In our house? I do. If if find it in the couch, on the counter, in the washing machine, etc. It belongs to me. I don't search for the owner, I simply confiscate it. ;) That said, I put it in an empty laundry detergent container and when its full, I roll them up. In fact, its cold and damp here today, so I rolled them up. I ran out of quarter wrappers, so I will pick some up and then haul it off to the bank. The last time we I spent the money, we used it for an excursion/tour when we all went to Hawaii in 2006. I have been saving those nickels, dimes, quarters and pennies since. Today I added them up...$752. Some banks limit the amount of coins they will take. I hope ours didn't change their policy.

I also own it in our family up to a $5.00 bill. Over $5.00 I look for the owner.

My husband collects is and takes it to the bank a couple of times a year, usually at Christmas and right before vacation. I'm always amazed at how much is collected.

I can't believe you still roll it! Don't they take it out of the rolls to put it through the counting machine anyway?

I have a jar on the counter that I collect change in. My DD's have been doing their own laundry for years so that's not a issue here.

Our banks will not take rolled coins but they will dump the bucket and count it for us free of charge as long as we have an account there.

I take any and all loose change or bills found around the house and in the wash. If I find the money before the clothes go into the washer, then I return it to it's rightful owner; if I find it after it's washed, it's mine! I do put it all towards our vacation fund though. DH rolled our coins before our trip to Disneyland this past summer and we had something like $350!

At our house, whoever collects it, owns it.

everyone knows i'll end up grabbing it if it's in "public domain" (anywere inclucing in clothes when i do the laundry but your own bedroom)-and it ends up in a large container.

when we do a larger vacation it gets gathered up for spending money (and the kids go through the cars though it's slim pickings in mine because i toss mine in a tupperware container and regularly use it to avoid getting more change).

lucky us-the credit union will take as much as we schlep in and it does'nt have to be rolled. they toss it into their coin counter and we are done.

In our home it belongs to the person that finds it as long as it's coins. Paper money of any denomination goes back to the owner.

I haven't very lucky lately though because DH now gets a gas card from work. They have to drive their own cars. For everything else he uses his debit card.

My Disney tin - literally, a tin from WDW that had candy in it and now holds my change for a future Disney trip - is looking pretty lonely. :(

We have a plastic Lion King cup on the kitchen windowsill and all change goes in there so we all own it. It comes in handy when DS needs change for the gym/I need just enough for a loaf of bread - so I'm not tempted to buy more :)/I take change to buy the Sunday paper.

It's there for us all to use.

For the most part all change goes either to our disney fund jar or to a charity jar.

1 and 5 dollar bills are put toward Disney.

It goes in my sons piggy bank
He loves to put the money in and hopefully it will help him learn to save.

No, they didn't have one four years ago. I don't know what they have now. They had boxes that fit each particular roll.

Our house the general rule is "finders keepers losers weepers", unless of course we know who lost it.

As far as spare change goes, our rule is no one EVER spends quarters. We have a paint can we've been collecting quarters in for a few years -- and that's going to be our spending money for Disney. I can't wait to count it: who knows, maybe it'll be enough to start a fund for our next trip, 'cause I'm hoping there will be a ne ne soon!

The one who does the laundry. ;)

Seriously, it all goes into the charity box.

My old bank would just put it in the machine. My new bank makes you roll it. I hate it. For this very reason, the change in our house usually belongs to whoever is feeling ambitious enough to roll it up. Last time I cleaned $40 in change just out of my purse. :scared1: It's really just DH and I at the house so we stick the change in a jar and when it's rolled, it's deposited in the savings account.

Me:cool1:it goes in this empty water bottle I have that I have change in. Sometimes if the kids find it they will be going crazy they find it but most of the time they put it in the change jar anyway:confused3

My husband collects it. He's got buckets full under the bed, stored in the garage, etc. It must be a standoff thing because nobody is going to roll that stuff.

I do. I have a big bucket that it goes into and every once in a while I roll it and deposit it to the vacation account.

It goes in a jar and the kids cash it in for spending money for vacations.
