Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

I know, you just have to try and send the germ phobias on vacation when you're on vacation. The washcloth thing.....I don't know, I've heard too many stories of people whose kids got sick at Disney, and then you wonder what they grabbed to clean it up, or any spills in general. I will use their towels to dry off, but there's just something about washing my face..... I'm sorry, everybody, for spreading my neuroses around. :guilty:

And of course I realize that every ride car, every hand rail, etc. is far worse than the hotel room or the linens. Whatchagonnado?

I walked outside for the first time in weeks this morning. It wasn't awful, but not nearly as pleasant as Saturday. And I think we are going to have a record high today. Come on, fall!

So far it sounds like Shelly's trip is rolling along smoothly. I hope they are enjoying their meals and tolerating the weather. At least the weather was good for swimming. No blue lips in the pool is definitely a plus! If I remember correctly, on their November trips they would usually swim as long as they could stand the cold water.

Keep the updates coming!

Oh my gosh, you poor thing with the milk.  If that happened over here, I would be the one to clean it up for sure. My DH cannot handle any gross stuff like that. Here's a gross, funny little story for you! A long time ago when my kids were little, I had gone to play Pokeno with my neighborhood friends and my DH was in charge for the evening. He took the kids to eat somewhere and when they were almost home, DS threw up in DH's Blazer. Thank heavens it was all vinyl seats and floor. He cleaned as much as he could stand. But at 10:00 that night, I was outside giving it the extreme-clean. I left the windows open to air out overnight. Next morning, DH goes out to leave for work and finds that the neighbor's cat got inside and used his car for a littler box. I am assuming I cleaned it up, given what I just said about my DH, but maybe the trauma of it has blocked it from my memory.

OK, I promise that is the last gross thing I will mention on this PTR. My apologies to everyone.

You are right about the washcloths and the sick kids. I remember some years ago reading here on the DIS about a teen who went in to wash their face and grabbed the towel and rubbed it on her face--- only to get a face full of poop.
:eek::eek: It was a nasty image that is burnt into my mind. They were staying at Pop, I mean Poop, er, POP.
It's haunted me since then.:lmao:

Your story about your son getting sick in the car is awful. I'm surprised that it wasn't impounded after the cat got in it.:rotfl2:
Mark actually is very good about cleaning stuff up--- he usually is the one to do it b/c he says he doesn't want me to have to deal with it. :lovestruc But this morning he was out the door early and couldn't do it, so I was left holding the bucket.

:rolleyes1

Shelly's doing good--- haven't heard from her this afternoon, but last I heard she was still in AK. That was a long time ago, and given the way she feels about that park, I don't think she lasted there too much longer.

Okay time for homework help. I'll be back later!

Thanks for dancing with me and throwing me that little jive party!:cool1: I'm having a STUPID morning ---- so you guys have helped immensely.:rotfl2:

Wanna hear what happened???

Okay, I know you do.

Yesterday it was HOT here--- yuck. I went to the store and shopped and then I came home, pulled the car in the garage and closed the door- no one went back out there all day.

This morning Mark opens the door early--- like 5 am--- and says oh no.
I go to look and a milk that was in the fridge door had exploded (??????!!!!) and seeped out all night long onto the floor. Well it's probably 100 degrees in there---- and so it curdled all yesterday and all night.
It was FOUL.

So for the past two hours I've been on my hands and knees scrubbing the fool out of it and it still smells like BUTT.

It made me gag and I almost threw up numerous times.

So I come in and and as I'm washing my hands, the phone goes off.
Text from Shelly saying Call me if you have a minute.

Yeah. I called.:lmao: Thanks for the call Shelly!!!

I'll update you on her in the next post.

I have to hurry up and shower--- I have so much to do today!!

If it makes you feel better....we made a dumb mistake with milk once. This was like 3 cars ago. We had a minivan. Had gone grocery shopping. Next morning came out to the van and it stunk. Come to find out, a gallon of milk had rolled around and went under the seat. We missed it. It stayed in the car in the hot garage all night. It never exploded or opened, but still. That smell will forever haunt me. We didn't keep the van much longer, but I don't think we ever truly got that smell out!! BLECH. :headache:

So glad things are going well for Shelly! It won't be long and you'll be there, too!!! YEAH!

We are having beautiful weather out here the last few days. In the 80's, sunny with nice ocean breezes. Took our friend from NY to the SM Pier, Hollywood, Farmer's Market, etc yesterday. We spent the day with her on Saturday at DLR - had a blast, but it was hard to wake up this morning. Too much fun. :rotfl2:

So, you have to follow me on twitter tomorrow. I am going to be doing a very special "Disney" thing. starting around 2:30 p.m. PST. Can't wait to do this! www.twitter.com/tommypix

Sea

Afternoon, ladies and GentleMAN! :lmao:
What's been happening with ya today?

Thanks Sea! How are you doing out in Cali????

Holy cow that is awesome! I think we've got some great options for her!:rotfl:

Welcome back Mel! How was the trip other than the heat? I didn't realize you were going for two weeks- I was wondering if you'd made it back yet.

We had 30 pages of a bunch of nonsense. :lmao: As always...

Trip was awesome, amazing, magnificient, wonderful, need I continue? :lovestruc We did tons of rides, saw lots of shows, met many characters. We took close to 2000 pictures including Photopass. :goodvibes

I don't want to say too much though, I'm keeping it for the trip report. ;) Which you'll have to wait after your trip to read because you are leaving VERY SOON!!!

I don't think I would have been able to clean that mess without having to visit the bathroom...

I'm finally checking in. Been without power all this time. I'm so glad it's over. We are ok, but do have some minor damage. After all the stress of the hurricane, we then had a tornado in our neighborhood tonight that pelted us with softball sized hail. Our house is ok, but the SUV is looking bad. It's been a rough week.

Just wanted to tell you to have a fabulous trip if I don't make it back over here before you leave. I'm so far behind on all my TRs that I might not be here for your send off. I'm glad to hear Shelly is having a good time too though. Can't wait to hear all about it when you guys gets back!

teri...love that you picked a TR title out of that!! :rotfl:
Jo,...yep, gotta agree with you and Mark..that is preeeeetty nasty!!! YUCK!!! when the kids were smaller I always brought the baby washcloths for them, and then I started bringing the disposable Johnsons washcloths...love those!! You just bath with them once and toss 'em...and the kids love them.Might have to buy about 20 washcloths at the Dollar store just for this trip now...one use and toss....YIKES!!!

2 DAYS!!!!!

If I had a smiley of a person running around with my hair on fire I'd insert it here.
This is the closest thing I could find---
:hyper:

Today I have a mani/pedi, return some items I don't want-- and then the kids have haircuts after school.
Needless to say-- I'll be gone all day.:guilty:

Rinky--I am so glad you are okay and only had minor damage. That is so scary. Take care and we'll talk when we get back. Thanks for counting down with us--- it's been fun!

Mel--- OOh, a TR! I can't wait to read it! Don't get too far ahead without me, and make sure you PM me a link b/c I'm notorious for losing stuff.:rolleyes1

Sea---- :woohoo: What are you up to today? And you need to tell me what time that would be Central time. I'm a blonde.:rotfl: I get it and Mountain time confuzzled.:rotfl2:

Lil'Mermaid-- (I'm sorry , after all this time and I still don't know your name...:guilty:) that milk story sounds horrible. blech. I have had that smell in my nose all day and night. I cannot get rid of it.

Shawna---that's a great idea about the washcloths! I might look into it, if I have time today.

Arrrgh! I leave in two days!!!!:yay::upsidedow:yay::eek:

This will be short- I have to get going--

We talked a bunch last night. She wanted to know what was going on on the Bachelor Pad!:lmao:

They went on a monorail tour and she sent me a pic of the GF lobby!!!

They ate dinner at O'hana............ and I let her tell you what she thought about it.popcorn::

She sent a pic of the loverly walkway wall by the pool there at the GF. It is UGLY.

Today they will be in DHS!!

I'll update more this afternoon.

:wizard: YAY 2 DAYS JO!!!! :wizard:

Pixie dust that you'll get all your errands and running around done!! It's time for vacaaaaayyyy!!!

glad they are having a good time...HS is her favorite park!!!! You are busy today!!!! I know you will get it all done!! isn't it crazy how every trip you think (or I do), okay...this time I will have this amount of stuff done by such and such day...then is doesn't quite happen like that? Even with all the lists and planning...and you know why? LIFE gets in the way!!:rotfl: No one else cares we have a Disney trip looming before us!!!! Hoping for you that today everything gets :wizard: magically done and tomorrow can be your day for last minutes!! I know you are soooo ready for this trip.
:cheer2:2:cheer2:
48 hours!!

What time do you fly out? I guess I should say what time do you leave for the airport...we are not really close, so that adds quite a lot of travel time for us on departure day.

Happy 2 days Jo!

Your milk and hotel stories made me gag a little. Nothing smells worse than curdled milk. Ewwww! I'm a paranoid germaphobe too and admit I too have a cleaning routine before I let my kids enter a hotel room. :rolleyes1

Shelly is at DHS today so I'm sure they are having a rocknrollercoaster great time at their favorite park!!!! :rockband:

We lost power Sat night and just finally got it back a little after 11pm last night. I was so excited to do laundry and start the dishwasher today! Thankfully having the power go out was our only trouble. Lots of people have flooded basements and trees sticking out of their houses. It could have been much worse for us.

I took these pics from my driveway looking down our road.

Our backyard was covered with little limbs and leaves. At least the trees are still standing and didn't end up on our house!

Kim - so glad you're okay, too and that your biggest problem was loss of power. Although, it looks like quite a bit of work to clean up all that debris!

2 days Jo!! Cannot believe it!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Happy 2 Days Jo!!! :cool1::cool1:

Are you all packed yet? :cool1:

Central time is 2 hours ahead of Pacific, so that would be 4:30 p.m. your time, Jo. Follow me on www.twitter.com/tommypix

Kim - Wow, that tree on the wires looks scary. Glad to hear you had minor problems and that everybody is safe.

Just had a minute and wanted to check back and see whats going on with Jo & co. today!!! She must be wide-open getting it all done...probably on her way to get the kids and do their haircuts here shortly...I guess she's had her mani/pedi by now too!!! How fun!!! I love the anticipation of a great vacation!!

I am back to see you off on your trip!!! It was terrible being without power for almost 58 hours :headache:

I feel your pain! We were without power for 10 days after Gustav in 2008. And we were some of the lucky ones! Plenty of areas were out for several weeks. And it was in late August/early September and brutally hot. Keeping my fingers crossed for this year! So glad Irene wasn't as strong as expected!
