Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

Hi Jo! :wave2:

Woo-hoo for 4 days!!

Thanks for keeping us updated on Shelly! We'd be going crazy if we didn't know anything - like if her flights went as scheduled, check-in, and weather. So do we know if she liked VN or not? I didn't think you said, but I've seen others saying they're glad she liked it. :confused3

It sounds like you might be like me in one area (well, not just one but the one I'm about to say ) I HAVE to clean my house really well right before I go on a trip. That's because I HAVE to come home to a clean house. Nothing's worse than coming home and looking around thinking the house looks dirty. It's hard enough doing all the trip laundry. And it's just a good feeling. :goodvibes

Shawna - I think I'll call you next time I'm going on a trip. You have a superb packing list!!

Jo - there is one thing I never travel without - flip flops or some type of shower shoe. I will not get in any hotel shower without them, much less bathe! I know, I know, why not just stay in the Days Inn if I won't touch anything! I really do try to chill on the germ thing when I'm on vacation, but if it's something easy like shower shoes, then I'm there!

Lala - stay safe up there! Can you take any pics? Not meaning go outside of course! But from the safety of your home? OT: my BF's daughter's name is Lauren, and she has been called Lala as a pet name since her baby sister was born and couldn't pronounce Lauren. So I always wonder if you're a Lauren, too!

Hey girl! :goodvibes

You having a good weekend?

I am so happy to be reporting on Shelly's vacation. It's helping pass the time. If I don't have my phone near me, as soon as it starts buzzing with an update from her, the kids start running saying "It's Shelly mom!" They can't wait to meet up with the the boys. Drew and her DS12 have been texting back and forth, so that's fun for them.

Here's something funny--- She keeps updating me on all the souvienirs she keeps getting. (but I'm not telling...:rolleyes1) Mark said to tell her that she's not allowed to shop anymore b/c she's being a bad influence on me b/c I keep saying--- "Ooh, Guess what Shelly got?". So I texted that to her--- and she was shopping when she got it!:rotfl:

As far as VN----- you are very observant! ;) I never said she loved it........:upsidedow I'll let her tell you guys her thoughts. I'm just the communicater of where she ate.:rolleyes1

She will do a dining report when she gets back though...

Now, as far as your germaphobe self....
I don't do the shower shoes--- I know you are shocked.:lmao: But I won't walk on a carpet barefoot in the hotel room.:sick::eek: I take my ugly crocs and put them next to the bed and by the shower--- put them on as soon as I get out of bed or whatever. It skeeves me out seriously. Hotel rooms in general------ When you used to could pack the whole house up- I'd take my own down comforter and pillows too.
Oh and no one is allowed to touch a thing until some serious clorox wipes have been applied to every surface. And the remote???:eek: It immediately goes into a ziplock bag.

I know. Weird. But it's just nasty.

And yes----- a clean house is a must before we leave. I have seen some pics of houses that are disgusting inside.;) I just have this thing of-- What if I die on vacation and they have to come in this house and it is dirty???:rotfl2:
I'd die of embarrassment.

:upsidedow

Glad Shelly is having a great time!
Jo- Yes, the waves are very high. We have been watching them from our upstairs windows. It's crazy!
And...I'm glad you fixed your camera! That is very important to bring to WDW!

Yes! I want pictures--- but only if it's safe to take them. i don't want you holding onto a tree in the middle of the wind trying to get a pic for us.
4 days Jo! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

Yay!!!!!! 4 is so close! I'm scared.:lmao:
I'm back! :goodvibes I see that I missed Shelly leaving, but glad to hear she gets to walk on to lots of rides. It was hot as hell the two weeks I was there, so I don't doubt for one second that it's still hot now.

Woah, you guys wrote 30 pages while I was on vacation! I don't know that I'll ever be able to catch up with all that reading, but I'll skim through it.

In case I don't have time to come back before you leave, have a great time in Disney, Jo! :wizard:

Welcome back Mel! How was the trip other than the heat? I didn't realize you were going for two weeks- I was wondering if you'd made it back yet.

We had 30 pages of a bunch of nonsense. :lmao: As always...

Jo Happy 4 days. And I would not chance it ..go buy a new camera before the trip, can you imagine what a new one in Disney will cost.

Any how just checking in real quick, no power on my laptop battery and my wifi which if I am lucky I have maybe 2 hours time so that is why this is short and quick, we are fine I just want my power back right now I am drinking ice coffee which I like but I sure could go for a hot cup like usual in the afternoon

See you again when my power is back..................Jo have a great trip if I do not see you before you leave

4 days!!!!
:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I hope those without power are hanging in there and it comes back on soon! Just saw some pictures on the news and WOW!!! Nasty stuff that hurricane Irene left in her wake!

How's that list coming Jo???

Hey girl! :goodvibes

You having a good weekend?

Yes I am, thank you! We went to our camp Friday and came back this morning. Saturday morning I was shocked to walk outside and not instantly melt. :scared: (our little sweaty friend). Temps were still in the 90's, but the humidity was way down! :cool1: Are y'all getting that break, too? In the evening we went for a boat rideand there was actually a breeze! Maybe Orlando is getting the same weather we are. Any little thing like lower humidity is a blessing!

Luckily you don't have too much more time to pass! That's so neat that your kids and Shelly's kids have this kind of long-distance friendship! Kind of like cousins that live far away and you only see at Christmas.....only substitute Disney. ;)

So I texted that to her--- and she was shopping when she got it!

Whoa, Nelly! Somebody needs to rein our girl in! She just got there on Friday. At this rate they're going to need another suitcase just for her souveniers. I guess we have to wait for her to tell us what she's bought........:rolleyes1

As far as VN----- you are very observant! ;) I never said she loved it........:upsidedow I'll let her tell you guys her thoughts. I'm just the communicater of where she ate.

Well, I watch a lot of Forensic Files so I pay attention to details. Can't wait to hear how she (and you) like it!

I guess it is pretty ridiculous to have to wear shoes in the shower. :sad2: I mean, I'm washing off whatever gets on my feet anyway. Just in case you didn't think I was nutty enough, there are 2 other things I usually bring to hotels. My own pillow case (easier than the whole pillow) and several of my own washcloths. I don't do this for everyone in my family - they couldn't care less. So I just throw those few things in my little bag. I like washing my face with my own washcloths. No further explanations needed. :scared1: Remotes......why, oh, why did I ever watch those Dateline specials. :sad2:

And yes----- a clean house is a must before we leave. I have seen some pics of houses that are disgusting inside.;) I just have this thing of-- What if I die on vacation and they have to come in this house and it is dirty???:rotfl2:
I'd die of embarrassment.

:rotfl2: I never thought about it from that angle. I just don't like to clean when I get home. ;) The vacation is definitely over if I have to scrub toilets the next day.

Hi Everyone!
Well, we lost power this afternoon for a while. And, the Internet is still not working, so I am writing this from my phone!
I went out and took some pics, but since I don't have Internet, I can't get them on photo bucket, hopefully we will get Internet back overnight, and then i will post the pics! Thankfully, we did not get much damage. I took a drive around town, and there were a lot of limbs down, but no major damage.
However, I drove down own to the beach at the end of my street (we are right neat the harbor) and I counted nine large sailboats on the beach. There were a ton of people looking down there at the boats..I got some cool shots of those and the waves. So I will get those up ASAP!
Glad the storm is over!

And T*Bird...that is so funny, my sister who is ten years younger than me called me Lala instead of Lauren when she was little! She still calls me Lala today!:goodvibes

Lala, so glad the damage near you wasn't too bad. Crazy how the water can move boats like they were tinker toys. I hope the sailboats weren't destroyed, but just displaced! I hope you get your internet back up soon. Looking forward to your pics!

That is too funny that you got your nickname the same way as my friend's daughter! Her sister is just a couple of years younger (they're both in their 20's now) and she and her mom (my BF) still call her Lala. :)

So, the internet just went back up! Here are some pics! Sorry, they are not the best quality, my family took a drive and I took them from the back seat window!

I totally agree..My house has to be cleaned before i leave too!! Can't stand to do it otherwise--I like being gone and knowing everything is taken care of and I can rest the day we get home. Other than mounds of :laundy:...at least it's NOT scrubbing floors or toilets!! LOLShawna - I think I'll call you next time I'm going on a trip. You have a superb packing list!!

Oooooh thanks!! I am sure there's more--that was emergency-gotta-haves for Jo to ponder over!! LOL!!!Jo - there is one thing I never travel without - flip flops or some type of shower shoe. :yay::yay::yay:

3 more days Jo!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Thanks for dancing with me and throwing me that little jive party!:cool1: I'm having a STUPID morning ---- so you guys have helped immensely.:rotfl2:

Wanna hear what happened???

Okay, I know you do.

Yesterday it was HOT here--- yuck. I went to the store and shopped and then I came home, pulled the car in the garage and closed the door- no one went back out there all day.

This morning Mark opens the door early--- like 5 am--- and says oh no.
I go to look and a milk that was in the fridge door had exploded (??????!!!!) and seeped out all night long onto the floor. Well it's probably 100 degrees in there---- and so it curdled all yesterday and all night.
It was FOUL.

So for the past two hours I've been on my hands and knees scrubbing the fool out of it and it still smells like BUTT.

It made me gag and I almost threw up numerous times.

So I come in and and as I'm washing my hands, the phone goes off.
Text from Shelly saying Call me if you have a minute.

Yeah. I called.:lmao: Thanks for the call Shelly!!!

I'll update you on her in the next post.

I have to hurry up and shower--- I have so much to do today!!

So let's see--

Yesterday they hung at the resort and went swimming. She said it wasn't crowded and the water was perfect.

Then they went to DHS and went to dinner at Sci Fi- said it was great. They had planned on staying all night to go to Fantasmic but it was too hot so they left and had resort time again.

Her DH is doing good-- maybe b/c they rested a lot yesterday.

This Morning she called me from AK! She and her DS12 went over for the morning.
She is having a good time and says the crowds yesterday at DHS were a little bad, but so far today it hasn't been bad at all. They walked right onto EE. In fact her son rode it 3x in a row!

She'll text me later and I'll be back this afternoon to update you again.

Sheila- I hope you get power back very soon and are able to be on here before I leave! If not, thanks for helping to count down our vacations! It wouldn't have been the same without you here!:goodvibes

Lauren-- wow! Those pics are really something else! That looked so scary! I'm glad you guys made it thru the storms and are safe. I hope you get internet soon--- that's always awful!

Teri---:rotfl2: I refuse to use the washcloths in the hotel. I just use my hands. I think if I really thought about all the germs around me everyday I'd live in a bubble. And Drew is worse than me. He gets grossed out at everything.
Those Dateline specials really didn't help us did they??:rotfl:
Glad you are getting a little break from the humidity. It has cooled off a little at night--- well except for this morning. It was nasty out early.

Okay I'm going out. I'll be back later on!!

Jo...that is just awful, nasty, disgusting, gag-worthy & appalling what that mild did to you!!!! GROSS!!! I def would have gagged, and truth be told, probably threw up!!
As far as the Dateline, 20/20, 60 Minutes and all those other shows::sad2::sick: no way Jose!! I would never go anywhere if I watched that stuff. I know there are germs and filth EVERYWHERE and if I focused on that I would go crazy. I know enough to keep me freaked out as it is...if I knew anymore my husband would go crazy!!
Glad Shelly is having such a good time and her DH's hernia is taking a vacation!:rotfl:
Let us know what all you do/have left to do today!! We are here to keep you on track!!

Okay I'm going out. I'll be back later on!!

I know, you just have to try and send the germ phobias on vacation when you're on vacation. The washcloth thing.....I don't know, I've heard too many stories of people whose kids got sick at Disney, and then you wonder what they grabbed to clean it up, or any spills in general. I will use their towels to dry off, but there's just something about washing my face..... I'm sorry, everybody, for spreading my neuroses around. :guilty:

And of course I realize that every ride car, every hand rail, etc. is far worse than the hotel room or the linens. Whatchagonnado?

I walked outside for the first time in weeks this morning. It wasn't awful, but not nearly as pleasant as Saturday. And I think we are going to have a record high today. Come on, fall!

So far it sounds like Shelly's trip is rolling along smoothly. I hope they are enjoying their meals and tolerating the weather. At least the weather was good for swimming. No blue lips in the pool is definitely a plus! If I remember correctly, on their November trips they would usually swim as long as they could stand the cold water.

Keep the updates coming!

Oh my gosh, you poor thing with the milk.  If that happened over here, I would be the one to clean it up for sure. My DH cannot handle any gross stuff like that. Here's a gross, funny little story for you! A long time ago when my kids were little, I had gone to play Pokeno with my neighborhood friends and my DH was in charge for the evening. He took the kids to eat somewhere and when they were almost home, DS threw up in DH's Blazer. Thank heavens it was all vinyl seats and floor. He cleaned as much as he could stand. But at 10:00 that night, I was outside giving it the extreme-clean. I left the windows open to air out overnight. Next morning, DH goes out to leave for work and finds that the neighbor's cat got inside and used his car for a littler box. I am assuming I cleaned it up, given what I just said about my DH, but maybe the trauma of it has blocked it from my memory.

OK, I promise that is the last gross thing I will mention on this PTR. My apologies to everyone.

Afternoon, ladies and GentleMAN! :lmao:
What's been happening with ya today?

I just got home from shopping. Bought Drew two pairs of shorts and Mark some socks. Of course in the process I bought a new swimsuit and two cover ups.

:rotfl2:

I couldn't help it. They were 65% off. So even though I spent $100, it would have been lots more if I had've paid full price.

AND- I can always use them next year! That's the good thing about going on vacation so late in the summer. You get lots of sale items and you can use them again next year. Well, at least I keep telling myself that as I'm whipping out the cc.:lmao:

Jo...that is just awful, nasty, disgusting, gag-worthy & appalling what that mild did to you!!!! GROSS!!! I def would have gagged, and truth be told, probably threw up!!

Everything? I have everything left to do today???? STILL!!:scared1: I'm not cooking this whole week, so that's a plus. haaaaaaay, it's time for vacacaaaaaaaay.

I almost threw up this morning. I came close so many times. I got every Autumn Wreath Yankee Candle I had in the house (5 of them!) and started burning them downstairs. As soon as I'd feel ill, I'd run inside and sniff them.:lmao:

It was so bad that I couldn't eat anything at all and drank a diet dr pepper for breakfast. And I usually have yogurt. Somehow, I'm not digging the thought of yogurt anymore. How unfortunate.

Okay so the grossest story I've heard about a hotel bathroom??? Ya really wanna know? My DH witnessed it- so I really believe it happened.

He saw the maid swish the toilet out with a brush, take the same brush to the bathtub, the floor. Then she took a rag and wiped down the toilet rim, then took the same rag to the sink, the counters and finally finished up by wiping the same rag on the coffee mug rim sitting next to the sink.

:faint:
He called me gagging. Needless to say we don't use anything in the room that is a cup or mug or coffee maker or anything.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Happy 3 Days Jo!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Thanks Sea! How are you doing out in Cali????
Hmmmm........I see another cute TR title there! :thumbsup2

HOT SCHMOTT!!! HURRICANE HERNIA VACATIONS AT EPCOT!
