Why and how often do you use the Search Function?

What I mean is, do you search for information regarding resort info, restaurant reviews, etc?

Or do you use it to trace another DISer's threads from the past?

Just wondering! :D

I rarely use it at all anymore, but in the past I've used the search function exclusively to look up info on the Swan and Dolphin, as well as the Polynesian (before we had ever stayed there.)

i use it too look up things for trip planning. most often though, i'll think of something i remembered reading (like a recipe, or a link i want to find that i remember being posted) and try to find it.

ocassionally i have used it to look up another person's posts -- especially on the debate board.

I use it most frequently when I first notice another poster.

I search on their posts to see what and where they've already posted so that I can get a better idea of what their posting personality is like.

Also, I'm curious to know whether they're planning a WDW trip. If it's someone who comes across as nice and they're planning a trip, I'll try to lend whatever advice I can. Since so many DISers were helpful to me when I first came here for trip planning advice, I like to be helpful myself now that I'm a Disney veteran.

I don't use it much at all because everytime I try it's not working  but I used to use it to research resorts a lot (it takes a long time to weed through the resorts board when you are only looking for info on one resort), Trip reports (I'd try to find specific reports for a resort, or for reports that had a DD my DD's age, restaurants, something that I was interested in) and lots of general things.
I just tried again this morning, I wanted to get some search results for the Contemporary and the Contemporary Concierge since there is a possibility we might be able to stay there next trip. Didn't work though.

I use it to look for info on theme parks and on the resorts board. I use it to look for chat ads that need to be deleted. Sometimes I will use it to look for another poster, if I haven't seen them in a while, to see if they have posted anywhere recently.

I use it when I read trip reports to pull up all reports in a series so I don't miss any :)

I also have used it in the past for specific information.

I sometimes use it to "catch up" on posts from some of my buddies, since I don't have much time to be on the boards.

But more than not, my Search function comes up "disabled by the administrator" lately . . .:(

I used to use it all the time for different reasons. If I wanted to get to know a bit more about a poster for whatever reason I would search to see what they'd post about (especially good for exchanges to see if I can get hints on what would be good to send). I also would remember old posts and search for them to see if I could find them again. Other times I would just look for information and use search for that instead of posting a question again. I use it for many reasons :)

This may just be a coincidence, but when the search function is disabled, the DIS moves very quickly for me! Since I'm still on an old fashioned dial up, it's kind of slow anyway, but when it's disabled, it's faster!

I don't use it too often. Especially since it is disabled a lot of the time lately.

If I do use it though it is to look up what someone might have posted about a topic.

I like to type in my own name so I can bring up all threads I've started or been replying to... that way I can see if anyone has questions for me or if there is more I want to read about a topic. I also use it to research specific resorts, restaurants, events, etc. I think it's very useful and it REALLY bugs me when it's disabled.

I use it for I think all the above, except debate stuff, never go there. I really depend on it.

I use it occasionally to search hotel info, restaurant reviews, etc...
However I mainly use it to follow threads of certain Dis Posters.

Like Deb, I use it usually on Modays to see what I missed over the weekend with certain people. I too, seem to always be getting that disabled message.

I use it to find threads that I know I've posted to in the past, to see if anything "new" has been posted to them. Also, if I look for something specific, like resorts or restaurants. I've also used it - not to "stalk" someone, but if someone posts an opinion I find unusual or offensive, I'll look up other posts by them to see it these opinions carry through from thread to thread - or if it is just this one thread/subject that this person feels that way about. Sometimes it helps to know a little background on posters opinions to help us see "where they are coming from". Is the Search function going to be fixed anytime soon?

I use it if I have a question for another board but want to make sure it hasn't been covered recently. And if I'm reading a post that I think I may have missed some prior info.

I try to PM someone each day or at least I used to try to. When it was someone I didn't know too well, I would hunt for their posts to try to say something they could relate to. I don't use it much anymore because it has always been disabled.

I mostly use it when trip planning to see if a particular topic has been discussed in the recent past.

I have on occassion used it to search a particular person's recent posts if I have a question about what they have posted.
