Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

Your MK plans sounds wonderful!!!! There are guns and animatronics on TSI??? I didn't know that!!!

I'm heading down there today and I'm actually looking forward to a reprieve from the heat LOL!! It's been in the 100s here and only upper 80s in FL LOL!!!!! SO suffice to say I think I'm prepared LOL!!!

Loved your pictures!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Have a great week!

Good Morning everyone! I hope all is well in your corner of the World.:goodvibes We had a long relaxing three day weekend and got everything set on our deck. We planted so much that my DH is exhausted going into work today. :rotfl: We went to a garden center and the kids got to run amuck and have a really good time playing in a pond they have. I'm surprised no one got wet. Hope you all had a great weekend as well!

^^ I have heard that the Snow White ride is going to be changed to a princess meet and greet area.

I'm a little sad about losing Snow White. I hope it isn't gone before we get there so that I can ride it one more time.

They are building a new Snow White/7 Dwarf coaster to replace the old Snow White ride. As sad as I am to lose a classic, I'm very excited about this new coaster. :cool1:

::yes:: That's right-- the current Snow White ride is turning into a meet and greet area, and there will be a new coaster-- which will be cool but sad at the same time. Guess that means we all head to DL to ride the old one! :)

Mindy-- I don't think that they are closing Snow White for some time-- you'll be good on your trip to ride it one last time!

I guess I should have said my sense of smell is not too good , and on occasion in the heat of summer at Disney I probally have not smelled to good too but how would I know since my nose can not tell :rotfl2:

Jo - what is this about a lightening strike? what did I miss?

DH and I worked on the flower bed this morning ,wll closer to noon by time he got his old bones moving. He weeded while me and the dog watched, with me pointing out what not to pull out :rotfl:

He added 3 new bags of soil then topped it off with red mulch. He replaced the border fencing some of which had fallen from the weight of all that snow this winter.

I have some of the plants for the outside planters but need to pick up a few more so for now they are still sitting on the porch waiting their turn to be planted. Maybe we will get out to the garden store tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a super fun weekend, nothing planned here but finishing up the yard and relaxing

Hi Sheila! Did you get your planting all finished? We went to the garden center so many times over the course of three days that on the last trip, the people there said "Back so soon?":lmao:

You asked about lightning-- our house got hit about two months ago during an awful storm and it took out just about everything electrical- fridge, sprinklers, tv, garage door opener, telephones, modem, satellite.... it blew a light completely off the front of the house. Anyway--- we've been having to get all of that replaced and finally have it back to normal.

So-- Have you made any more changes over the weekend to your WDW plans??:rotfl2:

I hope they were wearing red and white and not purple and gold!

About the flooding......no, we didn't have any problems here. But the Mississippi is certainly higher than I've seen it in a long time, if ever. The worst flooding is south of here, in land that floods when the spillway is opened.

:rotfl:They were actually FSU fans. Bitter, maybe? ;) It was during the Tebow romp. ::yes::
Glad you didn't get any flooding near you guys.

I can't believe I am so late to the party!!!! I'm sure you ladies missed me. Apparently I miss all the fun when I take a DIS break to wallow in my missing Disney self pity party. Won't happen again. Promise. :scared:

Heading back to page 1 to catch up. :coffee:

Hi Kim!!! We're so glad you could make it! I did wonder where you were the other morning when I was eating That-Which-Shall-Not-Be-Named..... warm, of course.;):hippie:

Shelly-- Great MK post!! Your pics are gorgeous too! Mine never turn out so good.:confused3 Told you I'm not a great photographer.;) I just stole your castle pic..... needed a new daily picture.:lmao: It's super good.

I am going to brave TSI----- I know I will regret it halfway to the island on that dang raft all smushed in between people. But I never saw most of that place and the kids want to go.

Love the pic of you guys together-- so cute and yeah-- what's up with the hugs that you get when you're there and not any other time???

AS far as Dole Whips--- there's no way you could ever imagine how wonderful it is to be able to go down at midnight and get one while you are at the Poly. Take it back to your balcony and it is :cloud9: !!!!!!! (If it won't melt before you get there, that is.):rolleyes1

Great post!

I'm so glad that you posted what rides you want to ride. My trip is a surprise for DD11, so I can't talk to her about what rides she HAS to ride. It's been 5 years since she's been to the world and she doesn't remember anything! It's going to be hard for me to make sure I get my ride strategy down. I wont have DH with me to run for fast passes:eek:

Mmmmmmm... A dole whip float looks amazing right now! Our weather pattern has finally changed & we're in a hot spell. It's a bit of a shock to the system after weeks of cold, rainy weather.

I wonder how long it would take a dole whip to melt in August? :confused3

That looks so good right now! It's crazy hot here. Florida hot.

Can't wait for a dole whip :)

I know, I sure could go for a Dole Whip right now!! It is 90 degrees already and it's not even noon. :faint:
Love the pic of you and your DS's Shelly. I think you will be overdosed on Dole Whips since you will be able to get them while your at the Poly too.

I am sure you will squeeze in an extra trip to MK seeing how you will be so close, maybe you can get there really early and be selected as the Family of the Day:goodvibes

Thanks Sheila! :goodvibes

We never seem to make it to the parks early enough to be Family of the Day! :upsidedow I think we are in vacation mode and can't get moving very fast in the mornings. :rotfl:

We visited Tom Sawyer Island in the middle of a hot August day last time and I actually think it's a great way to escape the heat. Though the raft ride may be hot, there is lots of shade on the island, and some of the caves are even a bit cool. Plus, it's a great place to get away from the big crowds and just relax a little. :)

It probably is very cool over there on TSI! There is a ton of shade. It's just that raft ride over squeezed in with all the sweaty people that would be rough!! :scared1:

It's funny that you said you somehow haven't seen all of TSI, because I thought we saw it all too until seeing your pictures! :lmao: I don't recall that area at all! :confused3 And you mentioned animatronics, and I don't recall any of that either??? Very interesting!

I guess TSI is way bigger than we realize. We must have missed a lot of it. :confused3 And we were over there for quite awhile.

Thanks Jen! :goodvibes

Have a wonderful trip. I hope the weather is awesome! :wizard:

Your DD is going to be so surprised!! :yay: I know it's hard keeping it a secret (we did it once), but it will all be worth it in the end!! :cool1:

Shelly-- Great MK post!! Your pics are gorgeous too! Mine never turn out so good.:confused3 Told you I'm not a great photographer.;) I just stole your castle pic..... needed a new daily picture.:lmao: It's super good.

Thanks. :goodvibes You can steal all the pics you want!!

I can't wait to hear what your kids think of TSI!

Dole Whips at the Poly are going to be fabulous!! Can't wait! :cloud9:

How fast does a Dole Whip melt in August?

That's like asking how many licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll in the center of a Tootsie Pop!

It can never be determined, because we eat them as fast as they melt!

BTW - I had one last summer and and you do have to eat at least some of it pretty fast and get down below the top of the cup. Then you're okay (well you have brain freeze, but you can catch the melting!).

It was hot and humid here yesterday - could have gone for about 3 Dole Whips!!!

Good Morning!

I'm having computer issues-- I'm hoping things will get better--(!) so while I have a connection I'm gonna go ahead and post my MK update. Hope all is well with you guys! Summer is here and it is HOT! So glad-- I'm tired of the cold!:goodvibes Have a great day everyone!

Magic Kingdom:

To our family, the MK is the quintessential Disney World experience- we’ve had some wonderful memories there.
Floridagame1049.jpg

Our children have to go into the MK first and even though Epcot is my favorite park, there is something magical about Main St and the feeling you get when you see the castle.

Floridagame888.jpg

Everyone gets to be a kid in the MK- you leave behind the worries of real life and surround yourself in fantasy. I mean, who in their everyday life would run to hug a mouse and then cry over it?
For me and for DH, it’s left over feelings from childhood; the “Wow! This is the best, most funnest place ever!!” that still lingers in our souls. I hope I never lose that feeling.

Every trip, when we first step onto Main Street, we have one goal in mind—RIDES! The characters can wait. We usually start off in Fantasyland and do all of those before moving on to either Tomorrowland and Space Mtn or Frontierland and BTMRR followed by Splash if it’s warm enough. After that it’s usually lunch time- then we finish up by doing fillers before park hopping.

Gone are our days of staying in one park from opening to close. Now, we hop. We love the “go-go-go” pace. Well, I should say that the kids and I love it. Mark would prefer to lie at the pool after a hard run. Which is exactly the way we plan on doing this trip. I will get up at the butt crack of dawn to take the kids to rope drop while he languishes in the splendor of GF. It’s vacation after all and everyone should get to do what they want. It just works for us. ::yes::

We have had some pretty wonderful times at the MK in trips past-
~When Mickey picked Belle to escort him to his tent first thing one morning in Toontown. It was just perfectly special and I treasure the memory of seeing them walk hand in hand.
bellemm.jpg

~Drew and Belle were picked to be in Belle’s storytime numerous times thru the years. The first time was so special because my Belle loved the character Belle and Drew was picked for the play first. When it happened he was upset, worried that his sister wouldn’t get chosen and then magically--- she was. It was just a glimpse into the soul of him, and how he always puts others before himself. It made this Mother’s heart smile.

~The kids being guest conductors on the train and hearing them say “All Aboard!”

~Minnie Mouse doing the Gator Chomp to my DH when he had his UF Alumni shirt on at LTT and Donald Duck doing the Gator Chomp to all of us at the end of Spectromagic when we all had on Gator shirts.

~Cruella DeVil making MC-(who was dressed as Alice)- say “Yes, Your Majesty” and curtsey to the Queen of Hearts during MNSSHP’s Boo To You parade.

~MNSSHP. Best time we’ve ever had in the MK, period.

There have been so many memories made in this park, but what about this trip???
Well, first off, Belle will be riding some things for the first time so we are super excited about it.

Our MK plan:
We will be doing MK about three times, including one rope drop and one EMH.
Our main attractions to get to:

Space Mtn (Belle’s first time!!)
DSC07485.jpg

Carousel of Progress-- (the kids love it!!:rotfl2:)
Astro Orbitor- (I know it isn't exactly a pic of it, but it's back there somewhere.)
DSC07452.jpg

Stitch (kids have never been; I keep trying to talk them out of it but it’s on their must do list)
Buzz
Monsters Laugh Floor (kids have never been)
People Mover (hey, we’re old school, it will always be the People Mover to us ;) )
DSC07457.jpg

BTMRR
Splash
Pooh
Snow White (One last time, for old times’ sake:guilty:)
Philharmagic
Dumbo
Carousel
Peter Pan

Floridagame810.jpg

Jungle cruise-
Floridagame833.jpg

Treehouse
Tom Sawyer’s Island
Country bear Jamboree (Kids have only seen the Christmas one)
Liberty Belle—(First time ever for any of us!)
Floridagame804.jpg

Also we will probably skip the afternoon parade but definitely will see the nighttime one, even though I will miss Spectromagic. We also will see Wishes!—Hopefully more than once, from a few different vantage points! ;)

As far as characters, Belle wants to see Rapunzel, Mickey and Minnie. Other than that, I’m not sure how many we will stand in line to see. The kids are getting older and so our touring will change a lot for this year. It’s sad, but at the same time, very exciting. No more child swaps or chicken exits!
And since we are going when it is super hot, I’m planning on us trying to be a little more relaxed this trip, as much as we can be.

So there it is.
Our MK past and future! Hopefully this trip with this being Belle’s First time riding some things it will work out and the heat won’t cause us to have meltdowns of catastrophic proportions. If I come back and complain, someone slap me.

Hi Sheila! Did you get your planting all finished? We went to the garden center so many times over the course of three days that on the last trip, the people there said "Back so soon?":lmao:

Anyway--- we've been having to get all of that replaced and finally have it back to normal.

So-- Have you made any more changes over the weekend to your WDW plans??:rotfl2:

Jo - OMG You really did get hit by lightening :scared1: Our Satellite was hit one year and the transponders got blown out but that was it. I guess you were lucky it did not start a fire.

Actually we did change one plan eat at Cape May twice this trip(maybe) I got all excited when I was checking resort availablity something I do every so often and saw my TPV at CR was available for our dates, but did not call since it makes little sense to spend an extra $600. DH has to have corredtive eye surgery and we don't know yet what that is going to cost, he found out he has cataracts and they will be doing an intra occular lens implant in his eyes.

We went back to the Garden Store yesterday to buy more mulch but they had sold out over the weekend , I was going to buy another pepper plant but had to settle for a different type since the one I wanted was all sold out, everyone must have been at the garden shop during the weekend while we just took it easy

Jo I love the picture of your DD walking hand in hand with Mickey what a wonderful memory :goodvibes

Shelly, I absolutely love the photo of you and your boys in MK. You know it's a pretty special place when you can get a public hug out of your 12 year old. ;)

Jo, I loved your description of MK. I feel the same way. There is just something so magical about the way it makes me feel. We start out each trip there too!

Great MK update, Jo! I love hearing about all your favorite memories, and the pictures of the kids in those memories are treasures! The one of Belle with Mickey is priceless. princess:

You are wise to take advice from Shelly on Welaxed Disney World. She always seems to have the most fun, stress-free trips that are actually vacations and not endurance tests. ;) We have always been rope-drop till we drop people. I'm definitely going to slow it down on my next (not yet scheduled) trip.

Shelly, I can't believe y'all are having such hot weather. Is that unusual for this early in the season? It is currently 98 here right now. :faint: I went for a walk this morning around 10:00, and it was already blazing hot. I won't be going that late any more! I guess you are getting some practice in for the trip. ;) Which reminds me of something I wanted to ask you - do you bring a backpack or some type of bag in the park?

I love your MK pics. :thumbsup2 That one of BRMRR looks like a postcard, it is so pretty! And I really love the one of the boys hugging you. Memories like those you need in pictures and not just in your head!

Oh wow, Sheila, I hope your DH does well with his surgery. When is it going to take place?

As far as TPV at CR---- there's always next trip!!!:wizard:

Excellent stories and wonderful memories Shelly & Jo! Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2

Thanks Sea!

Jo, I loved your description of MK. I feel the same way. There is just something so magical about the way it makes me feel. We start out each trip there too!

Aw, thanks! It's hard to describe how I really feel about WDW--- but I think we all feel the same way!:goodvibes

I need to take Shelly's direction, right? She always has the most relaxed vacations that are awesome! I'm afraid that my kiddos will not let me relax this trip! I guess that means we will have to plan another!

I tell you the truth, that pic of Belle walking with Mickey is burned into my heart and mind's eye. It was one of the most special days ever.:goodvibes

Jo~I don't think we could do a relaxed Disney vacation either. there is so much that we want to see and I'm always afraid that we won't get it all in. GO GO GO!

Hello everyone! :goodvibes Wow it's kind of quiet in here today.

Guess what I did today??? I went to work and sent DH on DS9's field trip to the zoo!! :rotfl: I figured it was about time he got in on some of the fun! ::yes:: Let's just say after a day with a bunch of 3rd graders at the zoo I think he has a new appreciation for my job and all my volunteering! :upsidedow:laughing:

It is still really really hot here. :faint: And of course our AC was not working last night. :sad2: But we got it serviced today.

HAPPY 3 MONTHS Jodi!! :cool1:
:jumping1::jumping1:

We're getting there!!

How fast does a Dole Whip melt in August?

Probably pretty darn fast. It's okay though, they still taste wonderful even when they are all melty! :cloud9:

DH has to have corredtive eye surgery and we don't know yet what that is going to cost, he found out he has cataracts and they will be doing an intra occular lens implant in his eyes.

I hope it all goes well for him. :goodvibes

Thanks! :goodvibes Exactly, my 12 year old is not big on hugs in front of people anymore. :confused3:rotfl:

Yes, this is extremely hot here for this early in the year. But I'm trying not to complain since we had such a rotten wet and cold spring!

It has actually been hotter here than it has been in Orlando the past few days. That very rarely happens!

I take a small bag/purse type thing to the parks with me. The boys each have their own little Disney fanny pack. And the last few trips when it's been chilly in the mornings and chilly in the evening DH has carried a backpack for our jackets. I don't think we will be needing that this time!

You know me, I'm a picture person. ::yes:: If I like it I've got to have a picture of it!!

Oh wow, Sheila, I hope your DH does well with his surgery. When is it going to take place?

As far as TPV at CR---- there's always next trip!!!:wizard:

DH goes next week to be fitted for the lens, after that they will schedule him for the surgery, better him than me I get the heebeejeebees just thinking about someone touching my eyes :rotfl:

I love it! I did all the class trips but DH was able to partake of a couple Boy Scout events, that gave him a new appriciation for volunteering also :rotfl:

Glad you got the A/C fixed , it has been hot and humid here and been running our A/C too.

Today it was the threat of tornados luckily they passed to the north , my one daughter in laws family had to take cover up in Mass but they are ok so far, another storm is coming
