Why Are Ouija Boards Sold In Toy Departments?

Yes, agreed.

I believe that people can sit around in a room in the dark with candles, cheetos and a Scrabble game and try to contact the spirit world.

add some beer and that sounds like a pretty decent party. :flower: :flower: :cheer2:

*cough* Capitalism *cough* ...what America was founded on *cough*

Really? *cough* In the history classes I took, I was taught that our country was founded to escape tyranny and taxation without representation. I didn't know that there were references to *cough* capitalism in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.

"Attention Wal-Mart shopeprs... It has come to our attention that Ouija games are evil. We ask that you take them out of your carts and come to our sporting goods section where we will be having a 25% off sale on our semi-automatic weapons and ammunition."

Frankly, I'm quite amazed by the number of people here who really are freaked out by Ouija boards - I honestly always thought they were a silly game.

So, my question is - if they're this worrisome, why are they sold in toy stores or toy departments of places like Wal-Mart?

Should they be relegated to specialty shops like magic stores or witchcraft stores?

Just wondering your thoughts.

Because the majority of the population thinks they are nothing but toys and react like chadfromdallas. They are just wrong.

I won't hijack this thread to debate with you about the "evil walmart". This is the last thing I will say on this subject...

Free markets and freedom of choice: These American values are the true victims of this war on Wal-Mart.

Do you think I can contact the tag fairy with one??? :rotfl:

Just in case: :mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar

At the risk of continuing the hijacking...

WalMart had succeeded in great part due to their shady and often illegal business practices. Just one of many examples...Currently they are being sued here by a smaller grocery store chain because they were caught sending their lower level employees into a store in an area where they are contemplating building yet another WalMart.

They weren't just price checking, they had scanners with them so they could record not only the prices, but the stores entire purchasing history. That's illegal.

A true free market is the last thing WalMart wants.

Lol. And you think other stores don't do that? However, I have to say that my exhusband worked for Walmart. They never asked him to do that though they did send him out with a digital camera to price check.

A true free market is the last thing any business wants. They always want to beat every price everywhere to bring more customers to them.

Don't go thinking that Walmart is the only one to do that. I know of at least three other stores that have done the exact same thing and theres not a thing that anyone can do about it except kick them out when they are discovered.

Of course there is something they can do about it and this chain is doing just that. WalMart has had a restraining order put on them preventing anyone employed by them to enter the store, unless of course they are simply shopping.

If WalMart wanted to track a stores history, they are free to buy the item and do whatever they want to with it after that. What they can't do is download the competitors private purchasing information from an item without purchasing it. A digital camera won't do that.

They always want to beat every price everywhere to bring more customers to them.

WalMart artificially lowers prices to undercut the competition, often selling below cost. They succeed because they can withstand the loss long enough for smaller businesses to fold. Then, they're the only game in town and their prices go right back up. That's not the same as simply beating a competitor's price.

They've been successfully sued for fixing gas prices, they've been sued for forcing employees to work overtime with no overtime pay...the list goes on and on.

Myself and quite a few of my friends are practicing Wiccans. Do you think we are evil? Just curious.

ROTFLOL! :teeth: I can just picture the two of them. :teeth:

Buy them, don't buy them, use them as toys, use them as mediums, burn them, kiss them, I don't care. But I guess from everyone pulling out all of their old boards to see if that little thingy will move without actually pushing it, or buying them off the shelves, to do evil or good, there's a lot of dust flying around, lots of coughing going on in this thread. Nyquil anyone? ;)
