I'm going to school here, hopefully will be getting a job here after that. I love it here. I love that we have all 4 seasons, i'm so close to NYC, and every time I leave, I can't wait to come back home.

I live on Long Island, NY.

I live here because I/we have too...for now that is. As soon as we can ....we are off to a warmer climate. Sooner is not soon enough....I am hating the cold weather and cannot stand the winter mos anymore........

What is so intriguing about threads like this is that so many people are somewhere that they are eager to leave and others are eager to go! I see posters wanting to leave MD and Central Florida and I would LOVE to get back to either place but I am sure there are people who would love to move to GA where we live now (but we are already counting the days until we can leave!).

Different strokes, I guess.

I think what stage or point your at in your life has a lot to do with it as well.
With the NYC area..I think it's really a love/hate kind of realtionship.

OK, I was more in favor of Arkansas but you do live where the best food in the world is made.

Both DH and I were born and raised in the state, though on opposite sides.

Neither one of us can imagine living anywhere else.

If I couldn't live in MN, I would choose WI. I do truly love your state. we had a cabin in northwestern WI growing up, and my brother still lives that way. I love it!! Plus, you can buy beer on Sunday there

I grew up here, and all of my family and DBF's family lives here. I love being close to the city but still in a small town. I have always been taught to be proud to be a New Yorker-- which I am! Besides college in RI, I've never lived anywhere else. Can't imagine it.
Also, what I do as a career-- really limits me. I NEED to be near the city-- which is fine by me!
