Tell me, why do you love Disney?
I have to do a persuasive essay for English. I decided to do mine on Disney. I am not sure how to phrase what I am trying to persuade them though. I think I am going to use the support of the DIS as one of my main points, so I really can't say "I think you should go to Disney World" as my topic. I could do that, though and say that if you come back and are addicted to it (I would use different words for the actual essay) then you have the support of the DIS or even while you planning your trip. What do you think?
So, why do you like Disney? I am trying to think of a way to incorporate the DIS into this, so I might say something like "most of the people on the DIS continue to go to Disney, some have gone up to 30 or 40 times, because....."
Thanks in advance!!!

Read JoeDisney's trip report (go to the trip report board and find my thread on favorite trip reports. His is listed on the first page I think). Anyway, he does a fantastic job of describing the magic for his family and why it's so special. Also ZZUB's reports are so sweet too (he's also on that thread).

Now personally I love Disney b/c its an escape. It totally takes you away!

Assuming you are asking about the parks...

The quality for the dollar spent. We actually like Universal better since we're thrill ride fans, but Disney has so many other attractions to make make up for that.

When compared to most of the smaller parks I have been to, Disney (and even Universal) wins hands down.

For me it comes down to a number of things.

1) I'm a paraplegic and WDW is the most wheelchair friendly vacation spot I've found. It's rare that I find something there I can't do. So I don't have to worry whether the building will have a ramp/elevator. I don't have to worry about not being able to be seated in a restaurant. I don't have to worry about huge hills to push my chair up. I don't have to worry about transportation problems. I know there will be wheelchair seating at a show. WDW lets me feel like eveyone else does on a day to day bases and I don't get that in the real world.

2) I love the atmosphere. I'm a 46 year old guy and I love running to into the characters in a secluded spot. I love the Castle, Main Street, the retro look of Tomorrow Land, the countries in EPCOT, the sketch characters in MGM, the feel of Animal Kingdom...I love it all. I feel like I'm in a special world when I'm there.

3) The entertainment is fantastic. I could spend all day going from show to show. Listening to Off Kilter or The British Invasion. Watching the show in front of the Castle, catching the day and night parades. The fireworks are amazing and I never miss them. Fantasmic alone would be worth the price of admission.

4) I really enjoy the food. Yea it's expensive but I have a sit down meal at least once a day and often I have one for lunch and dinner. There are average places to eat at WDW but why bother when you can go to Spoodles, or Boma's, or Le Cellier, or the Castle, or any number of amazing places to eat.

5) I actually enjoy the night life at WDW. The Adventures Club and the Comedy Warehouse are must sees for every trip. I've never been to Jellyrolls but it's next on my list and I bet I'll love it. Bob the piano guy over at Port Orleans Riverside is loads of fun. I can't wait to see Raglin Road(sp), I love Irish music and an authentice Irish Pub sounds great. Even just hanging around Downtown Disney at night is fun.

6) Disney almost always takes care of you. I always feel like they want to make your trip special. That if you have a problem they will fix it. And they won't begrudge doing it either. Most CMs are there to make your trip magical and it shows.

I could probably go on and on about this but this is a good start. I hope it helps your research.

the MAGIC ... and a true escape ... no phones, no one calls us in the parks ... no faxes ... no emails ... just you and your family and the magic of the parks!

where else can you get so much culture (EPCOT), the magic of MK, the lights and action of MGM and the animals not in a zoo like at AK? That is not even taking the watre parks, resorts, and wonderful CM's into account! :)

the escape from reality....the look on my childrens faces when they see one of their favorite characters.....hubby and i can act like children...the sounds ....the views...the food....the shopping...ummm i think it would be easier to ask my what i dont like about disney....ha ha ha ...

It's the Happiest Place on Earth!

We love that there is something for everyone, no matter what age.

The weather is always condusive to a vacation.

There are educational as well as fun things to do.

You can meet people from all over the world and all walks of life.

They celebrate the holidays like no other place.

It's where I can act the same as my 10 yo and nobody looks at me funny!

Good luck with your paper :flower:

Family fun for everyone! (hey, that rhymes! :teeth: )

Really, there is something to do for just about every age and health status. Warm (or HOT) weather year round. Prices are at almost every level, so most families can afford it at some point. You are about 99.9% guaranteed to have fun, and there are not many places that you can be guaranteed a good vacation.

It makes me giggle and at 57 I find there is less and less to giggle about.

We like it because my son (8) loves it, but it still manages to be adult friendly.

We had to frequently remind DS (when he got a cases of the "I want to's" on this trip that it is Mine and DH trip, and he is just lucky that we like WDW and bring him along!

I love Disney because it is the only place where I can truly relax and feel like a kid again. Whether you want to wear mouse ears or dance to the music, its okay and its fun. My nephew summed it up quite nicley when I took him to WDW, he said "Auntie this is the only place where you can act like a fool and no one cares."

My kids don't act "cool" at Disney. Family time without regular routines.

It allows me to connect with my inner child. Pure imagination, story, whimsy and fun.

Because it's one of the few places my sister and I can travel alone to and feel completely safe.

Because it's where you can wave to strangers on a Riverboat, Choo Choo train, and a monorail and they'll wave back.

Because it's where you can have a magical day.

Because it's where you can go on an African Safari, fall down an Elevator Shaft, Go into Outer Space, Go through a Haunted Mansion, AND have a AAA 5 diamond star meal all in one day!

Because it's where you can stay in Hawaii, but really be in Florida.

Because it's where you can drink to your hearts content since your hotel includes free transportation.

Because it's where you can be a kid again.

I love Disney because of how it makes me feel when I am there. I feel like a kid again and being a carefree kid is pure joy, even if only for a few days. It immerses me in another world, a world without problems. There is something for all ages in your group to enjoy. The rides, the characters, the shows, the resorts, the atmosphere -- all add up to magic. :wizard:

::MickeyMo I love Disney because of how it makes me feel. Infinite possibilities! I don't think that I have had a sad or unhappy Disney moment.

On one trip to WDW when my youngest daughter was 3 yrs. old. ...It was our last day in the park. The very last thing we did was to stop to see Mickey. Mickey scooted down to be at her eye level. We told him that we had fun, but we were going home in the morning. My daughter said, "Bye Mickey".
We turned to leave and the que area as our turn was over and another family had approached to visit with him.
Mickey turned back to her, with the new family there ,(still at her eye level) reached out for her hand and gave her a great big hug. He then pointed to himself drew a heart sign with his fingers and pointed to her (I love you!).
I just started crying!!!
It was just she and I and I had run out of film.
But to tell the truth, I am glad as I would have missed too much trying to capture the moment on film. I captured it in my heart and I will never forget that moment. I still get all choked up when I tell that story and I just don't know why?

I have many other reasons, but I have to dry my eyes first.

I did a research paper on Disney in general for a college management class. I was impressed with the quality Walt demanded of all his Cast Members. I know that my family will enjoy anything with the Disney name on it without me having to sensor it. I cannot say that of any other company that I am aware of.

If you are speaking of the parks themselves, it is because I know that each and every Cast Member will go out of their way to make sure that I have a magical day. (as if I were their one and only customer). And this same quality is constant throughout the whole Corporation. I can go to an amusement park 100 miles from my house. But, I will not feel like I am special or am having a special day. Alot of times, their employees don't even bring their smiles to work with them. I have not been back to this park since my first trip to WDW in 1998. There is no magic there. I have discovered that amusement parks with no magic just aren't fun.
