Buy where you like to stay and use the 11th month rule to your advantage. We use Caskbill's programs to track our reservations and points.

The only advantage for us to own at two resorts was so we could book at both 11 months ahead of a reservation. We actually own 3 contracts. Two are at the same resort and the third is at AKV. We purchased all three from Disney, so they have the same use year. Banking and borrowing is very easy under those conditions. We do tend to think of our AKV points seperately though, because it is a much smaller contract.

When the DGC are coming with us, we want to "know" which resort we will be in in 11 months. We own at 5 resorts, BWV, VWL, VB, AKV, and BCV and in each we have enough to book a two bedroom and a studio for most of the traveling party. At 7 months out, if I have to use other points to move a studio to our destination resort, it has worked out so far for us.

The 2 largest groups coming this year will be in June, AKV, VB and VWL, and then in November, BCV.

We own at 4 resorts in order to easily book them at the 11-mo window. We have 16 contracts (1 master and 15 add-ons) -- all with the same UY -- and have no problem managing them.

sorry to hi-jack this thread...

since this thread is about purchasing a few resorts this question popped in my head...

let say you own okw and only 100 pts (Dec) and you own ssr for another 100 pts (dec). Now, you want to get a 1 bedroom at okw and with 100 pts the time of year you want to go its not enough points can I take the points from ssr and move them over to okw so i would have enough is this allowed ?

also, would this change things if I don't buy directly from disney???

To simply answer your question, as long as you are only 7 months away you can use any points at any resort. You can not use your SSR points to be at OKW if you are more then 7 months out.

Going back to the original question, I own at BCV and SSR. We bought the contracts because that is what they were selling at the time we bought. We did not try to get into other resorts. We normally can not book 11 months out, so we just do what we can when we need to book. We are fairly flexible when it comes time to book. We always have a resort we would like to try to get into, but if we can not, then we try others or waitlist.

We also have the same use year, so that is VERY Helpful, no problem managing.

The 11 month booking window is the only reason I bought BCV and it has turned out to be the contract we have used the least to stay at the home resort. Our first contract at OKW gets the most home resort stays and SSR is second. I bought both BCV and SSR pre general public sale to get the incentive being offered at the time. The added years and artist rendering of the main pool got me to invest in SSR. I haven't used the main pool yet but do like the ones at CP and GS. They are all separate contracts not add ons. Two have an Aug UY and one is April. It has not been difficult to keep track of banking deadlines the last couple of years as we did not have any points to bank. This year we did bank a total of 8 points between two of the contracts. I am currently making reservations using my 2008 August points for a family trip in Sept. and have used half the BCV ones for a non peak time rental ($$to pay for shore excursions on cruise to Alaska since we won't need the points for another WDW trip until next spring.)

The points are separate at 11 months and you can combine them at 7. It doesn't matter where you bought them.

Although I believe you could use 100 borrowed OKW points to plan a 200 point trip at 11 months, then bank your 100 SSR points to have a 200 point SSR trip next year at 11 months. I also think with planning, you can combine banking and borrowing with 3 contracts and go to each resort every 3rd year with 3x points.

We own at 2 resorts, OKW and VB. We wanted the beach vacation and the park vacation options. We have added on to OKW several times but all contracts have the same use year, the only way to make it simple. I know many own mutliple resorts at WDW but I don't see the benefit unless you have enough points to stay at each resort on its own points. You can't ever be sure you can get another resort at 7 months so the 11 month window is best. It is best to buy where you want to stay! When we joined, OKW was the only resort so there was no choice. We added VB later when we wanted to stay in a beach cottage and the only way to be sure of that was to have the 11 month window. Good luck with you choice.
