Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

That's a great review, Jo! :thumbsup2 Honestly, I am so impressed with how you and Shelly both remember the places you've been an what you've ordered. ::yes:: Especially since y'all have been so many times!

I didn't realize you couldn't eat fried foods! Fried foods are one of the main food groups in my house! Seriously, maybe that's part of why I am not in love with Disney food. 9 times out of 10 when we go out to eat, it's seafood, and it's usually fried. ;) The only other meat I will ever order out is if we are at a nice steak restaurant. I agree about those huge turkey legs......barbaric!

I do love good salads, though! Especially a good ceasar salad. Yum! Some day I want to try french fries and cheese on a salad - I hear it's very good! ;)

Good Review Jo -

We have never eaten at LTT, and I did have a lunch ADR planned but then decided to go with Tony's since we have never ate there either. I have to say the Thanksgiving style meal really appeals to me and I would love to try it sometime.

I realize now as I am reading your reviews we have never at at The Plaza, Columbia Harbor House either.

I know we have done a few of the counter serve places but which ones I am not sure. I do recall having that awful Disney pizza and standing in seemingly endless lines but the where and whats I don't recall, and of course we have done Crystal Palace and CRT except when we did CRT it was Stephens Banquet Hall.

I have yet to try a dole whip and just during our last trip tried popcorn for the first time although I tried it over at DHS.

Now the turkey leg is a big favorite of DH's, I like it well enough but it is just too much meat for me, but that is not a problem DH can finish mine too.

We even searched out and had Turkey legs at DL which led to DH dropping and breaking his phone since it rang and he went to answer it with his greasy turkey fingers :lmao: Another one of those moments where I uttered "idiot" under my breath. :rotfl:

Man, I'm jonesing for some Disney food now!!! Is it too early to start making ADRs for October 2012???

Great lists and info Sea!

Shelly - sorry about your DS! Just get him all better by the end of summer!

Jo - CUTE bag!!!

I have to stay away from this PTR. It's making me want to go shopping! And eat!

I know, I am suddenly craving a Dole Whip Float!! ::yes::

Yes, hopefully DS will be feeling better shortly and stay healthy the rest of the summer. :wizard:

Wow, I missed a lot of food talk! :faint: My poor little list would look sad next to y'all's. I believe the only TS places we have tried are San Angel Inn, Le Cellier, Teppan Edo, and Crystal Palace. (I know, it's a sorry list!) I don't remember all the CS places we've been, but the ones we liked were WPE, Tangierine Cafe, Yorkshire County Fish Shop, and Liberty Inn. It seems the only places I can remember are in Epcot. :confused3 I have to agree with Jo about the food at Disney. I've just never found anything incredibly memorable, at least of the few places we've been. We really never have dining experiences on any vacation that are as good as we have at home. By "home" I mean my city and area, not my actual home! Let me brag about the one and only thing that Louisiana tops the list in - food!! ;) So we never look at Disney or any other vacation spot as dining adventures. Having said that, there are places that I would like to try next time. Definitely Kona Cafe, because it seems to get rave reviews for breakfast. Boma would be another, because I tend to like ethnic food. And possibly Ohana, because it seems like a fun place.

Jo, I love your new D&B bag! What a nice hubby!

Shelly, sorry that your DS has bronchitis. That does sound like an odd thing to have in the summer. Can he do what he wants as long as he feels OK, or is he stuck inside?

Hope you don't need those ponchos you bought......or maybe a little rain would be a welcome every now and then!

It looks like you've been to some great Disney restaurants too! :) I've always wanted to try Teppan Edo, but I'm too chicken.

DS is allowed to have normal activity, just not much running. So he's using that as an excuse to play video games all day.

I talked to DH the other day, and told him the next time we go to the World we're going to be trying ALL new places. He immediately said "I still get my Fish & Chips, don't I?" :confused3
I shouldn't complain. Since I'm the picky eater in the family, that's the only request he makes on our trips food-wise. Otherwise, he pretty much let's me pick everything. It's just so frustrating, because there is nothing for me to eat in that area, so normally we have to sit down while he eats his Fish & Chips, then go find me something, and at that point I'm starting to get really hungry, and when I'm hungry, I'm CRANKY!

We even tried the Rose & Crown the last time. I didn't particularly like it, and the Fish & Chips are the same as outside, but more expensive inside.

He'll probably wear me down and get his Fish & Chips, I'll just have to try to stop somewhere else to pick up food for myself first this time. I'm planning on trying the Lotus Blossom Cafe (which of course is all the way on the other side of the WS)

We always stick with some old favorites and then add some new restaurants in there too.

My DH always talks about trying the fish & chips and I tell him to, but like you guys the rest of us wouldn't eat anything there so it's too inconvenient.

Same here! All we've tried is: Ohana (breakfast), Crystal Palace (Dinner), Tokyo Dining, Tutto Italia, Planet Hollywood and Narcoossee's. All were good. We'll be trying a few new ones this August, but not many as we have the Quick-Service Free DP.

Well those all sound very good! :) Where are you eating in August?

Jo and Shelly -

You both have some pretty impressive dining lists there.

Jo - love the new D&B and you did good at 30% off :thumbsup2

Shelly - so sorry to hear about DS(9) having bronchtis, I hope he recovers quickly. My oldest DS has been getting it every year since he was little and he is now 41 and still gets it , if I recall correctly it seems to me he has had it at odd times of the year too.

Yeah for ponchos ! If memory serves me right I seem to recall daily showers in August.

Thanks Sheila. DS is feeling a bit better today.

I'm sure we will get lots of rain down there this August. That will stink! Most of our trips have been pretty dry.

Shelly, I recently found ponchos and the spray on kind of sunscreen at our dollar store too! I was so excited! That is a great deal on the sunscreen! I bought 3 cans thinking that was enough and we have already used it all. Of course when I went back, it was sold out! :sad2: I hope they get some back in. It was Hawaiian Tropic too for just $1!

Hope your DS is feeling better. At least he got sick now and not during the trip.

Oh that is a great deal on sunscreen!

I went to WalMart this morning and got some travel size junk for the trip!

Thanks. He is feeling better. Hopefully that continues!

Hey Jo! :goodvibes My DH used to get weirded out when I took food pics, but now he is so used to it that he just holds up his plate before he starts to eat. I just told him -- the people want what the people want and I want to give it to them -- food pics!

I remember once several trips ago when I started taking food pics I was taking a pic of the breadsticks at LeCellier and he said -- smile pretty breadsticks!! :lmao::rotfl2:

Great reviews. Oddly enough we have never been to several of the place on your list. :confused3:rotfl: Never been to Liberty Tree Tavern, Columbia Harbor House, or Main Street Bakery. We have been to The Plaza, Pecos, and Cosmic though, but I will get to my reviews tomorrow. :)

I hope you guys had a better night last night. How is he feeling today??

yay for ponchos!! I have about ten in my WDW bag. I always buy new ones and never have had to use them. Then I forget that I had them when it's time to shop for a current trip.

I am such a dingbat.:rotfl2:

We had a little bit better of a night last night. He still coughed some though. Hopefully tonight we will all get lots of sleep! :wizard:

I do that too with the rain ponchos. I know I have at least 4-6 more in the luggage somewhere. :upsidedow

Jo, we haven't eaten at most of those places. But we do LOVE CHH! It is our favorite CS meal too. We go there on every trip, sometimes twice. DH loves the fish and DD and I love the shrimp. It's very good quality stuff! And we love to go upstairs and hide too.

Does anyone have any big plans for the 4th of July weekend? :cool1:

We just wanted to let you all know that we probably won't be around too much over the next week or so, so the updates will slow down a bit. As you know Jodi's mom is getting married next week and she is very busy getting ready for that. :goodvibes And while she is off adding a member to her family, we are getting a little addition to ours too.

We go pick up our new puppy this Sunday!

Meet Captain Jack Sparrow! pirate:

Jack9.jpg

We will call him Jack for short!

As many of you know we lost our beloved 15 year old doggy back in March. It has been a very rough time for our family. So getting Jack is going to be bittersweet for us.

Not to mention it's been a very long time since we've had a puppy around. Actually the kids have never had a puppy. I had our dog before I was married and had kids. So this is going to be quite an adjustment for us.

Jodi and I will continue to post as much as we can over the next week (actually I am working on a MK dining update for tomorrow!), and we will be back and hard at the PTR in no time! :thumbsup2

Congratulations on the new puppy! He's so cute & I love the name. :thumbsup2

I've been following along but haven't been commenting all that much - you guys are hard to keep up with!

We're taking off on a camping weekend a couple hours north of where we live in NH. We're hoping the forecast holds & we have nice weather.

Have a great weekend!

And congrats to Jodi & her mom!!

Shelly- wow, Jack has gotten so much bigger since the last time I saw a picture of him! He is so adorable. Good luck with him, I am sure he will be a fantastic addition to the family!
Jodi- congrats to your mom and your whole family. Weddings are very exciting! Have a great time!

Shelly, that puppy is so sweet. :lovestruc I feel really bad for you loosing your dog though. I will be facing that at some point too and it is hard. I also have a dog that I got before I got married. She is 16 now and her health isn't very good. She is blind and deaf and pretty much sleeps all the time. I know I won't have her much longer. It is so hard to loose a pet that you have had for so long. I hope the new puppy helps fill that void in some way for you and your family.

And I hope you and Jo both have a wonderful July 4th weekend!

Wow, Shelly, Jack is so cute!!! Congratulations!

And Congrats to Jo and family as well!

We don't have big plans - just to enjoy a nice long weekend!!
We're going to the Twins game on Sunday afternoon.

Happy 4th of July!

Hey girls, I've been reading along but not posting much. Shelly, I am in love with Jack! He's adorable. Jo, congrats to your Mom! Hope that you both have great July 4th weekends.

Have a fun weekend camping!

I know, he is growing so much already and we haven't even met him yet. :upsidedow

I hope he fits well with our family!

Thank you.

I'm so sorry that you will be going through that soon. It is so hard. I had him for so long that I felt like a piece of me died with him. It has been a long rough road recovering. I tried to prepare myself for it the last few years just knowing his age, but there is just no preparing for something like that.

The kids actually took it better than I expected. Especially DS12. And he's my sensitive one and was super close with our dog. One day when I was crying my eyes out he came up and hugged me and told me -- it's okay mom, he lived a long happy life, longer than a lot of dogs live, and he is in Heaven now and he's not suffering anymore. :sad1: He was very matter of fact about it and very mature beyond his years. It's funny how the Lord speaks to you through your children sometimes.

It's going to be an emotional weekend for us, but hopefully Jack will be a good fit for our family and things will be great.

I hope you have many more wonderful days with your doggy. :wizard:

Have a fun weekend!

Thanks Lisa! :) I'm in love with him too. :lovestruc

Have a great weekend!

OMG, your puppy is gorgeous!

Well those all sound very good! :) Where are you eating in August?

We will have free QSDP, so we'll only doing a handful of TS. So far we have booked Via Napoli, Tusker House (breakfast), Tony's Town Square and Cape May Cafe. We may also try to do a walk-up at Kona Cafe (or the sushi bar). But these are all subject to change 12 times before the trip. :rotfl2:

Shelly - Congrates on the new family member ! Jack is adorable , he reminds me of our Lassie she had the white stripe down her nose too. If you decide you don't want him, I will take him. Of course DH would kill me.:rotfl:

I wish you the all the best with Jack, I am sure he will be a good fit for your family.:goodvibes

Shelly, as I told you in my PM :rotfl2: ;) Jack is precious! I think he will fit right in with your family very soon! What doggy wouldn't love being in a family with 2boys!! Not to mention a loving and doting Mom and Dad. :dogdance:

We are leaving for Florida on Sunday......not to Disney this time.....but to Pensacola Beach. I love the beaches of the Florida Panhandle - they have beautiful white sand and aqua water. We haven't been to the beach for an entire week in years, so I can't wait! My DH and I are going with my sister and BIL. We're hoping that our kids can come for at least a few days.

As Shelly knows, I also have a pet who is up there in age. My cat is 18 years old and also not in the best of health. He is deaf and has kidney disease. I have to give him fluids (not IV, but a needle stick under the skin) every other day. So.....that means he is going to the beach, too! The things we won't do for our pets! ;) I can't board him at this old age, and I can't leave him and have someone feed him because of the fluids. So we have his floaties packed and he is headed for Florida! I hope this goes smoothly!

Jo, I hope your Mom's wedding day is beautiful! Would she disown you if you shared pics when you get back? ;) Have a safe and wonderful trip!

Shelly -

What a beautiful dog! Love the name too!

Not doing much this weekend except packing for the cruise and meeting up for dancing at Disneyland. Have to renew my AP before we go. Fourth of July will be low key since we have to be at the airport at 5:30 a.m. the next day. We are going to try to see one of the Fourth of July shows at DL on Saturday since they are doing performances the 1st - 4th at both parks.

Found out to day that I am going to meet up with my cousin in Anchorage. Haven't seen him in over 30 years. Should be interesting!

Been really enjoying the PTR! Can't wait for the next installment.

Sea :cool1:

Good morning everyone!!:goodvibes This week is really flying by. Wow.

::yes:: I have to be really careful with Mark-- His love language is "gifts"-- if I so much as grunt that I want something- he's off running to the store to get it. Last night it was ice cream.:lmao: He came home with 4 half gallons, hot fudge AND butterscotch. :rotfl2: Yes-- Blessed for sure.

My FIL's love language is gifts too, which he has kind of passed on to his son. We agreed last year that our Disney trip in November was going to be our birthday (Nov & Dec), Christmas, and Anniversary (Jan 2) presents, but DH still tried to send me things, and I had to argue with him. We were trying to save money while he was here, and I was in the States, but he kept trying to buy me things. :confused3 With that and my walks with the baby to the cupcake shop near my parents' house, it's amazing we saved any money at all! :rotfl:

I know, I am suddenly craving a Dole Whip Float!! ::yes::

Yes, hopefully DS will be feeling better shortly and stay healthy the rest of the summer. :wizard:

It looks like you've been to some great Disney restaurants too! :) I've always wanted to try Teppan Edo, but I'm too chicken.

We always stick with some old favorites and then add some new restaurants in there too.

My DH always talks about trying the fish & chips and I tell him to, but like you guys the rest of us wouldn't eat anything there so it's too inconvenient.

I tried the Fish & Chips once, but I'm not a fish person, and I prefer Disney fries (thin and crispy).

Your new puppy is adorable, what breed is he?

DH really wants one, but it isn't really practical for us right now. I told him we can discuss it again once we get back to the states, but for now we live on the 8th floor of our building. There's no way I will be taking a puppy and the baby up and down several times a day.
He also lost a beloved family pet a few years ago, and he has been struggling a lot with it.

The baby seems to be on his side though. Every time he sees a cat or dog he gets REALLY excited. It's quite adorable!

Let's see...oh turkey legs! DH was very upset when he found out they have Turkey Legs at Disney and he didn't know about it. I really thought he would have seen them around the parks. I mean what else did he think was sold at Toluca Turkey Legs? Anyways, he HAD to stop on our last trip, and this was the result...

At least the PP Photog was smart enough to zoom in a bit on the next picture, and I think he had swallowed!

It's not surprising, considering this gem from our honeymoon.

At least he's not a lady!:rotfl2:

Well you have some yummy ADR's there! :thumbsup2 You'll probably be able to walk up and get in at Kona.

Thanks Sheila! :goodvibes

I'll keep you in mind if we decide we don't like him. :rotfl:

I really hope he's a good fit for us. It is so hard because our dog fit us perfectly. When one of the kids had a fever I knew it because he would lick their forehead. And tons of things like that. He was perfect for us.

Shelly, as I told you in my PM :rotfl2: ;) Jack is precious! I think he will fit right in with your family very soon! What doggy wouldn't love being in a family with 2boys!! Not to mention a loving and doting Mom and Dad. :dogdance:

You are cracking me up!! :rotfl:

I'm sure Jack will love playing with the boys. I hope he adjusts quickly and isn't too sad when we take him from his mama. :scared:

Well I sure hope you and your kitty enjoy the beach!! You know I would take care of him for you if we lived closer.
