Why are the Disneyland boards here on DIS so strangely organized?

Isn't that the truth? The DLR boards is a smaller community, and dare I say, gentler group.

As someone who has switched back and forth between the WDW and DL boards here, I have to say that it can be a jarring experience. Coming here after a few years hanging around the WDW boards, reading the posts feels like eating pink cotton candy until you want to puke.

Then you get into the mellow and helpful vibe here. After a while, the WDW boards starts to look like a noisy collection of angry, judgmental maniacs.

I would also note that podcast listeners know that Pete Werner (the Walt Disney of the Dreams Unlimited Empire) loves the DISboards like a child, but sometimes regrets ever starting this community because some people abuse it so badly. Thankfully, you find almost none of that on the main DL board, and with the vigilant and diligent moderators on the task, I'm sure it will stay that way even the number of posters grows.

With due respect to the OP, I will add my endorsement for the status quo.

The only thing that bugs me about the DIS boards is the Disneyland..the ORIGINAL is WAAAAAAYY down toward the bottom

When I venture into the WDW area, I get sooo confused. There are so many boards over there! I love the setup of the DL board area!

Thanks guys. We really appreciate your comments here. Sherry, Judy, & I really try hard to keep this the friendly corner of the DIS, and so many of you are on the same page, you make it easy for us.

Having said that, I'm going to move this over to the DL Community Board.

btw - I am subscribed to this board and a few others that I frequent more often. I have my bookmark set to my usercp (http://www.disboards.com/usercp.php) so that when I come to the DIS I see a very abbreviated list of forums to visit. It makes it easier for me to moderate and also to read the boards that interest me the most.

After a few years of lurking and NOW posting all the time I totally agree with this!!! Although I enjoy BOTH boards! Such a wealth of information on EVERYTHING & ANYTHING about Disney! I have lived by DL all my life but never appreciated it as much as I do today being a DVC member which the World boards have helped me to see! The DL board makes my frequent DL trips easier to manage & more enjoyable than ride after ride etc...! It's been fun let's keep this going!!

I like that most everything goes on the main board. I consider DLR my "home park" but have also been to WDW twice. At WDW, the difference between in-resort and outside WDW is so pronounced they can separate things much easier. Plus food is a much bigger deal at WDW, so they have boards, and sub-boards (they have one just about making dining reservations!) At DLR, staying, playing, and eating on and off-property is so much more intertwined.

Thanks for the work the mods do to keep us a happy little family.

I love the way this board is set up. I am having to navigate the WDW boards right now for my extended family and it is a nightmare having to switch around so much. I understand why they need it, but I am much happier with my one stop planning here!

<snip>... It's much more laid back on the DL boards. And dare I say it - you never have to put on your "flame retardant" suit on the DL boards whereas people often start their posts on the WDW boards saying "I know I'll get flamed for this" or "Don't flame me, but..." Threads are often shut down on the WDW boards. I never saw discussions about pool hopping on the DL boards until just this past week and it didn't get heated.

Enjoy the west coast/CA sunshine/kool-aid and feel yourself relax.
