Why Can I Modify Fast Pass Selections When MDX Says None Are Available?

I keep trying to change some experiences we have fast passes for during our upcoming March trip, and notice in the list of experiences not available several that I have made fast passes for, namely Navi River, Star Tours, Safari, Peter Pan, Mine Train. But, if I go to modify the times for these listed as no longer available, it gives me quite a few times available I can change to. Doesn't make sense to me that I can change times if they are no longer available. I wondered if it is easier to cancel a fast pass and try to add a harder to get one than just keep the fast passes I have and try to modify the experience.

Because you can't get 2 fastpasses for the same ride, so it won't show available as a new experience but it will show times if you just want to modify.

So I guess I can trust it when it says there are no fast passes for the different experiences I want to change to then-sadly!

Do not cancel "the old" fastpass first before getting the "new fastpass."

A few moments later you might find that there are really no times remaining for the "new fastpass" and you end up with neither.

If you're looking at the times in blue above (MDE app) or white at the top (website), those aren't actually available times. That's just times you can check if they are available within that range.

Ex:

If you want to change NRJ to a 10:00AM FP, then you would into the original FP>change>choose 10AM If there's any FP's available in that range (usually can be a 1-2 hr range) it will show you times you can choose. Otherwise it will say "no experiences available".

As the above poster said, never cancel FP's

I do understand searching for times, and the list of available times-but I had never noticed that fast passes for experiences I already had would be automatically listed under experiences unavailable, especially since I could modify their times if I wanted. Through the years, I continuously learn from these boards! That's why I am hoping to snag a FP for SDD or FOP while we are in the park, or just get in line 15 minutes before park closing for those rides. And I check multiple times a day anyway!

Something I just realized is you might be coming across the Tier System. NRJ and FOP are Tier 1. All rides w/ FP at DHS except Star Tours are Tier 1. If you already have a Tier 1 ride FP and you're trying to modify a Tier 2, then any Tier 1 ride experiences won't be available. You would have to modify NRJ to FOP or whichever Tier 1 you have for DHS to another Tier 1.
