Why are some of the close hotels so cheap?

I know some will disagree with me here but to me you're in DISNEYLAND and spending your time in the park, not the room.

When you have 2 little ones that take naps and you're pregnant, you learn to appreciate the room a lot more! That said cleanliness is the most important thing to me. My kids touch everything!

Are you saying that you wouldn't stay at this hotel?

I've stayed at the Desert Inn and Suites before and it was fine. Close to the park and clean. I was looking at staying there for my visit next weekend, but it was much more expensive than I wanted to pay.

Could you please tell me if the Super 8 is the one below. Looking for an inexpensive hotel in the area.

Super 8 Anaheim/Disneyland Drive
915 S. Disneyland Drive
I-5 Exit Ball Road

yes, that's the one. i haven't stayed at the other super 8 in the area, but this one we were just at in September, and the rooms were super clean and very newly renovated.

I don't know if that's what the other poster meant or not. I will say this though....when we stayed at Desert Inn we went back to the room every day for a nap and my son had no problem sleeping...it was very quiet.
And like I said....Desert Inn was clean when we were there, or I wouldn't have stayed.

The reason we stayed at the Desert Inn was it came highly reccommended on this board during our planning for our first trip.

okay got a question how is desert inn and suites situated with disneyland ( i know it is across the street) but is there rooms facing the park also what other way do they face?? i know that the parlour A suites are on teh 3rd and 4th floor and i requested not near stairs or elevator lol but i would like a view of disneyland also, should i call back and request this?
Thanks

My sister and her family had a parlor suite and they could see bits of the fireworks one night through a window they had. We didn't have a view of anything but the hallway. We were right by the back stairs. When we came out door we could see DCA.

well i decided to call and tehy said none of the parlour a suites face disneyland lol, oh well we will mostly be sleeping there .

I guess they "technically" don't face Disneyland. But from their window you could just barely get a glimpse of it. You're going to enjoy it no matter what.

i just booked desert inn and suites, will i be dissapointed? we were going to do homewood suites but we are saving $146 plus teh cost of the ART, for a family of 6
Thanks
i can still cancel lol

On our first Disney trip we stayed there. We were only there 1 night. It was suite style, but I don't recall if there was a fridge or microwave. It was more than fine for us. It was fairly motel like, but it did what it served! We didn't hang out at the hotel at all- just came to it and slept! Everything seemed nice and clean- we were on the second floor. And the people that worked there were very nice and friendly.

Here is the DL hotel map

WE did see the fireworks over space mountain out our window it was a good showing. Only I miss the music. However some kids would rather see them from a far cuz the don't like the noise

Everyone has a choice or 2, or 3, or maybe 5 different hotels they like and check for price, cleanliness, niceness of staff, and Closeness to the DL Entrance, or pool!

Also you can order water and soda and food from Vons, to be delivered to your hotel.

I have stayed there 2 times once in 07 and once in 08 and Im going to stay there again in may 09.

It is close and clean and a place to lay my head cant ask for much more.

I did stay at the hojo oct 08 and loved it for the entertainment price but when I go in may they only had a few days at the entertainment rate.

I'm not exactly sure why the Desert Inn is cheap but I sure hope they never decide to up their prices. We have stayed there on all 8 of our extended stay trips (10+ days per trip) so when we head to DL it's almost like our home away from home. As a matter of fact, DS-18 protested when I suggested trying anywhere else because he said DI is part of our "tradition".

If you are happy with a room that supplies all your basic needs it will be just fine. However, if you are partial to staying in swanky places DI probably would not live up to your expectations.

They were the best deal I found for our first trip and have remained so ever since. Our favorite things about staying at DI are:
  1. Reasonable rates
  2. Proximity to the park
  3. Clean & comfy
  4. Large rooms. We go with the C-2 Family Suite, which is basically 2 standard rooms, for the extra space and 2 bathrooms.
  5. Separate small living area
  6. Fridge & Microwave
  7. Convenience store downstairs
  8. Internet access
  9. In room movies
  10. Denney's on one side & Cold Stone Creamery on other side

thank you , i think we will be very satisfied with this hotel.
Thanks for letting me know about vons delivery.
Does the target sell groceries , like fruit etc?
