We have a wooden, box-type trash can in our kitchen. It has a wooden lid, with green lettering that says "trash bin". You put a plastic bag inside it.

We have had this trash bin since we got married....18 years ago!

I have cleaned and sanded it numerous times over the years.
Why don't I just go out and buy a new one??

It didn't even enter my mind to replace it until fairly recently when I spotted a nice chrome can at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Okay...the chrome can costs 100.00, but I would still get it cuz I like it....but...I just can't bring myself to get rid of the old one. I know it's time has come, but I think I would miss it, lol.

So anyway...do you have any household items whose time has come, but you just can't seem to replace them...for sentimental reasons?

:D

Or, am I just wierd?? LOL

ps....how do you spell weird?:teeth:

YES! 2 items actually!

The first is a stand mixer - it was my GRANDMOTHER'S! My Mom remembers using it when she was young. It still works great tho. I think about replacing it every once in a while, but I think it would be too hard.

The other is a table-top clock. It is very large - it looks like the top of a grandfather clock. It has not run in about 15 years, but I think someone gave it to my parents for their wedding, so that makes it 30 years old. The mechanisms inside cannot be replaced anymore and we did not want to gut it and put in a battery operated system. So, there it sits on a side table in our dining room.

Who's next?:D

when I was younger we had this old wicker laundry basket, my brother, sister and I used it, when we got older and started to need our old laundry baskets my Mom got new ones for my brother and sister and would have gotten a new one for me, but I liked the old one, my Mom just told me that she thinks it might have been her grandmother's but I didn't know that, I just liked it, and I will probably keep it for quite a while.

My Mom has this old chest that up intill two days ago has been sitting in her bedroom with nothing but two old blankets that we never use in it, she finally moved it down to the basement, but refuses to throw it away.

How about getting some of that spray on metalic paint?? :p

I would have a hard time forking over a hundred bucks for a garbage can.

hehehehe

well, I just divide $100.00 by 18 yrs., and it doesn't seem so bad.

me too! :)

I have a couch I have needed to get rid of for awhile but I am cheap when it comes to large purchases.

We went to a tag sale and they had these cherry Futons, new in the box - 10 of them - for $25 each.

Tomorrow I am going to get the cushion and cover for it. And I spent $65 for a handmade quilt to keep nearby too.

I will pay 10-15 times for the cushion and cover what I paid for the frame, but it's cheaper than a plain old couch, plus we love the Futon because we can snuggle on it and watch TV.

In with the Futon, out with the old couch!

WoW...great deal on the futon, Jipsy!

Anyone else have any items that need replacing?:D

I was thinking boo boo was a pet of yours, and you would say you needed to replace it because it was pooping all over the place, lol.

If that were the case, I would have replied...
"From the sound of some of your posts....so do you!!"
:teeth::teeth::teeth:

(sorry, couldn't resist):D
