Why Call to Book a Cruise vs. Going Online?

I've read a few post with people talking being on hold for hours to book their cruise? What is the advantage of calling vs. booking online? We booked our cruise in less than 5 minutes this morning online. What am I missing?

If you are using a placeholder from an onboard booking, you have to call in to use it. Those of us that are Platinum and Gold who wanted to book yesterday also had to call in for opening day rates.

Got it. That makes total sense. Totally sucks, but makes sense.

It's frustrating sitting there with the cabin I wanted right in front of me on the computer, available, but stuck on hold waiting for DCL, but the savings and perks of using a placeholder makes it worth it.
