Why do so many people second guess their decision of where to stay at Disney?

I've been spending some time at the Resort board and it seems that there are at least a dozen threads a day titled something along the lines of "Please help me feel good about my resort" or "I'm worried about staying at" or "Should I change my resort to", etc.

I don't understand the issue. All resorts have positives and negatives and what works for one person doesn't work for another.

I think these people have paralysis by analysis. For gosh sakes, enjoy your Disney Vacation and don't stress about every detail.

My guess on this is that most of these folks have spent so much time reading the boards and seeing everyone else getting hyped up about the resort, it makes them anxious about their choice and then everyone starts to 2nd guess themselves.

However, I am "guilty" of this as well. My goddaughter and are I going next fall, and I can't decide whether to stay at POP or Caribbean Beach. :goodvibes I read the pros and cons of each, I just don't post that often. :upsidedow

I think it's people who choose (for example) Wilderness Lodge, and then hear all sorts of great things about AKL. Rather than do the sensile thing (resolve to come back as soon as possible, and stay at AKL next time), they start to second-guess their decision, and are looking for reassurance.

Stroll on over to the DVC threads.
Not only is there gnashing of teeth over which resort to stay at, add to the mix which resort to sink thousands of dollars into too!

Oh, and my personal favorite:

"Tell me which villa is the very best for my special vacation. I want the BEST VIEW, AND the BEST LOCATION". AAAKKKKKK!!!:scared1:
Like the entire DVC community doesn't want that same thing!

PS Paralysis by analysis, great saying!!:thumbsup2

I found out the hard way that some resorts while they look great on line are disgusting. I guess if you don't care about anything but going to the parks then you could stay in one of those INTOWN places for 159 a week but if you want a full experience it is important to try and get an opinon from those who might be more experienced.

I stayed at Liki Tiki one year only for part of my vaction but it was beyond disgusting. I learned my lesson after that to check out both on the boards as well as on places like trip advisor. Vacation comes once a year for some and sometimes less for others. In this economy who wants to sink money into a place and then deal with less than wonderful conditions.

I applaude those who choose to check out resorts for vacation and I know that for some it is the highlight of their year, why would they want it to be the best it can?

I don't understand it, but to be honest, we spend so little time at the resort, that I really don't care.

Now, I'd love to stay at AKL one day, but aside from that I"m a low maintenance kinda gal and Pop Century does me fine.

Because people are spending a lot of money - hard earned money - on a very expencive vacation and they want all the magic for themselves and their kids that they can get, and they want to make sure they get the best for their money. They want to talk to others that have been to the resorts, and hear what they have to say about it.

I don't know why it deserves a thread over here on the community board saying how silly you obviously think it is. If you don't like these threads, just don't open them.

I completely agree with finding about resorts before you stay there. It is a wise thing to do.

I'm asking about the people that book a Disney resort and THEN need to ask if they made the right decision or if they should change.

And when you get right down to it, you're going to have a good time at Disney no matter where you stay on-property.

SharpMom, I agree.

Even though I've stayed at almost all the resorts, there are things I love about all the resorts. Sometimes when I say I'm going to stay at BC again, I think but if I stay at POR I can ride the boat to DTD and see the treehouses. Then I have to decide which one all over again.

Really though, if you don't like those threads, you don't have to read them. No need to make fun of or down talk to those that do like to read them.

If I hadn't been putting thousands of dollars into my vacation I probably wouldn't have cared where I was staying but because my only experience being in Disney before this vacation I was 12, I neede to do my research. I would never stay a hotel at disney without wanting to know what others thought of it...

So where are you staying????????

Its like when people ask will I enjoy eating at a certain restaurant. How in the world would we know. We don't know you, what you like, what you don't like.

There are pros and cons to any WDW resort. I can understand if you had specific concerns or needs, but what one person loves about a resort, maybe the very thing that other person hates.

Personally, I enjoy an off-site condo. We have stayed at several different on-site places and we like the extra room you get with a condo. I know most people don't agree with me, but it doesn't make any of us right or wrong.

Because the resorts all have different things that appeal to different crowds

You have

Value
Mod
Deluxe
Camping
Cabins
Suites
Family setting
Romantic settings
Convention resorts
Closer to certain parks then others
Various activities (carriage rides, boat rides, etc)

So pretty darn easy to see why people are asking questions when they are putting out a ton of money for the vacation and would like to know what resort would fit their need(s) best.

FOLKS! - you are missing what I am talking about.

I am not talking about threads for researching where to stay. Great Idea.

What I am talking about are the thread where someone has ALREADY BOOKED A STAY AND ARE HAVING BUYERS REMORSE.

When DH and I go away for a weekend we research the area and hotels. Of course if we are going on a 7 day or longer trip we would want to know the good, the bad, and the ugly of the different resorts.

I would say it is because they may have enough time to change hotels/resorts.

I think it's because they have read negative reviews and are now 2nd guessing themselves.

I've been known to switch resort ressies prior to a trip because I decide I want a different theme or something. No big deal.
