Questions like this annoy me! I booked my plane tickets today and was excited so I shared it on Facebook. A friend said "Good Lord! Why dont you just MOVE there?!" I replied "well I;m trying!!" but things like that kind of tick me off. She is not a Disney person but still.........she goes to the same beach every summer for the past 20 years. I dont comment on that! Why do people feel the need to comment about how often I go to Disney? Thats so rude! (and actually by the time I get back there, it will be almost 2 years since my last visit! So there!! LOL!)

Maybe she's jealous! But I know where you're coming from because people say it to me too!

I would LOVE to be able to go to Disney more frequently! Some people just don't get the magic I guess. I haven't been to WDW for almost 10 years except for a one day trip for school and I'm so excited to go back in a year.

I get the same thing. Imagine, Disney is about a 3 and a half hour drive and I have an annual pass. "OMG AGAIN?!?" It was funny at first and now it's just getting irritating.

Personally, I spend less money (or about the same) going to a hotel at Disney than staying at an old hotel on the beach. And, I get more entertainment! The most extra expenses that I wish I could avoid are tolls and gas.

Why go "so much"?
If I want a thrill, there's coasters. If I want to chill, there are hammocks on beaches and nifty pools. Shopping? DTD. World cuisine? Epcot. Wanna act like a kid? MK. And I don't have to worry about having a drink too many and driving back to my hotel. Disney does the driving for me. There's a pleasant sensory overload that helps you forget about work, problems at home and all of your other stresses.

"Again?!?!" Yes!!! And I will enjoy every minute of it!

I think of it this way, IMHO people who really enjoy Disney tend to embrace their inner child. They accept that even in an adult world there is a place for wonder, magic, dreams and fantasies (there is a reason those are the names of the Disney ships). And then there are others that have given up on their inner child for some reason. These people tend to look down their noses at us "overgrown children". For them Disney may be a place to take your kids to once, so you can tell them you did that for them. But they see no point in multiple trips. Do they annoy me when they condescend me, yes, especially when they are related to me, but really I just feel sorry that they have lost touch with their inner child in favour of "more sophisticated" endeavours.

That's so funny, everyone asks me that too and now when I tell them I plan to move to Orlando after college (hopefully going to UCF Orlando for my masters!!) they just shrug and say "I always knew you would!!" My family LOVES Disney and Universal!! And Seaworld!!! Why would we NOT move to Orlando!! My sis is headed down in January!!

Don't worry about them!!! I have family that goes to Panama City Beach EVERY year!! To the same condo and do the SAME things!!! I'd get bored!! lol Then they turn around and say "Ya'll are going to Disney...again?" YEP!! And I'll go every weekend when I have APs and live (up to) an hour away!!

Have fun!!! Know that this is YOUR vacation and it doesn't matter!!!

:woohoo:

Maybe you should! Turn it around on her with, "Why do you go to the same beach every year?" She will shut up.

This. :thumbsup2 One of my aunt's asked "You're going to Disney again. Why do you always go to Disney?" My reply to her was "Why do you always go to Vegas at least once or twice a year? " She has never asked that question again.

I agree, it's very annoying when people say this. I have gotten to the point where I try to not even say anything to people when I'm going. Just "I'm going to Florida"

I also get this and I've only been three times in my life. We went in 2011 with my family and when DH sister heard we were planning a solo trip she said, "You're going again?!? Why? You've already been before so why go back?"

And I've also gotten the "you should move there if you love it so much" comment. To which I answered if I could I would in a heartbeat! I'd go tomorrow if I could!

I'm right there with you! (and so is my younger daughter, my Disney buddy)

My husband, my cousins, and some friends just don't get it. Husband's family has a place up in Vermont. It is an old place, needs work all the time, and he wants to go up there every weekend. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive, he likes to spend $$$ at the grocery store to have "manly" food up there, and lots of beer, and it can cost us over $200 for the weekend. That's without stopping for supplies for repairs.

I'd rather save that $200 for two months, and go to WDW. I can make $1600 go a long way down there! :)

We get the same ? all the time now and its pretty easy to answer I'm not sure you could do/see all there is to do at the disney resort area if you stayed a long time plus I drive a lot for work and this is my one week a year I don't have to drive at all. Plus it's a great time for our family to enjoy one another.

it is my sanity... where things work...
this week's song in my head: There's a great big beautiful tomorrow... because today is not so great.

Omg, THIS!!!! Love this! Especially since today has really been bad here. I fire up my Disney music and smile and say "Disney take me away!"

I get that asked the same quite often and even more so when people find out that we go every April and October. As for the why - I love all things Disney. DD loves it too. What better way to spend a vacation is there than by spending it in a place that you truly enjoy?

Once the little one gets older I'll curb our Disney trips to just once per year to allot for vacationing at other destinations both here at home in the US and abroad. I was fortunate to have grown up traveling the world, experiencing different cultures, foods, customs, etc. and I cannot wait to be able to give my daughter the same experiences. She just turned 4 and as I want her to fully remember the aforementioned vacations I don't plan on introducing them until she's in the 8-10 range.

I fell in love with Disney at a young age and I've never grown out of it. I just don't understood why people ask the "why" question. We all have different preferences, we all vacation in different ways and in different places. I personally don't like the beach at all. I find it incredibly boring and can't fathom how someone can spend weeks at a time frying in the sun. It's a personal opinion but I also don't pester those who love their beach vacations with "why do you go?" when they tell me they're going for the 3rd time this summer. It's purely a matter of respecting that we're all individuals, in my opinion that is.

I get asked this all the time. My DD 17 has now visited wdw at least 13 times.. And we live 10 hours away... We had a 5 day trip this past January then just before we left our coach informed us that we would be playing softball at wdw the last week of this month.... Did the math and figured the tickets for both trips would cost more than an AP so In January we upgraded to the AP and have returned in Feb(5 days), April(5days me and DH only), May(7days), bout to go next week(9 days), have a trip booked in sept(only 3days for the Fri the 13th),, and wanna do Thanksgiving also(5days) .... Needless to say when our AP expires we will be done for about a year then will see what's up. We stay value most of the time, eat breakfast and lunch(sandwiches) in the room. And out for dinner. Gotta get our money's worth.

Another DISer (and I can't remember who) said that they answered this question with "Because they won't bring Disney World to me". I loved it, and I've used it a couple times and that usually shuts up people enough so you can change the subject. ;) Besides, wouldn't it be a boring awful world if everyone liked the same things, had the same opinions, etc?!

I used to bug a co-worker about her yearly trips to WDW...until I started planning a trip for 1/14 and NOW I know why it's so exciting! So I apologized for teasing her because now I like to talk about Disney nearly as much as she does. Yeah, you either "get it" or you don't. If people don't respect your Mousejunky-ness, change the subject.

People can tell me what they want because I'm going to keep going and I don't get annoyed by it since I've heard it so many times..I'm about 4 hours away and sometimes a co-worker will ask me how many times do I go in a year, when I tell them around 8-10 times they make that shocked face and I respond with the I used to go much more frequently back when gas was less, more like 15 times a year but now I stay longer on every visit. Then comes the why don't you just move there already and I respond with the "it's definitely in the plans".Then you also have to know who you're talking to,they might be that family who goes like once every two or three years on a major holiday like the 4th of July or Christmas and for some reason has no idea WDW has slower times so they always respond like they couldn't handle going as frequently as I do having to deal with the crowds,in the end people are people some get it,most have no clue.
