Why are these so expensive?

Digital photo frames?

The best deal I can find on a 10" frame is almost $250, and that is for one with poor resolution.

For that price, you could get an excellent LCD computer monitor, and it'd be bigger with better resolution and much higher contrast ratio.

(Thinking of ways to make one myself)

I was wondering the same thing! I would like one for myself for Christmas, and one to give as a gift, but can't get over the cost for a quality one with internal memory. I think I saw a thread on the photography board here about them. Have been reading a LOT. Just can't decide whether to get one now or wait.

I have been eyeing them and wondering the same thing. On the one hand, they are SO COOL. On the other hand, they are so pricey for what you get! I'm thinking I will wait until the prices come down or the quality goes up.

They had the 7 in. ones at Target yesterday for 68.00. My mom picked one up to give to me as a Christmas present. I'm hoping it's as nice as it seems. :)

Definitely be careful about resolution when buying these. The low-res frames are less expensive, but are really blurry.

QVC is selling one for under $100.00 and they go up in price from there. You could give it a look.

They're new. Just like anything they'll probably be less than half that price next year. I think they're cute but not THAT cute!

I think I will wait a year. The ones I like are in the $200 price range. Just not worth that. Can't find specs on the cheaper ones and many don't offer good resolution nor internal storage. I have read a LOT the last week on them. Saw the ones in Brookstone (from above link) the other day! Pricey! Sam's Club had one that looks nice and played music too, just can't find all the specs on it.

Here is another one for Cyber Monday at Staples. It requires some rebates though.

Thanks. I just took a look to see since my dh and I want one too but I will wait for the price.
The Staples one doesn't look like it has an internal memory and therefore once you take your memory card out, no more pictures.
Can someone, PLEASE :lovestruc , confirm this for me.
Also, if it does have a memory, can anyone who knows anything about these (I am technology challenged) tell me if the resolution is ok, will it be blurry?
Thank you very much.
If it is ok, I may purchase one for a gift for him (me LOL).

Sorry, I know nothing about these. I am challenged in the tech department. ;)
