Greetings from Allentown.....Jen, I found your TR when you posted about the GOPHILS discount for Southwest.
You will love F&W Fest. I have done a Ladies Only trip for the past three years. The DH's have started grumbling so we are taking them this year. We used up all of our DVC points (3 yrs worth) last June for a 3 BR GV at OKW. It was wonderful. Besides, there is no better place to stay for F&W than the Beach Club. So, that is where we shall be.

The key to drinking around the world is to stay hydrated with water. DH and my best friend's DH drank around the world in June 2009. The temperture was about 98. Despite us repeatedly telling them to drink water.....:confused:confused3 :scared1:

Hey! Just found your TR and I am enjoying it! I do have a question for you....you mentioned that you do get motion sickness, as do I but I really would love to go on TOT or RnR with my 14 yr old. I know you said you love those, so do you think the average person with motion sickness would be ok on those, or are you just used to them? I would hate to be miserable for a whole day just to see what all the fuss is about, but I really want to try one of those rides, if not both. Thanks!!

Hi! :wave2: Thanks for joining in on the TR! So glad you're enjoying it!

Ah, the beloved motion sickness... *said with extreme sarcasm*....

I have learned that everyone's motion sickness is a little different. I've found mine to be the worst in stop and go driving (as passenger). Some one breaking hard unexpectedly (especially if I'm looking down) will do me in for at least 30-60 minutes. I also have problems on BIG roller coasters - especially ones that have the track above you and you are hanging down, with feet dangling. (On those kinds, I can NOT sit on the end - it makes it worse.)

When I go to any other amusement park (our local Dorney Park, for example), I take a Dramamine before going on the rides. That seems to help alot. I get the "less drowsy" formula. When in comes to the motion sickness pills, nothing's perfect. Nothing gets rid of the feeling completely. I used to take Bonine, but all it did was LESSEN my dizzy headache and nausea. Dramamine completely gets rid of my nausea, but leaves me with a little bit of dizzy headache. I'd rather not have the nausea, so that's why Dramamine is my choice.

Now, after saying all that, I DO NOT have motion sickness problems at Disney. (Except Mission Space Orange.) The rides just aren't that intense when compared to other thrill rides at traditional amusement parks.

Free falling does not give me issues, so ToT has never been a problem. I LOVE the feeling of free falling! RRC is very short, so it doesn't really bother me. I'm sure if I rode it several times in a row, I would start feeling it. Make sure on coasters and stuff that you keep your head back against the head rest area and that you're looking forward the whole time. Then you should be fine.

My advice would be to get some Dramamine if you're a little reluctant, and then just try the rides. The Disney "thrill rides" really are "roller coaster lite" type rides. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

:thumbsup2 congrats on your trip and your flight!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I can't wait. I've SO got Disney on the brain lately - especially with just booking our flights AND with official ADR's in place for the girls' trip in October.

I am SO GLAD not to be driving!!!!! :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

flying out of allentown?

flying out of allentown?

Nope - doing the non-stop flights out of Philly with Southwest.

(Southwest in July, USAir in October)

Allentown is convenient, but I have yet to see better prices flying out of there in the last few years.

i dont think they have a direct flight anymore out of allentown. now you got to get a limo to take you to the airport!!:thumbsup2

Thanks Jen for the tips. I buy the Bonine for kids, (my kids get carsick/planesick) and it is really mild, so I have used it too, but never for the rides. I told them on our next trip I would take something just so I could enjoy more with them. I felt a little crummy after Soarin if you can believe that. We have been enough times that I can usually entertain myself, but I need to try the big rides one day. lol
(Oh we took the monorail once from MK to Poly to eat and I thought I was going to die. lol You can tell in my Lilo and Stitch pics that I was ill! no fun)

When are you going to be there in Oct? I will be there on 10/2 (getting off my cruise) & 10/3 (evening flight back home).

Jennifer I just read your TR in one sitting. Great job! Loved hearing about your trip. Thanks for taking the time to write this up.

You have a lovely voice. I listened to the songs from the link on your siggie. I wish I could sing like that.

Thanks so much!!! (On the TR and on the singing!) I really appreciate it! :goodvibes

I'm going to the World twice this year, which means two new TR's!! I'm already thinking about them!

MY SUPER EXCITING NEWS!!!!!!!!

Omg, omg, omg!!!!

So SOME of you know already, since you are my facebook friends, but I just had to share that I am now officially a Disney vacation expert for a travel agency!!!!!!!

Omg, omg, omg!!!!

This has been something I've wanted to do for so long, but didn't really know how to go about it, but I was in the right place at the right time and everything just sort of fell into place. I am so happy!

Now, I know the DIS is REALLY strict about stuff, so I can't share any details on here. But I knew that if anyone could really *get* how happy this makes me, it would be the people on the disboards!:cloud9:

Also, we leave for our next trip in just 50 days!!! (My, how the year has flown by!) I'm definitely doing another TR - this trip will be a split stay between AKV and the new BLT! We're also trying out some new dining experiences - for us - (like California Grille and Kouzzina) but will also be sticking to some favorites (Sanaa and Le Cellier).

I'll post on here once I get it up and started later this summer!

(Then in October, I'm doing a girls-only trip for Food and Wine Festival! Oh yeah! Definitely a TR happening for that one! :cool1:)

p.s. I'm also going to be recording a new CD later this summer - all Viennese and American operetta stuff. (Wish me luck that I don't go crazy again from the stress!!! Aaaahhh!)

Thanks to all of you who read and followed my report! It was great to have you along to relive my trip! :goodvibes

Hi! How silly is this--I had read your earlier posts a long time ago, but just now got the chance to read the rest of it! This is the best trip report ever-and I have read hundreds of them! Many many congrats also on your exciting news!!!
