Why are my feet getting bigger - when the rest of me is getting smaller? Or...

Have the manufacturers changed how they "size" shoes; boots; slippers; etc.??

Last winter I purchased new boots - which I had no need to actually wear until this winter.. Then about a month ago, I ordered myself a pair of slippers online which are "supposed" to be 7/8.. (Same with the boots..) When I buy sneakers, I usually get a 7 and a half because along with having "piano" fingers, I'm also cursed with "piano toes" - LOL..:rotfl::rotfl:

Anyhow - both feel extremely tight to me and I don't understand why.. My feet are just as skinny as the rest of me, so it doesn't seem likely that I'd be needing to order 8/9's now.. :confused3

Anyone else have this problem?

Also - any ideas on how I can stretch them - short of going out and buying traditional shoe stretchers? It's too late to return the boots - and for the price of the slippers, it's not worth the hassle of having to return them by mail.. They're exactly what I wanted though - hard soled - and as high as boots (for the late fall/early winter at the lake) - with a nice, fuzzy lining..:thumbsup2

Ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks! :goodvibes

I find sometime when I buy shoes. I can wear one size in one brand and another size in another brand. Sometime if my feet are swoollen that will make them another size
