Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

Well, I lied. I have another shopping update before we get into Disney dining! :rotfl:

We went to Target last night looking for another mister for DS9 because he dropped his on the cement driveway and it broke. (Right after I told him to put it away for vacation before he broke it) Of course they did not have anymore at the store. :headache: But, we did end up getting something for the trip -- shoes!!! And they weren't even for me. :upsidedow Can you believe that I'm the only one who didn't get anything???

Let me start by saying that my DH has never been a sandal or flip-flop wearing kind of guy. It's just not him. He has to wear steel-toed boots at work when he goes out into the shop to do his inspections, he grew up on a farm, and he usually wears socks & sneakers at WDW. I've been trying to tell him that he is going to be WAY too warm wearing socks & shoes down there this summer, but he keeps ignoring me! A few years back I bought him these shoes for vacation because they were on clearance for like $6, so it wasn't that big of a deal if he didn't wear them much.

Summer-Fall2011012.jpg

He has worn them a few times at WDW, mostly to the pool and maybe a couple of times to the parks. But I think they even look like they will be hot this summer. So last night at Target the kids and I picked out 3 pair of flip-flops for him and told him to pick one and we were buying them for him! He ended up with these:

Summer-Fall2011008-1.jpg

Summer-Fall2011009-1.jpg

He put them on last night and was walking around the house in them. I don't know if we will end up keeping them or not. I can tell he's not loving them. But I keep telling him to give them a chance!!

So while we were in the shoe department the kids decided they needed some new flip-flops for vacation and got these:

Summer-Fall2011010.jpg

Summer-Fall2011011.jpg

And they already had these flip-flops from Old Navy. And they will also take their sneakers.

I found a really light weight yellow dress that I just loved but unfortunately they didn't have it in my size. :sad1: I may have to look at another Target or online and see if I can find it!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. :goodvibes

Hap Hap Happy Two , that's 2 Month DAY!!!:banana::banana::banana:

No one in my family has ever worn flip flops at Disney, I doubt I could get DH to try a pair on he always says he does not know how I can walk around in them. DH does wear sandals but like the pair your DH has they are pretty much enclosed.

I do like the flip flops you bought for DH and the boys :thumbsup2

Just like a boy to play with the mister and drop it before ever getting to vacation :rotfl:

Sorry you could not find the yellow dress in your size, hope you can find it online or at another Target maybe.

I am having a somewhat lazy day did run out to pickup up coffee and fruit which led to my spending $34 I did not plan on :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Shelly! Kind of quiet around here, isn't it? :bored:

OK.....completely OT, but has this guy

:crutches:

always been around? I happened to see him when scrolling the full smilie list, and I have never seen him before. I hope none of us ever has a need to use him, of course!

I like the flip flops your DH got, but I guess they may not make it to Disney. ;) is it the strap between his toes that bothers him? Maybe he would like (here goes me not being able to describe something) those pool shoes - the rubber kind with the one band across the upper foot. I know Adidas and Nike make them. Do you know what I'm talking about?

I always find that Target has such a good selection of flip flops and sandals. I like the ones your boys picked, too. I've never worn flip flops to Disney in the past, but I think it sure makes sense in the summer if your feet can take the pavement all day. I've always worn running shoes and socks. Not the cutest look, but my feet didn't hurt!

So sorry you didn't find the dress you liked in your size. Maybe you will be able to find it online. And we all know that you really NEED another dress! Sorry, couldn't resist ;-)

OK, I have something else I wanted to tell you and Jo. I went to Walgreen's yesterday and saw something that brought back memories and made me think of y'all. Right up in front of the cosmetics area I saw on one of the endcaps bottles of Florida Water. Have you ever seen/heard of that? It says "cologne" on the bottle, but I don't know if it is actually used as cologne. :confused3 It is sold mainly, I think, as something to keep cool in the heat. When my DS used to play baseball, the team would always have Florida Water in the ice chest. I'll have to ask him exactly what they did with it. I'm pretty sure you put it in ice or the freezer beforehand though. It comes in a 7.5 oz bottle that looks like a whiskey bottle (not that I am familiar with whiskey bottles ;)) but small. Anyway, I wanted to pass that tip on to y'all. I don't know if it's something you could use, since you won't be carrying around an ice chest ;) but maybe you can check it out.

Warning: I know you don't DRINK it, by the way. Just making that clear! :rotfl2:

:cool1::yay::dance3: Yay for 2 months!!!! You are sooooo close!

I've always had good luck finding fans and misters at drug stores like CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreen's. Never could find them much at Target or Walmart.

My DH is just like yours and resists wearing sandals/flip flops too. And I do the same as you and try to convince him to give it a try. So far he won't budge. I hope you have better luck than me! I keep telling myself that they are his feet so what do I care, but then every time I look at those socks, it makes ME hot! :scared:

Love the boy's shoes too! Do they complain about their feet hurting wearing those around WDW? I'm trying to find some flip flops for my DD with some support but they don't seem to exist. :confused3 She has tons of regular flip flops though like you bought for the boys, but I'm worried that she won't last all day in those, especially since this is our first trip without the stroller. I know you said your boys have always walked, so I'm sure they will be used to it. Do they wear flip flops everyday or do they rotate with tennis shoes? Sorry so many questions, but I'm worried about the shoe issue. There is nothing that can suck the magic out of vacation faster than a whiny child, ya know!

For anyone who has worn flip flops in Disney..........do you ever get your foot run over by strollers or ECV's or stepped on by Big Foot? That's another thing that would worry me. :scared1:

That is exactly my worry so I will stick with my crocs or sneakers, just a big ole' chicken here :rotfl:

Not too much! Just sometimes you "bump" a bit in the crowds. My kids kept stepping on the back of my shoe while it was flipping. Or flopping. Ended up stretching out the straps a bit, since my foot kept going and the bottom of my shoe stayed on the ground!!

Happy 2 months!!!!
:banana::banana:

My DH is normally a sneaker guy. He loves Birkenstocks though. He would wear them with socks at home :scared1::eek: and I just couldn't stand it!!! I did tell him people laugh at that. At WDW he did wear them, but without socks!

Love that dress for Belle - I will have to swing through TJ Maxx more often! I can't do any shopping at all this week while we wait for our wonderful elected officials to try to come up with a budget to avoid a government shut down. (I'm a state employee so I might not be working as of Friday!) But once I know I've still got a job, I'm heading to TJ!!

That is exactly my worry so I will stick with my crocs or sneakers, just a big ole' chicken here :rotfl:

Cluck, cluck, here, too. I have become very used to wearing flip flops almost everywhere, so I might wear them at Disney in the summer, but I would steer clear of strollers and ECV's! (not that that would be possible, though)

I hope DH can get used to the flip flops. I just can't imagine walking around down there in the 100 degree heat with socks on. :faint:

I just checked online and they have the dress, but not in yellow. I really don't need another dress, I just want a yellow one! :upsidedow

Enjoy your lazy day! We aren't doing much either.

Hey Teri  Yeah, I've noticed it's usually quiet in here on Fri, Sat, and Sun. Everyone must be busy busy!

Nope, I never noticed that crutches guy before. That sure is a strange one!

I think it is the strap between his toes that bothers him. He says he has to squeeze his toes together to keep them on. :confused3 I don't think I have to do that, but maybe I do it automatically and don't know it. I think I know what kind of shoes you are talking about. I don't know if he'd like those better or not.

Oh come on now, you know I NEED a yellow dress!!:laughing:

I've never heard of Florida water.....I'll have to check that out.

:cool1::yay::dance3: Yay for 2 months!!!! You are sooooo close!

Thank you!! :) I can't believe tomorrow my ticker will start with a 1. :yay:

I might have to check out the drug stores for a new mister if I don't find one soon.

I don't know why men don't want us to try to change them. :confused3:laughing: Jeez, it's for their own good. :rotfl:

DS12 could wear flip-flops all day everyday, like me. DS9 usually rotates between his sneakers and flip-flops or sandals. The new ones we got at Target last night seem pretty comfy and have decent support. The Old Navy ones are pretty cheap and they usually just wear them around the resort and pool. The straps on them rub on the top of your feet if you wear them too long.

So I would take her a pair of sneakers and also a nice pair of comfy sandals and/or flip-flops.

You're right - a whiny child on vacation is the worst! :headache:

Oh yes, I forgot the most important thing:

Hooray for 2 months!!!!!!! :cool1: :woohoo: :yay:

Thanks!! :cool1:

For anyone who has worn flip flops in Disney..........do you ever get your foot run over by strollers or ECV's or stepped on by Big Foot? That's another thing that would worry me. :scared1:

No!! :lmao: But you do have to keep your eye out for them!

Happy 2 months!!!!
:banana::banana:

Thanks Sheree!

I didn't know what Birkenstocks were, so I just looked them up! They look nice. IDK if he'd wear them or not. :confused3 Good grief.

I don't know how Jodi always finds such great deals at TJ Maxx. She has more patience than I do I guess. I never find anything there and get frustrated and leave! :rotfl:

I hope all goes well and you still have a job at the end of the week! :wizard:

Thanks Sheila! :goodvibes

We have all worn socks and sneakers during the dog days of Aug at Disney but your feet do get hot hot hot.

I hate when I really want something and can not find it, for you it is the yellow sundress and for me it is that crop crochet cartigan, I still have not found one and to make matters worse the one I found at Old Navy and was debateing on sold out in my size when I checked back today when I got a coupon code for 20% off, only reason I did not order it was cause of the color , oh well that is what being a procrastinator gets ya............nothing at all :lmao:

 I need to find a pattern and just crochet myself one.

[COLOR="Red"
[FONT="Century Gothic"]Thanks Sheree!

I didn't know what Birkenstocks were, so I just looked them up! They look nice. IDK if he'd wear them or not. :confused3 Good grief.

I hope all goes well and you still have a job at the end of the week! :wizard:

Birks are a little weird as they have sort of pre-molded arches and toe areas, but apparently the more you wear them, the more they shape to your foot. They have their followers.

I never used to wear flip flops because of the strap between the toes. Now Tevas are the only ones because the straps are cloth not rubber!! So much more comfy!!

I hope I have a job too. Dang politicians... I'm planning to explore some other career opportunities anyway, mostly things I can do in addition to my job just to make some extra Disney $$$.

Good Morning everyone! I know you all think I have abandoned you guys--- the summer is killing me. I need a break from it.:lmao:

I need to back up a few pages and say a few things before we all move on.

Love the flip flops Jo! I bought that same Yellow Box pair (the silver, gold, bronze mix) for my DD for our cruise! And my mom and I make those same kind of flip flops that you made for Belle. In fact we just made some yesterday for my DD for the 4th of July! We also make matching hair bows or headbands. You really can take a super cheap pair of flops and make them cute for very little cost. Here's the set we made yesterday:

IMG_1230.jpg

We've bought a ton of ribbon to make sets for her Disney outfits too. We are going to start on those this weekend. I just LOVE cheap, crafty and cute stuff like that!

Shelly, I think you are set girl! Love all the shirts for the boys! I just have one question.... does the hubby get anything new for the trip or is he on his own?

Your Flips are so cute! Ver nice-- I love them!! Make sure you post the WDW ones so we can all see them!:goodvibes

Well I am very behind today! No excuses, except maybe I'll blame my new Galaxy tab. ;) Words With Friends........very addicting.

Jo - do you have narrow feet? My DD has long, flat, narrow feet. We call them skis. We have to go to a shop about an hour from here for her to get any selection of cute shoes. (as in non-Mamaw shoes) A sensible pump is not what she is looking for! At least she can get by wearing most Yellow Box flip-flop types. I love the ones you have! The shoes you have for wearing with dresses are so cute. Do you have a silver pair and a gold pair, or are those the same color - I couldn't tell in the pic.

You did a great job with Belle's flip flops! That is such a cute idea. :thumbsup2

No-- I don't have narrow feet. Just flat. God forbid I add one more thing to my foot to make it a pain. Belle has narrow feet though and one of her feet is almost a whole size smaller that the other.. makes shopping for her a nightmare.:scared1:
Which unfortunately is on my list of things to do today. She needs dress shoes and I have put it off so long b/c I get so frustrated. Pray for me.:rotfl2:

The yellow box shoes are gold/bronze and then a pair is silver only. I like that they go with so much of what I have and wear them all summer long.

Words with friends, huh? Drew was playing that about a month ago and he said "Hey mom, guess who I'm playing against?? Le Bron James!!" I said "Well that's really funny since he's as dribbling on the court on tv right now.":rotfl2: I flipped the channel and sure enough there he was.
Bless them, they think that everything is the truth on the computer or tv.:goodvibes

Jo -

Your excused from being absent since you were on a important mission, shoppping

You showed that TJ Maxx is the place to shop , wow half off, I would have been running to take the other one back too. It is so cute.

The one you picked up for your Mom's Wedding is adorable, I like it a lot

Thanks Sheila!!! I like the dresses a lot too! I couldn't believe when I walked into the girls dept at Tj's and saw that dress. It really made me mad honestly.:lmao: I can find really good deals there usually. ::yes::

Jo - I love your idea for the Tink gifts! :tink: It looks like a pretty good start to me! And Florida Gator things opens up a wealth of suggestions! If it wasn't for LSU football gift ideas, I wouldn't have had a single Christmas present for my FIL for the past 20 years!

The dress for Belle is precious! And saving half the price makes it even cuter! ;) Another TJMaxx success story! :thumbsup2

Your new dress is so cute, too. I won't say a word about the color, either. ;) Mostly because I love black and white, too. :thumbsup2 It must make you very happy that your Mom has found happiness again. I would imagine it causes some mixed feelings, but I think if it was me it would ease my mind to know my Mom wasn't alone. Not that any man can ever replace your Daddy, but I hope you have a good relationship with your new stepfather. :goodvibes So here's to the new :bride: and :groom:

:hug:Thank you so much Teri. Your words are very comforting to me. It has been a rough road for us, learning to accept this new life change. I never in a bazillion yrs would have thought that my mom would have married again. But I am very happy for her- he is a really wonderful man. My Dad knew him well and thought the world of him so that eases my mind a lot.

Oh and my dress looks like it's Black and white-- I really wish it was. It's actually navy. So now I'm under pressure to find shoes to match it.:lmao:

The gifts look great & the dresses look adorable! Congrats to your mom.

Thank you so very much! :goodvibes
Congratulations to your mom!
:goodvibes Thank you!!:)

Love both dresses, Jo! Beautiful!

Congratulations to your mom! My dad married again several years after my mom died, and I am so thankful. She keeps him in line. (Seriously, she watches what he eats, and if she weren't there, I don't think he'd still be with us.) Anway, I hope you are happy to have him join your family, and I wish them many years of happiness!
Thanks! She is so happy-- it's like she is a different person. Mark and I keep saying they are acting like a couple of 16 year olds. It's been a roller coaster of emotions but ultimately its a good thing.:goodvibes
Jo I absolutely LOVE both of those dresses! I may have to go in search for that one you got for Belle. I adore turquoise blue and that style of dress is so pretty!

Congrats to your Mom. I know that has to be a mixed bag of emotions for you. I hope they have a beautiful day for their wedding!
Thank you! I really loved that dress for Belle too! They had it in orange and brown too but the turq one was too pretty to pass up.
My mom's wedding has been fast and sudden-- we weren't really prepared for it but it is really a great thing for her. The strangest part to me I think is that when I call her now he gets on the phone.:rotfl2: I am adjusting.:rotfl:

Thanks Sheila!

 Well underwear are a very important item for vacation!!

Great Tinkerbell gifts!

I love the dresses! You and Belle are going to look so pretty in them!

I hope all goes well with the wedding.

YAY ~ Disney Dining!!! I'm looking forward to talking about that next!!

Thanks Shelly.

Oh and underwear? Important? Nah......... :rotfl2:

shelly...that's the boat we are in for packing down here too...we'll prob still be wearing our shorts down here when we go in Nov..so it's not feasible to pack the clothing too far in advance. Toiletries, snacks, stuff like that is a go, but we just pack the clothes a day or so before we go....

Jo...Love the dresses! And congrats to your mom and her new husband-to-be!
Thank you!!:goodvibes

oh- and I agree about the clothes. You just can't pack it all up b/c you're still using it.

It's a pain.

Those dresses are super cute. I'm really bad about returning stuff. I'm glad you weren't stuck paying twice as much!
:rotfl: I almost didn't do it. I almost said the heck with it, I'll suck up the $15. But then it made me angry b/c TJ's is just two minutes away-- literally right across the street-- from Dillards where I bought it. I hate it when that happens. I'm just happy they had her size. I would have reallyy been mad if they didn't!

He has worn them a few times at WDW, mostly to the pool and maybe a couple of times to the parks. But I think they even look like they will be hot this summer. He put them on last night and was walking around the house in them. I don't know if we will end up keeping them or not. I can tell he's not loving them. But I keep telling him to give them a chance!!

So while we were in the shoe department the kids decided they needed some new flip-flops for vacation and got these:

And they already had these flip-flops from Old Navy. And they will also take their sneakers.

Summer-Fall2011013.jpg

I found a really light weight yellow dress that I just loved but unfortunately they didn't have it in my size. :sad1: I may have to look at another Target or online and see if I can find it!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. :goodvibes

LOVE the new flip flops for the guys! Your poor DH... I can see him now flopping around in them trying to get used to the way they feel. Maybe he will grow to love them and not want to wear anything else.

I might have to take Drew over there to see if he likes those flip flops your boys got. He needs new ones too.

Do you want me to check my Target for that dress and bring it or mail it to you??? Let me know....
