WHY am I up at 4:30 AM? Cell phones, batteries, and PEOPLE WHO DON'T USE CHARGERS!

DH, DS14 and DD12 all have the same kind of cell phone, and it chimes LOUDLY when the battery is dying. I'd say at least once every couple of weeks I'm up in the middle of the night figuring out WHOSE phone is dead, finding it, and putting it on the charger. And then I'm lucky if I can get back to sleep.

If they didn't have the phones for my convenience I'd take them away from them!

Rant over.

I had a snack and DISed for a bit, so I'm going to try to go back to sleep now...

LOL, I'm at work trying to make it until 7:00 LOL

Good morning, sunshine. Welcome to my world. I'm up at 4:30 AM every weekday so I can have a small breakfast before leaving for work. I'll be out the door in just a couple of minutes.

I know this early hour must seem very unfriendly to someone who is not used to it, but I can actually get quite a few things done before I head into the office. I also build time into my schedule in case I get stuck behind school buses on the way to meet my carpool (yep, there are other people just as crazy as me).

There are 3 cell phones in my house. They beep loudly, too, but on weekends I ignore it until the offender gets up to take care of it, or I will track the phone down when I get up. On weekdays I'll just go ahead and find the phone and take care of it. But let me tell you, I have NO trouble ignoring the beep on weekends.

OK, I'm off to work. Ya'll have a great day.

Too funny (well not really) - I' have that happen in our house too, only it's usually my cell phone that is doing it!

This week it's been Maia (aka Stitch) the yorkie who has her internal alarm set all wrong. Three mornings she came into the room and started barking at 5:23 - (really same exact time), if that wasn't bad enough it was 4:57 this morning! Thank goodness day light savings is coming! It's not that she needs to go out or anything - she is just bored and barking to get Princess (the other dog who generally sleeps in bed with me) to get up and PLAY with her!

I did get back to sleep, so I am feeling a bit sunnier now.

Last night I was actually incorporating the chiming into my dream, but it was keeping me just enough awake...until finally it completely woke me up and I realized it was NOT the warning signal telling me I hadn't made my race selection, and that it was not going to stop until I got up and stopped it.

I don't even remember what kind of race it was; I just remember being frustrated because I HAD made my race selection and the warning signal still wouldn't stop.

but can't you get them into the habit of putting their phones on the chargers before they go to bed each nite?..then they wouldn't wake anyone..especially you..and they would always be charged?

For real. This isn't rocket science.

Had cell phones been around during my childhood years, and had my mother been awakened by a chiming low battery cell phone at 430 AM, she would have woken me up to deal with the issue.

Probably by putting the chiming cell phone on the pillow next to my head.

She does not suffer fools well, my mother...actions had consequences. The action of not properly charging my cell phone would have had the consequence of me being awakened at 430AM some morning to take care of the problem. ;)

Yes it is...she's talking about teens here! Everything that requires a teeny bit of effort is rocket science to them! LOL :teeth: Except for her DH...but that just speaks for itself. :teeth:

Actually, no we're not. We're talking about a 48 year old man in this case! And as many times as I've whined about this to all of them, it still happens. So really the only solution is for ME to gather up all the cell phones at night and make sure they're on chargers.

As I've said, they have the cell phones for my benefit and not theirs (including DH; he resisted having one up until a couple of years ago when I forced the issue...)

Barb..if your DH is like mine it's hopeless. We have Tracfones (pre paid) Last night he comes up to me and said, why didn't you put airtime on my phone, the minutes expired on the 11th? It's his phone, I don't look at it at all. Was I supposed to be a mind reader and know it was expired? He now knows that he needs to tell me these things BEFORE it expires not way after or I will not be responsible for my actions!

I'm sorry, I really am, but if it makes you feel any better, I was up yesterday morning at 4am to get ready for work. And this morning I was awake by 4 am, even though I didn't need to be up before 5:30. So I feel your pain. :grouphug: But just think...IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :hyper: :hyper: :dancer: :rockband: party: :jumping1:

:hippie: Peace out brother...what that means I have no idea, just came to me.

So what would happen if, instead of putting the phone on the charger, you woke up the phone owner and told them to put it on the charger?

My friend is a rocket scientist, and a father of three. There are many days he can't wait to get back to work, which he considers the easier of the two jobs.
