Why do so many people not like Ellen's Universe of Energy??

Personally, I like this ride better now that they have Ellen doing the educational thing. The old movie played was very long and boring and took forever to begin the dinosaur part which is the part I loved most. I think most people dislike this ride for various reasons: takes time to see entire attraction (I think from beginning to end is 45 mins.), the first part of the movie you may have to sit on the floor to watch as all the seating areas may be taken, people just want to vacation and not attend a 30 minute lecture, personal beliefs (pushing big bang theory) and lastly, maybe some don't think that the Dinosaur part of the tour was worth the time taken to see this ride. Could be one or all that cause so many to make that comment.

We have had some great answers here... and of course what makes the world go round is that we all have different opinions...so far we have stayed on track and been nice to each other.. I thank you for that.. Discussion is good..

He has a science show on TV for kids. It is very informative and fun at the same time. He covers a wide range of scientific theories and experiments and explains them all for the kids.
I love the show. You can catch it on Nickelodeon.

Ah - we do get Nickelodeon on Satellite. Perhaps I should ask my kids - see if he's on the UK Nickelodean, though I'm not sure they watch it as much as they used to (they used to live and die by Rugrats). Oh well - veering off topic. Better shut up now.:bounce:

I like that attraction a lot. I find it amusing. Fun ways to learn are cool.

I also thought Bill Nye was a Disney invention. I don't watch Nickelodeon at all.

But I agree with several others here that the show is too long. I've only seen it once and it's not on my list of "must-see" in any of my future visits.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies everyone. I honestly had no idea the thread would spark so much interest/controversy. VERY interesting read!

:( Sorry, I prefer the old show. But then again I also loved Mr Toads ride, Horizens, The old GM ride, the old figment,{Billy Barty} the "listen to the land " song, the odyessey restaurant, Walter cronkite and "tomorrows child" in spaceship earth, and the old chef mickeys restaurant. Sorry, just waxing nostalgic.:(

well, my cousin and I really enjoy going to the Universe of Energy, and we couldn't imagine a visit to Epcot without it! Even though we agree that the show is a bit too loud and a bit outdated, too, it's still a fun attraction.

We love it! We did like the original one much better. My son was only 6 when he saw it!

One interesting note......whne we first saw the new one with Ellen, at the end the Final Jeporady answer was..."what is the one source of power that will never run out?" My son turned to me and said as matter of factly.....that is easy...God Power!!!!

Imagine how we laughed when we heard the answer....I won't give it away but quite honestly we humans do think a lot of ourselves don't we?

:D Outstanding! Your son is a smart child.:D

We like it!!! It's certainly much better than the original. I like the Jeopardy theme and I think Ellen was an excellent choice. I think she's very funny. The show is witty and entertaining as well as educational. Now, once you've done it 4 or 5 times, I can't say it's a "must do" attraction every time I visit Epcot. We probably see it at least every other time we go. OR, like a previous poster stated, it's a great way to beat the heat for about 40 minutes. I still marvel at the dino part. Very nice!

:( I didn't mean that the ride was outstanding, the new version is just ok. What I meant was nutz4dzny's son was outstanding because of his comment about God power. I enjoyed the old movie after the ride through, especially the song, "universe of energy" you know, "here we come", etc. :D

nutz4dzny-yes we do think that we are the all powerful ones. How easily this race forgets!

I thought the show was cute, it could have ended after the dinosaur part. My children were doing some of the same things. God created that, and that. Hey mommy, how did God make oil? How did he get it in the ground. UH OH. So many questions.
