Why can't I buy an annual pass?

Isn't it bad enough that we are not allowed the Disney credit card!
Now when you go on Disney's web site, when you try and buy tickets, in my case I want to buy an annual pass, they very kindly direct you to UK type tickets like the 10 day world pass. How very kind. I don't want a 4/5 hopper, or a 10 day wp, I want to buy a single premium annual pass, and then 3 FITS tickets from Paramount when they become available for July 2004!
How much harder are Disney going to make it for UK visitors to buy the tickets they actually want.
I feel better now...

I don't think there is any benefit to buying annual passes in advance. It's very straightforward to buy them when you arrive, and you get to keep your money in your bank account rather than in Disney's bank account.

True... But if the exchange rate starts to fall back to $1.50 or below, I'd rather buy sooner rather than later. It was only a couple of years ago I remember getting the princely sum of $1.34 for every pound!

If you're worried about the exchange rate falling back again perhaps it would be a good idea to buy your dollars now?

Disney now offers discounts for buying passes online, but as Ian says, we can no longer buy from the US site.

I didn't realise that. How much is the discount? Would it be possible to enter a fictitous address and collect the tickets when you arrive?

There is no discount for buying AP's in advance - only 'little' passes like Hoppers, and if you want the discount with those, I believe you can just ring up Disney and buy them over the phone just as you would for an AP :) (You can just arrange to pick them up at the 'Will call' window if you want to save on shipping.)

Have you tried phoning? We couldn't get the tickets we wanted from the US web site and they didn't feature on the UK one so I phoned Disney (in the US) and they said the tickets were available to non-US citizens so we purchased them there & then & they arrived about a week later.

This was a few months ago so things may have changed by now - could be worth a try though.

I think I might buy through the Disney Club while I still can. We'll save $20 and take advantage of the good current rate.
