Why are there hardly any deluxe hotels available in February?

I thought I had seen a code like last month or so but at that time I didn't think we'd be going to the world anytime soon, now I'm checking for the week of 2/2 - 2/10 and the Contemporary is not available, neither is GF, no standard rooms at WL, no rooms at all at the S/D!

I'm not sure if this is the reason or not, but the college I attended held its spring break during February, and I believe that many others do so as well. Although, the first week in Feb. does seem a bit too early for that.

We have a friend who is there for a convention every year this exact week and they will be agin this year. Maybe that is why.

Alot of people from Louisiana go for the Mardi Gras break. This year it is the week of Feb 4th. We ususally go every year around this time and I noticed ALOT of people there from Louisiana last year. You can usually spot them, they are the ones with Mardi Gras beads and purple, green and gold shirts.

I was told last year by a CM that Feb. is "convention time" for Disney. Hope that helps.

A few different things are going on...Mardi Gras, I beleive there are a few conventions...and also National Cheerleading Comps or the National Dance Comps.

Usually the cheer and dance teams stay at a value or mod, I am not sure how much Mardi Gras will impact things.

If anything, maybe it is the conventions??? Especially if it is the deluxes.

When I went this past Feb during the first week, there was a HUGE International Home Builders Convention, they were spread out at many of the resorts, including POFQ where we stayed. The good news was that they did not seem to impact the park crowds very much at all.
