Why are photos now .jpe instead of .jpg?

I'm trying to upload my photos from my trip to Costco's website and some of them won't take because apparently even though they are JPEG photos, they are not .jpg but .jpe which their website doesn't support. I looked and apparently all my photos from stuff I took on day 2 all the way to last week here at home are now saved like that. Is that because I had bought a new memory card while I was on vacation? I'm so confused. I need these photos printed.

Just replace the .jpe with .jpg. Should work.

They are not .jpe files, they are usually.jpeg (.jpg with the added e). Some programs and computers can't handle 4 letter file types and just drop the last letter, making it .jpe. Like dmaxpgil said, just rename them to .jpg and you'll be fine.
