Why Chapek is to blame? (Why not D’Amaro or others?)

Chapek has destroyed the parks. They are trashed, the rides are breaking down because they lack maintenance. The CM’s are not being trained. The CP program is a joke. College students can learn to flip burgers or make beds at home.
I think you are referring to the Florida parks. You are correct those are getting destroyed. All of the resources are going into the California parks. They are great and getting better every year.

I'm not going to take political sides here because I believe there is plenty of blame to go around with both Disney and Desantis. But I will say this about Disney; If you want to fight for human decency and the right, fair, and proper treatment for all people (as we all should want), then stop chasing the almighty dollar and pull out of Shanghai and stop selling all of your memorabilia that you chose to have made in China because it's cheap and the profits are high. Put your money where your mouth is. Disney is doing nothing more than helping to perpetuate the human atrocities in China while trying to come off as taking a moral high ground domestically. Disney, don't blow smoke up my back end and call it magic and pixie dust.

Well said.

It’s all on Chapek because he’s the CEO. He spent 30 years clawing up a ladder to land the top spot. Be careful what you ask for……. It didn’t start with his becoming CEO but that’s where the blame will rest unfortunately. If everything was roses, do you think he’d pass on the accolades? No.

bottom line is the parks are now too crowded and too expensive. And the culture wars are being fanned from within which is forcing chapek to react rather than lead. It’s going to get worse before it gets better. We are winding our Disney trips down from things we already booked, but likely to rent our dvc points out and not return for a while. Our last trip last december was a goat rodeo with genie+ and was not enjoyable in the least.

Let's be honest here. The repercussions didn't come because Disney took a public stand against Desantis. They came because Disney threatened to withhold campaign donations based on taking a side on a social issue.

I just can't imagine being the Disney CEO forever known as the one that lost this arrangement. What a resume entry that is.

It's always been such a historic story related to the founding of Walt Disney World, just beyond sad IMO.

Bob Chapek has a far, far nicer smile than Josh D'Amaro. Period.

Sincerely, the Unofficial Bob Chapek Apologist.

I don't think most would agree. On the Disney College Parents Facebook group they were selling t-shirts with a slogan "My Favorite Disney Ride" Josh's picture was above the caption. The shirts sold out within a day. The mom's were lusting after Josh. :)

While not thrilled with Chapek from a park perspective (Genie+, DME, etc) I'd hardly pin the Reedy Creek loss on him. Disney took a stance on a social issue - one that, at least in my opinion - they're on the right side of.

I said the CEO in charge when it was lost. It will be on his resume.

Stop giving the loud voices all the attention.....

  1. There are just as many, if not more, cast members and park goers in favor of "Florida's HB 1557 Bill".
  2. There are plenty who think Reedy Creek Improvement District has outlived it's intent, and should be repealed.

One side of our political spectrum frequently resorts to just trying to outshout the other and if you don't agree with them, their goal is to destroy you. Just wish we could go back to respecting everyones opinion. It doesn't always have to be about right or wrong.

Election integrity and everyone having the opportunity to cast a SINGLE LEGAL vote is more important than ever.

We elected our politicians to do a job, let them do it. you get your say at the ballot box.

Disney did take a stance, only after being pressured into doing so. Large donations to many politicians that supported the bill and said nothing as it was being crafted and rolled out. The stance is virtue signaling to angry employees. Facts are Facts.

I disagree, as I do fully pin it on him. Under his leadership Disney released a statement saying they stated, “Our goal as a company is for this law to be repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts.." This wasn't an aim just at DeSantis, but the FL Legislature as a whole. That is a powerful statement by a multinational corporation with deep pockets and it was a not so thinly veiled threat too. I think without that type of a statement that this whole RCID issue probably would have continued to lay on the floor. It would not have been pushed through as it did.

I believe that the Board could and should fire Chapek now, it could go a long way to resolving some issues and allow a new CEO to mend fences not only with the State of Florida but also with the employees at Disney. Chapek has lost to much credibility at this point IMHO.
